[Exalted, ?] Most High

Pipeman's Batman comparison and reminding how much fun we had in the last run with that playstyle is what sold me.
Glad somebody else thinks this way. Being Batman was probably one of the highest points of the last quest for me, following closely on the heels of anytime Moon took center-stage. Then everything ended, right after we had created an army of Batmen...! Too cruel, Rihaku. Too cruel.

Quick summary. A Battle Group has three attributes, and one adjustment to the number. Size, Drill, and Might. Size 0 is a single entity, Size 5 is a thousand warriors. Size applies it's value as a buff to the commander's Attack Rolls, Raw Damage, and Soak.

Drill comes in three values, Poor, Average, and Elite. Poor Drill gives you penalties at recovering, and avoiding rout. Average Drill gives you a +1 buff to Defense, Elite Drill gives you +2 bonus to Defense and Commands.

Might, also comes on a 0-3 scale. 0 Representing a team of conventional mortals, 1 being Beastmen, 2 being First Circle Demons, lesser spirits, and Tiger Warriors fighting against Creatures of Darkness or oversized opponents, 3 being Terrestrial Exalts and equivilants (Which are the strongest supernatural type that can be deployed on a level significant in mass combat).

Might 3, for instance, provides +3 to the commander's accuracy, damage, and a +2 to their Defense.

The chiefmost advantage of a Battle Group is that they get hurt before the Commander does. And a full sized army gives you what amounts to 50 Ablative Health Levels before the general is even threatened, assuming they fight to the death (Which Solars have magic to assure this, Tiger Warrior Training Method able to impose Perfect Morale on an already elite unit).

Couple that with Strategems, and a Solar General can contest the lone murderhobo as long as he has his warriors at his back.

I hear animals are pretty badass in 3E. Maybe an army of Tyrant Lizards? You'd only need a dozen or so to form a mass combat unit, even if it's Size 1.

Are you sure? From what I've heard, Battle Groups in 3E are their own separate entities. "You wear them" is something that has been disavowed.

(Double Checks)

No, wait, you're right. Battle Groups are a distinct formation, it's just not terribly clear on that right out the gate.

Unedited leaks'll can be like that.

They're still pretty scary though.

OK just stopping in to say I will be participating when I get a chance to catch up with the discussion. I just wanted to make sure that I was able to give the participant bonus before that went away.

Going to reading now.

Man, I dunno. First Age Lunars do things for the strangest of reasons. Her real face is 'weak' somehow,

It's weak in that its her real identity, instead of one she can custom-tailor to exploit the psychological blind spots of her interaction target.

so she probably has psychoses of some sort that have developed around that. It's all but impossible to accurately predict; the only guarantee is that she'll be some kind of crazy.

Actually, she could be sane. It's not likely, but it isn't vanishingly unlikely either!

As opposed to the Mortal Foe, a hyper-optimized combatant who is dedicated to ideals antithetical to ours? There is no safe choice, save perhaps for the Best Friend; we are very much picking our poison here.
I was more under the impression that the disagreement was methodological, not ideological. She wants to save Creation and she loves us. With those two facts as a base, much can be achieved. You could even view their conflicts as a method of stress-testing their various strategies.

Alright boys, we need to get this Commander vs Obliterator vote locked up. I think Masked Queen has pretty much won already.

We're up to 114, and there's been substantial fanwork and discussion, so you're at 640,800 XP. With a substantial effort, and / or a hell of a lot of modifiers, you might be able to make it to Greatness 10 at the deadline. I suppose it will depend on what you vote for, in the update to come...

Nah, no shunning, just amusing seeing new people join in.

I remember my first Rihaku-quest experience, refresh the tab and two new pages would appear.
I remember once or twice going to sleep, waking up, starting to catch up with the discussion and only arriving at the end of the thread a few hours later when the time of the day and the few hours since the last update ensured the majority posters were either asleep or had stopped posting as much.

Again reiterating that the Field Commander will enshrine us as the greatest of the Solars, as opposed to greater than the Solars. Please, think of the legends.

The dicepools for animals are, it seems, a bit out of whack from some perspectives. An eagle will have a combat dicepool higher than an average trained mortal soldier, for example. Apes are apparently terrifying when buffed up with Familiar Charms. And the bog-standard Tyrant Lizard is a real, serious threat to most Exalted. They are supposed to balanced from the outset for Lunar shapechanging, which is probably responsible for the serious buffs.
