Ethereal Whims, an X-COM x Star Wars Quest

If we are going to ally or be with any interest group, that would mostly benefit us. Once we established ourselves enough, and learned more of our possible core territory and other factions through spec ops, I feel we should find a mandalorian mercenary group and hire them. They could be a good group to have as a base and maybe have our forces have an alias as a new organization/civilization, that has evolved and appeared in the Sith worlds as we can use the excuse that we are from a different planet that was lost to us, and that we migrated to the Sith worlds to settle in our new homes with Dromund kaas being the first. And that we are isolated from the rest of the galaxy from a long time. That would give an impression to others we are just a people that flee from our previous home, when in reality we are really just a displaced people in a new universe with our MC being the possibility last of the elder kind.

Besides I like the mandalorians they are much interesting and they seem to be a special kind of people that are different from Jedi and sith. And I can see potential benefits of us helping a mandalorian group being the leaders of mandalore, after all since there is no clone wars there are a good chance we can aid in a group we want to be leaders of mandalore. But first we would need to find a group of mercenary mandalorians and learn about the mandalorian history before we do anything like what I said.

That would be the biggest wrench we can throw at Palpatine's plans for sure, once we handle the Naboo crisis when we send spec ops out into the galaxy. Helping Jango Fett and the true mandalorians would for sure be something that he doesn't want to happen. If we do so then Jango most likely won't be the candidate for the clone army, as if he were to be chosen he would need to be kidnapped first if he is the leader of mandalore. Though we would need to find the true mandalorians first, or find a good enough group of them to support first, and then help them regain their strength as either someone would rise to take Jango's place, or he would retake his position as leader of the true mandalorians.

@HelereTheAce I don't know if you have read my previous 2 questions or not. But is it possible that our MC is aware of Elerium and the Alien alloy and how they are made? And is it possible to create faceless with the hybrid/clone facility? To me they are a good infiltrator unit when I seen them in XCOM 2.

Yes you know how to create alien allots and elerium, no you cannot create faceless. I feel that their perfect shape shifting trivializes any sort of infiltration and most covert operations.

Alien alloys and elerium are made as needed to try and keep mechanics bloat down as much as I can

Alright!

So what do you guys think would happen if we have some of our forces being able to wield Force swords, since in star wars and it's history force swords used to be the weapon of Jedi and sith throughout the beginning of history, before the beginning the use of lightsabers. We can make our own force swords with psionic properties, I wonder how the Jedi would react to a lost art of theirs being recreated and used by a different group, who has hybrid/clone versions of the Sith pure blood species?

i rather have them wielding lightsabers, but it would be an interesting sight.

Also don't the X-com verse have plasma or laser swords?

I believe they do have something like that in the X-com verse, but not on the same level as a lightsabers that can cut through anything. It could be a game mechanic rather then what would happen in real life, when the characters use them.

If the aliens can use the Sith warblade we found without difficulty, then it would suggest there's overlap between psionics and the Force. That worries me on account of being in Dromund Kaas and subject to the Dark Side on a daily basis.

The current Jedi Order gets fussy with any Force sensitives that are neither with them nor the Dark Side, seeing them being potentially at risk of falling to the latter. Had we crashed on Dantooine or another planet touched by the Jedi, I'd expect they'd want to control the Last Elder. But we're in Dromund Kaas, and I suspect the Jedi may be more concerned with the supposed return of the Sith without much nuance to the how of it.

Also, plasma weapons are a thing in XCOM, along with psionic weapons. We could hypothetically create a plasma-powered version of the Sith Warblade we found, and it may resemble something similar to a lightsaber. I should also note that they also had armor that could withstand plasma attacks.

by the time we meet the jedi we will be strong enough to tell them off, unless they recieve a vision of us. also we have like 7 years till the clone wars?

If we appear mid clone wars both republic and CIS will not be able to focus on us, unless palpantine pulls more time out of his ass (seriously, he had to control the war, the jedi and do enough politics to control the senate, and he had time off to do things like going to mandalore and kill Savage, and traumatize Maul)

now back to being serious, what is the plan? the long term one?

Well we are for sure aren't planning on using the Darkside if that were the case. And I am interested in having our psionic influence be prominent then the dark side. We don't need to play with their rules when it comes to just using the force, we have our own power and we aren't from the star wars universe. So I say we break the norms and be much different from the Jedi and the Sith, and be a total troll between the two of them, intentionally or unintentionally.

Besides in the Naboo crisis they would find out about the Sith that are of the rule of 2, so they would already be concerned if we didn't help Qui-gon, Obi-wan and the others with it or just stay completely hidden and watching from the shadows.

And who said we are to use the Sith warblade, we are going to study it in how to make our own version of our warblade, after all we already have plasma blades and can use psionics so we shouldn't be concerned if using it. Infact I say we simply destroy it after learning all we can on how to make one similar to it's force properties, and how it is made different from other blades.

i say keep it, we can always trade it, the jedi like to collect Sith artifacts, or we could also sell it to Palpy.

Edit: No, we gift it to Palpy, who then has to explain why he has a sith warblade, if he points the Jedi to us we deny, MUHAHAHAHAHA

Hmmm well both of them seem good long term investments when it comes to good will. Which one would benefit us in the long term, as right now we are more likely to meet with the Jedi, for we are most likely aren't aware of Palpatine being Darth Sidious yet.

... the Jedi then, we are study the Sith, we exchange Sith artifacts for Jedi teaching of the Light side of the force

Edit: Dooku is also a good candidate

...I will say that as [Relieved Elder] you would have to have a VERY good reason to even be civil with Palpatine, much less work with him.

The only thing I see is getting a very good income of credits around the galaxy, then we need to either become a company that can make clones, or an PMC organization that would be mostly for hire in the outer rim by legitimate planetary governments. And we are for sure going to be at war with the Hutts and Zygerians and any other slavers.

For the long term goals for me it would be to claim all Sith worlds and build up our forces, set up a strong foundation, have our spys and spec ops explore the galaxy, and collect any and all information about it and the governments. And once we learn what we need to know about the galaxy then we craft a backstory for ourselves that would be of omissions, as the Jedi won't be able to tell the difference between truths and lies if we explain our story of how we got to the Sith worlds.

That is actually a good plan.

That way we don't participate in the CW, we stay below notice.

another plan could be to stblish ourselves as an independent faction and integrate the outer rim sistems that want to leve the republic. The Republic would get angry, but they should have too many fires to put out to do anything to us

After some debate with a friend, I've decided that buildings like the Cloning / Hybrid Production facility can be built more than once on a planet/ship, up to a limit of three. Each one produces a hundred units, will have a list of each unit's benefits in the cloning section next update.

That would work if we are careful enough with how we integrate the planets that would leave the Republic to be part of our faction. This plan can help us expand slowly, but we need to be careful of Palpatine as he would see us as a potential wrench in his grand plan.

My plan I proposed is for us to grow tall, and cause much chaos in Hutt space, for if Hutt cartel was at war with us in the clone wars, then the republic and the Confederacy would have to choose which of the two factions to support. For we would be the only two neutral major factions that have key planets and hyper lanes to get to the front lines. And we are both powerful in our own forces that both can force them to negotiate on our terms.

And thanks for the update @HelereTheAce !

The Jedi Order at present may be high on the fumes of stagnation and arrogance as a whole, made worse by Palp's and previous Sith Duos subtly blinding their ability to see through the Force and they may be mistaken about their traditions being the one correct way to go about being a Light Sider...but they aren't actually wrong that the Dark Side fucking sucks. I'd be very careful about making any attempts to try and have our cake and eat it.

As for which side to pick in the CW...that assumes we're going to be in a position to do anything about it. We don't actually have all that much time available to us, even if we rolled natural 20s every single turn. Imo we shouldn't declare for either side and should take the chance to either be mercenary and/or try our luck at taking on the Hutts. That said, even in our neutrality I do think we should have a slight Republic bias. At the end of the day, while Palps is playing both sides, the Republic does have some safety valves like a handful of 'sensible' and 'moderate' senators and the Jedi (who are ultimately good *people* even if they're blinded as an *organization*) whose better nature our Elder probably appreciates and can appeal to if our actions are framed in a sort of 'taking out the criminal trash' way. As for the CIS, it should be remembered that for all that there's *some* sensible grievances in there...their parliament/senate counterpart is a sham organization that Dooku and in turn Palpatine have far more direct control over than they do the Republic.

Assuming we can't do anything to stop O66, we should at least do our best to mitigate it which broadly just amounts to taking in Jedi refugees imo.

Ultimately I don't think this game is going to end in the timeframe or era of the Clone Wars. This is going to be a 'Long War', so to speak. Our ultimate enemy is going to be the nascent Empire (and Palps) and not anyone else, I'm certain of it.

That's for sure going to be our main enemy in the long term for sure. Though we shouldn't limit ourselves to being righteous without much consideration of consequences, and we would need to have enough connections to survive the coming clone wars once the separatist crisis starts, just after the Naboo blockade incident.

Besides who can say that we won't throw in a few wrenches in Palpatine's plans, as we are a literal variable that can mess up with some plans of his, and we know as the voters and planners what kind of person Palpatine is. Our main character would never know about Palpatine being sidious without us having our spec ops doing some dirt searching, and intelligence gathering on all galactic factions. And we should focus mostly on the outer rim planets and organizations, as if we focus on the inner rim and core, we would be facing off again political and corporate opposition, while in the outer rim we have room to grow once we established ourselves in the Sith worlds.
