[X] Take up Gosrick's invitation

Lets gooooooo

Also the benefit of going out with the SNCOs aside from networking is also since they are more into Chaos means we may get stuff with which we could advance/fuel our cultivation.

Whilst i personally do want more liberty because I'm not fond of a unanimity modifier for something like this, especially if it turns out that this party has some messed up hazing rituals (more than most hazing rituals tend to be), we do need knowledge, and we do need rep with them to get us the blind eye that we can use to escape at some point. For all that these guys find Yon impressive so far, I get the impression they don't really like... respect is the wrong word...

There was noted to be a bit of genuine threat in Gosricks voice at the end there. However much he praises him, he ultimately sees Yon as a savage - a remakably talented one who's good at organising, but someone inherently beneath him. And I think crossing the line from 'Useful underling' to 'potential future competition' could cause Gosricks attitude to us to change very quickly, very fast.

Which... yeah typical Xianxia stuff there. But as is the fare, if we want to rise higher, he's someone we're going to need to Deal With at some point.

Also... It occurs to me that their attitudes might end up biting them in the ass if we ever do manage to stage a breakout - They're ultimately killing off the kinds of people who aren't able to swallow their pride (or at least bite their tongue and just deal with what's in front of them). In other words, all the ones which would balk at the idea of co-operating or listening to people they see as their inferiors. Which in turn might make organising them easier to achieve if we need to get out.

They might treat us like a dancing monkey though. An exotic source of entertainment.

Beyond a few wording choices; what Yon has experienced it isn't even that far off an IoM draft & training for a feral world
This is also true.

Thy know Yon. They know his nature. "Stolid, enduring, uncomplaining, with good judgement" doesn't make for a particularly good dancing monkey.

I think this is nurgle.
[ ] Explore the permitted areas
Khorne by process of elimination? Unless I'm wrong about the Disciples vote.
[ ] Join other disciples on liberty
Slaanesh???
[ ] Spend the time studying
Tzeentch.
Here's my guess at which corresponds to which:
[ ] Take up Gosrick's invitation
Khorne: The "party" could involve some bloodsport that Khorne would enjoy
[ ] Explore the permitted areas
Nurgle: the "permitted" areas could include some disused areas or food storage or something like that
[ ] Join other disciples on liberty
Slaanesh: Classic hedonism from soldiers given a bit of freedom
[ ] Spend the time studying
Tzeentch: Studying = planning

I'm curious, what makes you think Gosrick's invitation is nurgle-related?

In "Basic 2", Gosrick alluded to being a Xianxia-flavoured Nurgle worshipper:

Yon had managed to get enough motion back into his limbs while other armsmen took the weights off him to mumble out his best "Sir, yes sir!" while nodding, which got the Sergeant Major's attention. Surprisingly, he smiled even while shaking his head.

"Gods damn kid, I'm going to have to find the Grandfather's fattest whore to give you a once over, because any other bitch would tap out before you could finish! Tentin, haul his ass down to the showers and hose him off before taking him to the mess," Gosrick stated, which Yon took as being a compliment of some sort.

More broadly, they keep testing on endurance. That's one of the reasons Yon keeps doing so well - because they prize a thing that he's naturally inclined towards.

Also, "Grandfather's fattest whore" is almost certainly both incredibly fat and incredibly full of STDs... so there's an image.

I don't know if the author aligned the challenge according to our character picks, but we got really lucky there.

I wonder how Va is doing, where is she now?

It is known that Yon has a degree of protagonism. One of the things that protagonism does is assert that when the protagonist has nothing but a hammer, the world should obligingly arrange that all of his problems become nail-shaped.

If Yon were not endurance-focused, they would not prize endurance so.

That said, it's also the case that we've been putting real thought and discussion into our votes, and coming out with choices that fit well together and are generally sane. That protagonism is very much a thing, but it's also the case that we're not making it do all the work.

I am also interested in how Va is doing. I suspect that she'll be among the junior officers, in that group that we're being pulled up into.

In the event that the Celestials place Yon in a position of command over Va, how should Yon treat her?
For one, treating her like shit would be a great way to signal how little we care for past relationships and favors. So I would avoid that as much as possible. Not only would we lose what good standing we have with her, it would disincentivize others from trying to earn our favor.

according to his current character? I think he would be respectful, and try to raise her up as an ally, hut the nature of their former relationship (him being her lacky and basically whipping boy), means that I don't see any great friendship rising.

He would also probably try to be relatively nice to everyone, as to not be stabbed in the back, if he rose fast, he can fall fast, or others can rise, and he probably doesn't want former cruelty to go bite him in the ass.

He did show attraction to her even very recently, so he might pursue a relationship, but unless she shown change in character, I very much doubt it would happen without her doing it, he doesn't seem to the type to lord over his higher position to force anyone to anything, but he has yet to have enough power to do so without dying.

Keeping in mind SV voters, I think he would just be friendly unless she tried something.
