The de-escalation class was something deemed to be of great importance to the superhero community due to the much harsher standards of reasonable use of force placed upon it than with the police. As such, most of the chatter was halted quickly as soon as the class was brought into a hardlight holographic simulation room. Fairly impressive technology but nothing you haven't seen before, though the chosen vista of a warehouse felt...there couldn't be so many empty warehouses in Paragon City that it was a standard training scenario that they could just preselect right? That would be ridi-
"Today we're going to do a standard confrontation in one of the most common places for a superhero to need to learn when to back out of a confrontation; when investigating a seemingly abandoned warehouse and meeting someone who is immediately confrontational but not hostile." Karna said, gesturing to the wide-open spaces of the facility and the large floor area that you had found yourselves gathered within, as if you had just went though one of the hallways and were only now entering the room.
"Often you'll encounter situations where force isn't the right answer, and this week we'll be focusing on ahhh...what to do when you find that another hero or a team of heroes is also going through the same area. Now I'll ask this of the guests...what is the standard superhero greeting?" She said, looking to the group as you leaned close to Arne while he tried to study the room closely and keenly.
Vista though seemed eager to show off, that peppy energy she had brimming inside to show that she was ready for the challenge making her perk up as she raised her hand, the Eldar merely looking at each other and shrugging in response.
"Yes, Vista?" She asked.
"It's when capes fight each other when they first meet over misunderstandings."
"Hrm, very good. And I don't think I need to state why that is a problem, yes?" She said, getting some shakes of heads.
"Why do you...fight like that?" Clarioli said, her armour having had some adjustments like all the other Eldar after at trip to your ship but still maintaining the overall Ithilyani aesthetic. More noticeable pauldrons, a retractable arm cannon over her arm she could dismiss at will and a wrist blade for the other arm that she also had dematerialised at the moment.
"It's well...egos run high a lot and a lot of people assume the worst if they run into a meta they haven't seen before." Karna said with a shrug before sighing and exhaling, focusing herself for a moment. "I won't make excuses, as a community we are not great when it comes to dealing with surprises. That's why this is very important, so you know how to avoid fights that don't need to happen without putting yourself in danger." She finished.
"Well...hrm..." She said, stopping to have a moment to think about it. "Fair enough, I suppose you are right in this context; though I am certain we will face difficulty, anyway, but. I can try." She let out a long, almost tired sounding exhalation.
"We are supposed to be doing a lesson right?" Arne said, tapping at his helmet for a few seconds as a minor sign of impatience. "I would like to at least see the contents of the lesson before we drift off." He added.
"Your boyfriend is a bit of a buzzkill." Dinomax whispered to you, an eyebrow of yours quirking as you turned towards her and tilted your head.
"He has not ended the lives of any buzzes." You insisted sharply, hrmphing.
"Hey, it's just an expression. He's just a bit wound up tight is all." Aquaform said as he made sure his helmet was fixed tightly to his head, clearly set on making sure that it was affixed perfectly, though your eyes didn't really see any need for him to adjust it any further than it already was. It seemed like a waste of time to you in all honesty, but you had to hold your tongue to stop yourself from saying as much aloud.
"Hrm, well, he's right that we don't have too much time for conversations. We do have to get going in a bit more than forty five minutes" You responded, adjusting your jaw a bit in your helmet afterwards to keep your muscles busy and avoid the dreaded sensation of stillness.
"Hey, look, you know what? Yeah you're right but come on...trying to take it a bit easy here." He said with a shrug.
"Well, Dawnchild, this is a pretty quick pass or fail scenario. Usually doesn't take more than a few minutes per person. And I'm pretty sure teach is only going to ask the new kids to do individual runs." Iybraa said, Elerya folding her arms as she floated a bit above the ground with that usual eye-catching grace; pink wings luminescent and brilliant as always.
"Oh why's that?" You asked, head tilting over to her with curiosity vibrant in your eyes.
"We did this Monday, not really anything to be worried about honestly. But well, colour me curious as to how you'd do it. I've only seen you fight and goof off. Not sure how you'd handle the other hero tasks." She said, murmuring a bit as she approached you.
"And why am I curiosity inducing to you in particular?" You asked.
"Call it a hunch, but I think seeing your chops in action is going to give me a good idea of what's ahead. Mkay?" She said with a hint of smugness radiating from her aura that your empathic senses could detect, one that got a grin out of you of all things.
"Well, Dawnchild, Duskguard; would you two like to show your technique then?" Lightwar said.
"...I would actually." Arne said, looking back briefly.
"Oh, going to show off then spaceman?" Voidwave snorted, a long sigh coming out from Skjoldr as he had to stop himself from trying to pinch his brow through his helmet before shaking his head and doing his best to look away from them.
"Why are you so hostile anyway?" You asked, taking a look at the extradimensional who simply shrugged in response to your question. "It's not really nice to respond to him offering to start for the rest of us with that kind of snark." You said. "And he's not named spaceman either." You concluded.
"Okay miss knight in shining armour." Voidwave let you see their eyes, bright and starry, make a few full rolls.
"Okay can we just...hey uh, ma'am, Duskguard would like to volunteer." Kid Win interrupted, pointing towards Arne who gave a small nod in response before raising his hand. You mentally let loose a sigh of thanks for Chris' intervention to stop this tomfoolery from expanding any further.
"Well, alright then Duskguard; you first. We'll be doing this one at a time, then as a group."
"Now you're new here so let's first start with the basics. The most important thing is to let the other person explain and make it clear that you're listening. You won't always be able to reason with people, especially when they're enraged, but you should at least try to hear them out. Don't make the first move, and try to offer reflective, insightful commentary." She started.
...
Arne
"Do you have all that?" Krna asked, folding her arms behind her back as you gave a nod. Though honestly most of this seemed to be pretty familiar to you. And you figured you might as well just do things your way. It wasn't likely that people from this era really had things more figured out than you did more than forty-eight thousand years later. That was how things worked yeah? You were so much farther ahead in the "timeline" that there couldn't have been all that much in the fields of psychology they could offer to yourself. As such, you didn't really pay too much attention; besides your memory was flawless anyway.
"Alright, I'm ready." You said, stepping forward to the interaction zone where the artificial intelligence of the holograms would recognise you as something they were allowed to perceive.
You took another look at all the crates and boxes just full of...stuff, the distant sounds of enemy chatter loud and clear to your own hearing while your boots moved with an almost unnerving degree of silence, every movement registering as you advanced towards the cross-section where multiple hallways fed into the same part of the room, yellow-white lighting shining down on you and giving your holofield suit an almost obnoxiously brilliant presence before you caught sight of a heavily cybernetically augmented ruffian being thrown over the railing of an upper level walkway, punk rocker neon green mohawk flashing past you as you stepped out of the way.
Hrm, that seemed to be a rather garish combination of colours, but you thought more than a few fashion trends here were pretty weird. Though you kind of just dressed however Solveig said you'd look best wearing; you weren't exactly a great judge of how to dress yourself. You didn't get the point of the fishnet covering over his biceps while refusing to cover anything else though. That just seemed weird.
The pinging sensation and the brief glimpses of foresight induced vision your distant sight afforded you prompted you to step back and pivot on a boot heel to turn to look at someone holding a mace sizzling with ionising radiation that prompted you to raise an eyebrow at the thought of nonlethally resolving any situation with something like that; their costume styled after an armoured version of an NBC Hazard suit, their other arm bearing a large cylindrical cannon that fed into a backpack via a series of green tubes, the yellow, black, and green armour setting off that reptilian brain hazard response in your brain; hairs raising on the back of your neck and getting a bit of tension out of you.
"Hey, who said you could drop in on this bust like that? What are you here for huh? I've never seen anything like you around these parts." He said.
"I'm Duskguard, here to look for the archvillain Tordageddon. I heard that he was looking for the freakshow." You said, taking a moment to let your scan visor work on him.
Radmax is a holographic program created by Statesman Academy to take the form of an archetypically aggressive Brute archetype Hero who is prone to irrationally jumping into a fight at minor provocations even with other heroes. Radmax's program indicates that he's designed to respond poorly to things he perceives to be extraterrestrial or dimensional in nature, with a background filled out noting that he had lost family in the Rikti War and friends to the Praetorian invasion. However, forthright indication that you do not mean him any harm will produce grudging acceptance; especially if the user offers to aid him.
Samus' Notes: I'm getting uncomfortable feelings if that sort of prejudice is common enough to have to train children to deal with.
Arne's Notes: Alright, easy enough. Disturbing implications, but easy enough. Just need to keep my words straight.
"Duskguard huh. Haven't heard that one before, but I'm also here for Tordageddon. Where'd you hear he was here?" He said, placing his mace on his shoulders while the group behind you gave their thumbs up of encouragement.
"Picked up a clue while dealing with the Rikti." You said, waiting for his response with some tension, steeling yourself to have to repeat in case of any errors. Its what Zurvduat would have done.
"Huh, alright. Hey, you from these parts? Haven't heard of you before now." Okay, this was going to be tricky you thought. It wasn't ideal to lie to him, and you weren't a very good liar to begin with, but telling the truth would set him off. You paused time for a moment to buy yourself more time to think at your accelerated rate of reaction.
"If I lie to him now and he finds out later he'd trust me less...but if I tell him the truth now I might fail the encounter immediately. Maybe I should be..." You paused, giving it a once over in your mind, the cells of your brain hard at work estimating scenarios and peering through possibilities in the distant sight. You weren't able to fine tune these visions quite the way Alyrsero just yet, but you were getting there. You followed some of the incadescent paths of the future from possible choices on your part, your thread strong, thick, and intertwined with countless other destinies.
Failures and dooms crept towards you, trying to cloud your vision with doubt and uncertainty and show you the loss that they represented. But you pushed them aside, uncomfortable with looking at "how would I lose?" and trying to focus instead on "how do I win?". More comfortable, easier, less assailing on your ego.
There it was.
Time resumed, your words came out "Another reality, but I have friends who can vouch for me. I could have them contact you if you want?" You said before you felt a flicker of tension in the air, an ember of possible conflict that made your spine straighten like a rod while a hand of yours had to be stopped from reaching towards your arm cannon by sheer reflex.
"Alien? How can I know your friends aren't your puppets. Seen too many weird mind control tricks to just take your word for it." He growled. Stick to the plan, stick to the plan.
"I've been endorsed by Positron directly, even offered a place in the Freedom Phalanx. I can just show you the footage if you'd like to see it."
"Positron? That guy's gone soft with the praetorians but I suppose if he's put in his word for a xeno then I can't complain. But if I see any funny business from you versehopper I'm gonna bring you down tin man. Remember, I've got my eye on all sorts of scum popping out of portals, you won't be any different." He said and you could feel Samus about to scream and jump into the simulation even though it wasn't her turn, having to mute her helmet to prevent her outrage from being heard as she clenched at a rail until it crumpled into her fingers to the shock of Karna while you tried, and failed, to choke back your choler.
Arguing was one of those Jewish traditions you did in fact, have passed down from your lineage all the way back to your Earthly ancestors. And you couldn't help but bring a finger up. "Okay! Look here Radmax! You can't go on with this sort of prejudice in every situation when your sample size of offworlders is nothing but people you've fought or looked for fights with! How dare you judge people for their place of birth or species?! Honestly are you even fit to be called a hero when you spout, to the face of someone trying to help you, this sort of CONSTANT insults?! I am offering to fight with you, not against you; you unreasonable gods and ancestors accursed oaf!" You said sharply and angrily. You didn't scream and shout like Samus did when mad, that took genuine enraging to get out of you, but you were mad at...Tygvaldi you were getting mad at a simulacrum.
"Oh you want to drop the bigotry speech on me?! That's it. You're damn right about one thing, I am spoiling for a fight and all I see is some E.T creep thinking they can mouth off to a war hero. GET READY FOR THE PAIN TRAIN!" He snarled as you prepared to shoot him before the holograms faded out; your arm cannon charging a blast before you realised you were about to fire a blast that would pierce straight through the walls and zoom off into infinity and lowered your cannon, dispersing the charge into your shielding harmlessly and exhaling as the whine of the cannon accumulating power faded.
"Okay...so one important thing about deescalation is that you really, really shouldn't let yourself get angry. But well, I can see that struck a nerve with you so...I'm not holding it against you but that isn't how we're supposed to do it." She said as a sinking feeling pervaded through your chest, your stomach, and even into your groin as you felt shame that both burned hot and had shivering chills while you choked and gulped a bit.
"...Sorry..." You muttered in a low voice.
"Hey, happened to me too." Voidwave said, surprisingly you somewhat with their sudden tone of sympathy.
"Hrm, I would have gone on far longer with the lecture, but good on you for being concise." Alyrsero said while Samus opened an arm for you while you flopped into her for a hug and tried to not cry from the sting of failing. She patted your back and whispered a few shushes into your helm as you choked back the urge to release and nodded.

"Are you at ease now?" Alyrsero asked, turning his conical helmet concealed head towards you. Neither of you could see each other's faces but it wasn't necessary when you were both empathically receptive. He was concerned, and that was something admittedly you didn't expect him capable of feeling for non-eldar when you first met him.
"Yeah...the group session went a lot better...helped with not feeling so bad about fumbling so hard the first time around." You said, sighing as you gave the lecture relatively brief notice before turning back to him.
"Not interested in the history lesson?" You asked.
"Honestly, it's mostly personal mythology at this point." Clarioli responded on the Warlock's behalf, murmuring a bit to herself while she looked at the screen and then back towards her currently in progress device.
"Well, it's a decent way to get familiar with how Primal Earth works. Or at least, one vision of it." Aronim said, leaning a bit closer in.
"Shhh, these are the best parts!" Dinomax said with a hissing whisper that made your hairs stand up on end as you had to resist the urge to jolt towards her.
"We already read over this a dozen times in the study group, I don't see wh-" Lightwar managed before Dinomax shushed them even more loudly.
"+So tell me, Arne. What does Samus mean to you?+" Alyrsero asked through helmet comms, your face flushing beneath your helmet a bit at just how unexpectedly personal the questionw as.
"+...Well...she was the first other...person like me I ever met. And the first humanoid I didn't build myself...and she was, sweet.+" You said, trying to find words on short notice after being ambushed by the line of questioning.
"+Ah, first love. How saccharine.+" He said without any of the usual hints of snark or sarcasm that often toned his inflections and his voice.
"+So you've known each other for two years hrm?+" Iybraa asked, butting a bit into the conversation and getting a nod of acknowledgement out of you as her psychic voice was added to the mix.
"+Yeah, we've had more than a few pretty intense adventures together. Gotten to know some others like us even. Other inheritors. Kind of wondering where the others are now though.+" You responded, taking a moment to think of Sevrin and Agafya.
"+I am sure they're fine.+" Alyrsero said with a small, gentle smile.
Samus
You sat back and looked at the procession of information, reading through countless pages of history in a matter of moments. It was honestly fascinating; how divergent everything becomes starting in the 1920s. All these new names to memorise, all these locales to take a look into and all this sheer, undiluted data to sift through.
So far it seemed that everything was indeed, quite focused on the narrative set by individuals and metahuman teams, with a somewhat lesser amount of attention paid to the twists and turns of social movements throughout the ages. Something that rubbed you ever so slightly the wrong way when everyone played their part in pushing the wheel of history.
"Karna." You said, not bothering with any form of formal address, it was never really your style.
"Yes, Dawnchild? Ehrm...what is it?" She asked, chewing on her lower lip below her helmet. She was nervous, you could feel it even if you couldn't see it. She found you perhaps a bit intimidating, but you guess you couldn't blame her, especially if she saw your combat record.
"Why is this passage so focused on Statesman as an individual? I mean, surely there was a lot more happening in two thousand and twelve than just one man's death?" You asked as she paused, tensing slightly as she racked her brain around to try and figure out the best possible response she could give to your question.
"Well, while Statesman was one person, he was held to be an icon by a lot of people; and being an incarnate metahuman of so much power meant that when the world was under threat, he was usually called to help. But when one of those incarnates died...just ten years after Britain lost Hero One; well; we all felt more vulnerable. And the Freedom Phalanx had been lead by the same person for so long that getting used to him not being there well...it's hard to explain to someone who wasn't there." She said, sighing as she leaned against the board.
"You are right, we do track the fights, battles, losses, plots, and schemes of metahumans pretty hard. But this is a class meant for metas, to help them feel more attached to their history and community. And Statesman...like him or not, and there were a lot of reasons to not like him; he was virtually the first. And that meant something. He was one hero yes, but he meant a lot to even more people." She responded with a sigh and shook her head, taking a look back at you and straightening herself.
"Besides, I only have so much time to cover things. I'd love to go into more detail but well...forty five minutes is..." She stopped and took a look at the clock.
"...Oh fuck....uh...come on let's carry on with this heading over to one of the practice rooms." She said, eyes bugging out in response to the sight of the hands of the clock being two minutes past where she was supposed to wrap up.

You decided that the Obstacle course simply looked way too easy to bother bringing even your zero suit to the fray, though you were promptly informed that doing it fully unclad would be unacceptable. Not unexpected given that the Chozo's rather lax attitudes towards you going around in whatever you wanted were something that not a whole lot of other cultures were willing to let you get away with that, though you never really took advantage of that anyway. But if they insisted on something superhero themed... you put on an outfit much like your zero suit, but without the variably hardened plating or the artificial musculature. Just about skintight without being overly racy, two tones of blue just the way you liked it. The body glove you figured you'd call it; though the outfit was still strong enough to bounce most incoming rounds and keep up with your movements without tearing. Shaped enough to make it clear that you were a very lean young woman whose frame contained explosive power and endurance, but not enough to be overtly sexual.
You decided that you may as well let your hair down to put a bit of extra challenge on yourself before you affixed the domino mask onto yourself, not quite sure how this was supposed to obscure your features, but it looked pretty cute on your face based on how you looked at yourself in the mirror, a smile forming on your face once you made sure your top was fully secure. You stepped out of the changing room, flipping your hair back and walking down the brightly lit hallways and giving a little wave to one of the local students who seemed to immediately stopped in their tracks, the black haired boy ramming shoulder first into an equally stupefied looking redheaded girl, sending the two of them crumpling to the ground in short order.
Arne came in with his own outfit based on a slimmed and trimmed version of his zero suit, much like yours; contouring to his body in a way that you appreciated as you gave him a quick once over, a smirk creeping onto your face while he took a moment to roll his shoulders around to get a feel for its sensations around his body. While with his armour, his zero suit, or his pajamas his musculature wasn't terribly obvious; much like with you; in this bodyglove it was impossible to miss that he had been honed into a lean, swift blade of a boy, able to hit hard and move fast. He wore mostly two-tone red, including with his domino mask, white hair catching some of the lighting while he offered a nod of acknowledgement to the people staring almost speechless at him.
You could sense the wave of teenage hormones, they definitely were interested, in a base and low way of course, but you could just feel their eyes on you, especially as you gave a bit of a twirl around in the outfit. You refused to put on some bracelets or high heels though, that would be absurdist.
You summoned up a pistol briefly and gave it a twirl, smirking at how it felt in your hands even if you regarded the thing as quite frankly, not the most useful tool in your arsenal even if the blade or whip mode was pretty cool. Letting the thing fade back into light, you took a moment to stare into Arne's eyes before you walked him over to the obstacle course room, where you found the others waiting.
"So anyway I was thi-" Chris said as he busied himself with talking to Vista before his eyes caught a glimpse of you and his tongue did its best impression of the gordian knot.
"Buhh...wh...ahhh...h-hi..." He said with a philosopher's grace and intellect, cheeks going beet red and then flushing even more intensely when you gave him a small wink.
"So how long is it gonna take for...heeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyy." Aquaforce said, busy talking to Dinomax whose head seemed to tilt all the way while her face formed a bright smile; her helmet off at the moment as she eagerly drank up the sight of the two of you.
Both Lightwar and Voidwave turned towards you, having removed their helms to show that Lightwar's skin was sunlight white and their hair the colour of the night sky, while Voidwave's colourations were the exact inverse. Jet black skin, hair the colour of the moon. Lightwar's features somewhat more masculine than Voidwave's but both having rather androgynous midlength cuts, Voidwave obscuring half their face with their hair while Lightwar had a small ponytail. Lightwar blinked but then smirked, while Voidwave mouthed out the word "Nice".
But it was the responses of Elerya and Alyrsero you were most interested in; the two of you having set it upon yourselves to try to catch their eyes. Elerya had her helm removed, somewhat messy blonde hair shorter than your own, while Alyrsero set his own helm aside to let his bedhead of raven coloured hair free; the glowing irises of his blue eyes taking a moment to scan over to the sudden intrusion and his ears flattening hard against his head while his colouration made a few interesting shifts.
"...Alyrsero is som-" Elerya said before she found her mouth going a bit slack-jawed, her expression tightening itself with Aronim's help once he pushed her mouth closed with a finger.
"Well uh...eye candy brigade huh? Wow...I...you look good!" Elerya said, stammering as she harrumphed and coughed into a closed fist to try and recover at least a modicum of composure.
"Well...I'll be damned. Isha's grace does touch some humans after all..." Clarioli said with a dreamy smile as she looked at the two of you.
Vista on the other hand couldn't help but take peeks at Arne and see his every movement, the degree to which she had been smitten with him being well...endearing, even if you weren't sure if he should reciprocate them. But he took it in good stride, folding his arms and looking a bit down at Alyrsero who mentally compared their heights and made a "tch" sound. A full half head shorter than Skjoldr was, but Ardanesh didn't seem to let it get to him, even as he alternated between looking at the two of you just as Elerya did; and Clarioli and Aronim to be honest.
Elerya's sharper features looked at you with curious intent, her mind racking around for something to say before she managed to find something to not make her sound like a complete fool. "Well, did you put all that on just for me? By the Gestalt heh...I got a pretty different impression of what you'd be like based on your PJs and armour to be honest."
"Well, it is a dress to impress. I'm a bit, behind on your culture but I'm not clueless." You replied with a wink as Elerya began to flush and chuckle.
"Well, certainly it's quite the interesting view." Alyrsero said, your eyes catching his pupils dipping for a bit longer than necessary until he flushed his cheeks once more and harrumphed a bit into his hand, tugging at his collar with his free hand.
"Definitely..." He said, looking towards Arne as he leaned against a wall.
"I mean, I don't mind the one I'm getting either." Skjoldr said.
"...Oh my..." Ardanesh chuckled.
"Well, uh. Honestly, if you two want to sleepover at the starsetter base more...I'd be very...happy to give you clearance." She said, biting at her lower lip a bit.
"We could definitely watch some, interesting movies together." She said, wandering eyes on the both of you being met with a grin.
"Well, I like films that can make me laugh." You said.
"Noted..." She grinned.
"Alright, class, you are to get the flag off of the top of the spire by any means available to you. Note that there are teleportation diversion fields, aerial obstacles, multiple way to slow down speedsters and wall crawlers, anti-grappling measures and that if you're about to take injury; the mediporters will send you out immediately before you can get hit. This is not a time attack course, this is seeing how few obstacles you can get hit by and how few tries you can manage to do it in; so caution is advised over speed." Karna said, holding a datapad in hand as she looked to the group.
"Okay...get into positions and begi-" You were already off before she finished. Your extra-sensory perception compensated for outrunning your own sound, the agility incarnate kicking in to push you even farther and faster than you could have gone even while half-assing the course.
Karna blinked, you arrived at the flag just a bit before Arne did, everyone else well behind the two of you as you vaulted down from a space compressed obstacle course as large as a dozen of those courses; the challenges set before you being so trivial that you barely even thought about them as you landed with a roll and then sped towards the depot point, spinning through a series of platforms that would have been the acrobatic equivalent of a needle in a haystack to thread through, but landing all the same.
Karna opened her eyes again and almost fell on her face in surprise as you gave her a grin.
"Wah!" She stammered before catching herself, Arne following behind and the third place being quite...distant.
"...Jesus that was...okay new record time then." She murmured.

Great update as always and i was torn about the Channeling class, but the Eldar are fickle so they might leave for while after this for something, so might as well get some Warp magic to add to our skill sets

I checked Steel's plan again, and I agree for the most part, but I think we should follow through with building romantic bonds with the others.
S'alright. This is the less popular of my quests even if it's the one I enjoy writing for the most. So I'm just kind of accepting of the fact there will probably be more hitches in the road.

Citizen interaction honestly wasn't super interesting, it was largely just basic social skills and what you needed to make sure that you weren't misunderstood by the locals. You did however, poke a bit into the local news networks and social media to get an idea of how culture was in this time period or rather...reality. For some reason people of your age group were extremely into something called Among Us based on the quantity of memes being produced about it. But you were at something of a loss trying to understand the appeal. It seemed like a rather basic game? Maybe you needed to actually play it once with some friends to actually get it. There was an awful lot of poking back and forth between fans of something called Minecraft and Fortnite too but once again looking into it just made you...
...Like...why is it such a big deal what games people play? Just let people have their fun.
Samus was much more invested into the class than you were, chattering away with the holograms and even trying to poke around at the limitations of their programming, you though; had your head largely in the clouds until called.
"Where are you from?" One asked, their features that of a dark skinned girl about half your age.
"Oh. That is...how long do you have for me to explain?" You responded, getting a nod out of her.
"Long as you need!" She beamed.
"Well, you see it starts....five thousand years into the future, give or take." You said. Clearing your throat and beginning the longwinded explanation.
Aced it.
-[X]: Focus on cementing your relation with each other (Arne and Samus have a heart to heart)
Samus
Lunch time was quite the menagerie of people coming together as a significant chunk of the academy was unified in the cafeteria. You eased yourself into a seat next to Arne, feeling that the tables were a bit too wide to make sitting across from him satisfying. The food smelled much better than it did in the PRT facility, and you could sense the tingle of magic used in the pizza. You were sure you would tire of this kind of food at some point, but so far you'd eaten it three times in as many days.
You scooted the Pizza next to him while he smiled at you, brushing a hand through your long mane of hair and taking a slice while you tapped at his nose and made a "boop" noise, a chuckle coming from him while his cheeks slowly flushed red. Every smile from him was always precious to you, and you made it a major goal in your life to get as many of them out of him as possible. Just like how he tried his best to make you feel wanted and cared for. Two people who could talk to each other as equals with shared traumas, rather than master and apprentice, god and worshipper, saviour and saved, or parent and child.
"Are you okay?" You asked, not waiting for him to speak up before taking a slice in your hands, allowing yourself a moment to smell the barbecue sauce and the magically created salmon, onions, bacon, and bell pepper. A strong savoury smell with some smokiness and a tinge of sweetness to the aroma hit your nostrils, while your eyes studied your lover for a few moments more.
You were biased of course, but you always considered him to have a rather angelic countenance. Almost perfect. You'd need a bit of time to adjust to his new hairstyle though, you kind of missed the little wings of hair that extended to the sides of his neck when he grew it out a bit longer. And while you were hardly the best person to judge, he wasn't exactly super neat with his brushing. But then, it looked nice that way and you were doubtful that a slicker, more professional look would suit him better.
"Well, this isn't exactly...it's not...okay starting over." He said, inhaling and then exhaling to clear his throat.
"When we first came here I wasn't really sure what to think about being so far back in time. Not...our time, but just, in a very distant era." He stammered, trying to recollect his thoughts. You waited with as much patience as you could muster, which admittedly could be very little under the right circumstances, but this was something you needed, wanted to hear.
"But...in just a few days we've stopped two major crises and well. That's something isn't it? I dunno, I just kind of...feel detached from this time." He sighed and shrugged, his articulation breaking down as his composure did before he took a slice of the offered pizza and gently raised it into his mouth, eating like every bite would be his last while you were already on your third slice.
"Arne, it's not a problem. Really. I know I miss my friends back home too but I'm sure we'll be meeting them again soon. It's just...fate really. We've got a bound duty to do and...well. It'd just be nice for them to come by when they know we're here right?" You said with slightly more command of the strange language you'd been speaking for the past few days. The syntax still felt strange at times, as did the rules of word placement and the inexactness of so many of its words.
Galaxian and Uskarlyc were both marked for their stark avoidance of homonyms and trying to minimise the number of alternate meanings one word could have to make sentences easier to construct. Galaxian took it a bit further and tried to avoid compound words, which sometimes made sentences unwieldy, but hard to misinterpret across cultural barriers. Well, in theory. English though...just listening to some of your new friends speak all their adolescent innuendos, punz, and double entendres had you realising you had missed out on a whole genre of humour. Ka-Sahmatah had word play of course, but this language was devoid of that sweet tongue's clicks, whistles, warbles, and other sounds suited to the lungs and throats of your caretakers.
Distraction right...you were getting distracted.
"But if we're doing good here, well...that can't be a bad thing right? It means that there's things here that we need to do, wrongs to set right. Destinies to fulfill, people to help, monsters to defeat! Adventure to be had!" You said with rising bubbly excitement that seemed to almost infect him as a slow nod and grin formed on his face. A finger of yours rising as you made your point until you were pointing at the ceiling.
"I know it's a big task, and...sometimes I'm not sure where to start. There's so many wrong things, so much we need to help fix, so many people who could use our help. But...we have to start somewhere, alright?" You said with a slightly faltering tone. "Because I..." You paused, not I.
"We...we were given this strength for a reason, to help. We can't just turn away people in need when they're calling for us." You'd never not be strong enough to save people again, not in your life. That was a promise you had made to yourself very early on. No cry for your help would find you wanting.
"Well." Arne said, that engineer's brain of his starting to whirr its gears. "We could probably start by doing something quick but...kind of public I guess?" He gave a small shrug as he scratched at the back of his head.
Let people know they can ask for our help. Right now we're unknowns here. Really, we didn't exactly well, stop an entire sector from being blown up here or stop the Krikens from conquering a thousand galaxies or anything." He snodded.
"Yeah that's a great plan Arne. Thanks...I just need to find something we can do and we'll get started! Oh and one more thing." You said, a little grin forming on your face as you leaned in while he grabbed at another slice.
"Yeah, valkyr?" His petname for you.
You smooched him on his lips and he at first seemed taken aback before pressing into it himself with just as much warm enthusiasm, letting the heat of his lips crash against yours and leaning his back forward to tilt into it. For just a while until the two of you parted, a dreamy smile on both of your faces.
"I love you, cherry-eyes." You whispered to him as you brushed at his hair.
"I love you too, golden girl." He said before kissing at your nose.

As this sort of Math is completely and utterly effortless to you, there's nothing really to be said here. You were doing Dimensionometry as a toddler, this stuff is for the birds. At least...that's how you think the saying goes.
Samus
Bored by the lack of challenge provided by the math course your attention shifted instead to what you could grab from information webs that might have popped up after Arne was done. You were in particular, focused on the work being done on trying to unveil anything more about the malware.
Curiously, there was a lot of hate traffic being directed towards a number of major figures who endorsed the idea that there was an epidemic of spyware spread throughout the computer systems of the world. Most of them linked to what seemed to be real people with real names, records, and images.
Reverse image search indicated the photos were at the right level of uniqueness for people with reasonably active social lives and most had some sort of attached lives and addresses. But there was something still troubling, your armour going through archives and comparing data signatures. Many of these accounts were very, very clever frauds with a great deal of trickery meant to pass them off as really having been set up at the time they said they were, but none of the accounts supposedly linked to these people; so proudly displayed in many cases; stretched back more than a few decades.
And while the slicing skills displayed were tremendous; your armour could still pick up trace signs of outside manipulation. Over coordination that people wouldn't normally demonstrate to dealing with a cause like this. For one thing, too many of these were people your suit indicated as being respectable and professional members of society versus those who were pseudononymous, anonymous, or just random kids. Furthermore, a lot of them seemed quite set on attacking the reputation of the autobots in particular.
Hrm.
You also noticed that a lot of capes on Earth Bet who had done stargazing had been witnessing some weird phenomenon in space too. Sudden shifts in what was visible in the night sky that often defied explanation. More troubling were that Autobot outposts often reported similar occurrences at the same time despite them being light years apart and Earth Bet lacking faster than light observation systems to account for this.
What was most concerning though is that you were quite sure that there were articles written about how excited everyone was to have picked up a new supernova in a very distant galaxy with their new instruments yesterday; only now the data seemed to not have been erased so much as there never was any data at all, not even any signatures of deletion. Your armour registered a chronal anomaly of some sort, but required more data to make a conclusion.
Troubling.

Recess was...you'd never say it's funcess that's dumb. But it was enjoyable to just get time to goof around in the spectacular playing field set up for all sorts of metahumans. Some areas were sectioned off so that people of different species or metahumans with wildly different metabolic and biochemical needs could wander around without enviro-suits while some kids who were a lot younger than you and others who were rather older fitted into their various friend groups.
You took another look at Samus and felt a bit of wanting now that she was fully covered up in her power suit once again. You...liked the view you weren't going to lie. You'd seen a lot of pretty girls, boys, and those who were neither over the years but you weren't sure if anyone could steal your heart as much with just the sight of their smile framed by their hair as she could.
You had so much to repay her for, from showing you that it was possible to make Zurvduat admit he was wrong to showing you that even in a place as vast and cold as the universe; there was plenty of warmth and kindness for those who knew where to look. And you decided to pay some of the other groups a bit of a visit while Samus decided to spend her free time with Alice and Joseph; eager to learn more of sorcery from them in the relatively brief time you had to do so.
You found Lady Silver, Clockblocker, Lelithax, Ormothin, Galen, Olla, Dawnmaker, Duskkeeper, and four new people you were less familiar with all hanging out by a tree. The new people caught your eye in pretty short order, one a boy whose motorcycle like helmet was laid to his side, letting curly black hair and olive skin free, a winged heart symbol on his white chestplate, a dashing blue cape behind him, and golden externals to his armoured costume. Heartfree; next to him was a young lady by the name of Sonerblaster with clearly indigenous heritage who clad themselves in armour styled after speaker phones, a helm that looked like it had radio antennae and headphones attached to it set onto the ground while she made an easy laugh at the jokes of Heartfree and Clockblocker.
The nonhumans were a tall and almost intimidating pair of beings who looked like sections of plate connected by sparking energy in the translucent shape of something humanoid; one purple, the other gold, one having bladed crests turning down, the other having bladed crests that turned upwards, clusters of glowing lights corresponding roughly to eyes while rayman like fingers floated around, grabbing some tools they wanted to show to the others. Psistorm and Zeuswave...which were names you couldn't decide whether they were amazing or stupid.*
You offered a small wave to the group. "Uh, if you guys aren't busy, I'd like to say hello. If that's alright with you." You said, straightening yourself and making a small smile beneath your helmet.
"Sure, come on over!" Silver said, her French-Canadian accent cheery and peppy. "I never got to know you that well, but you're doing well right?" She said, getting a nod from you as she ran a hand through her red hair, humming mostly to herself as you sat down on a bench nearby while Dawnmaker and Duskkeeper traded a bit more gossip between one another.
""Well...yeah...today's been exceptionally good by my standards." You said, chuckling slightly nervously.
"Mh, low standards on what makes a good day?" Olla said, leaning in a little closer to you.
"I...I guess..but it's been good." You said before you felt yourself unwind just a little.
"But hey, uh. So what exactly do you people talk about?" You asked before getting a shrug.
"Just some smalltalk, little chitchat. Want in?" She said.
That sounded like an excellent use of time.
-[X]: Listen to what the Eldar have to say about Extradimensional energy channeling (starts warpcasting path, if taken; both must take it)
Samus
Channelling class was soon dominated by the Eldar as they explained the theory behind the usage of the Empyrean, its layers, the winds of magic, the importance of the runes, how it tied to emotions, concepts, ideas, other such fascinating aspects of Pleromic mythos. And you gobbled every bit of it spoken right up. The warnings of the powers of Chaos, the Undead, of veering too close to the raging inferno of the powers of Destruction, or poking into the fathomless depths where things far stranger and more monstrous than the Daemons lay.
And with Alyrsero giving his personal attentions to you and Arne, you were soon able to cast forth a basic manifestation of those abilities. Arne taking to the energies of Azyr and the discipline of Biomancy and Fulmination while you poked into the Maroon Wind of War; Rak, and the Disciplines of Divinitation and Fate.
Arne looked into the empyrean; focusing his spirit and then letting surging lightning through his fingers to envelop a target which not so much atomised as it decayed into quarks and leptons from the burst of power he had unleashed, another bit of focus allowing him to surge sudden power through his body for a burst of strength and durability to crush his opponents, and peering a bit into the starcharts with astromancy to get a better glimpse of what lay ahead, and flushed a bit when he got an inkling of your plans with him for the night.
You channeled the prowess of war; sensing conflict, weaving with it to strike where you needed to when you needed to; and twisting that path to certainty and hitting with a force to end a conflict with the drone at the behest of Alyrsero's guidance; weaving through its fusilade of lasers to get a single critical strike that sent it sparking to the ground lifelessly while not once being even threatened even by a seemingly impossible to avoid stream; reality twisting to prevent the minor scrapes and increase the potency of each blow, the machine's resistance only strengthening you further.
It all felt so natural to you, as if you were just taking a step with your legs.
"My...you are...quite the impressive learner." Alyrsero said, folding his arms behind him and giving it some thought before whispering to his kin.
Whispering something about how you were more than meets the eye.
"We should urge them to slow down lest they rush headlong into danger." Was something you caught on the wind as they spoke to each other, and a brief frown crossed your face. You were sure you could handle the risk, that's what you did after all.
But Arne stepped up and pulled your focus elsewhere, clapping you on the shoulder and smiling. "Literature class is next." He said.
Ah, so it was.

You were...definitely not expecting the literature class to be about Homestuck but it was about Homestuck. You had caught up to where the class was pretty quickly, but you'd need more time than to just read through it to fully let everything sink into your brain. It was definitely...it was a thing that was for sure. A weird thing but a thing.
Alyrsero though seemed to be pinching at his brow as he read through the mechanisms of SBURB while Karna spoke of the reference to gnostic lore within them. His smooth, agile features creased with annoyance while messy black hair fluffed slightly with his head movements. His intense blue eyes staring at the information in an attempt to absorb it.
Elerya was busy going through Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff, trying to get Samus to join in on the repetition of the memes within. Too many prices and values indeed. Samus seemed to be having fun, taking a look over at Alyrsero and reaching over to his shoulder to get the Eldar to pause and look towards her before her hand could touch him, his helm on the table and his eyes briefly catching with your own unhelmeted ones, getting him to smile a bit before speaking u p.
"Yes Samus?"
"She's going to ask what's wrong." You said, his brow quirking before shirking his shoulders.
"It's just that a lot of this feels vaguely familiar to me. Perhaps something in another life or some otherwhen that did not come to pass. Likely long and immensely complicated beyond reason." Alyrsero said with a sigh and a shake of his head.
"But I think I am in pleasant enough company for now." He said with a slight lean towards you as he once again tried to compare heights.
Still shorter than you were.
"After today we could go out. We've got time." You said, surprising Samus slightly with your boldness before Elerya looked at her expectantly.
"I...hrm...perhaps if...I will ask my companions if they would be willing to allow such a thing; and see if anyone else would like to come." He said, resting his hands on his lap.
"We could call it a date." You said, blushing a bit while he went rather red, his cheeks making an interesting glistening as his sparkly blood reached the vessels.
Elerya's blush though...she was quite literally glowing. Her psionically charged life fluid literally luminescent and making a reading light bright pinkish glow from her cheeks while her pupils formed into a heart shape as she clasped her hands together eagerly, a smirk on her face as she leaned in closer to both of you, blonde hair shaking gracefully with her movements as she pulled the rest of you in.
"Absolutely!" She said.
"Not to interrupt you four, but one of you is going to have to explain the importance of Troll Romance and its thematic meaning sooner or later." Karna said, bringing the four of you back to reality.
You looked down and...
Fuck...uhh...how do Austipices work?

This is a write-in.
Choose up to six-fight scene requests between the characters who can reasonably participate and I'll select from the most interesting and popular ones. Remember to [x] them so the bot can count them.
You can instead request a single interactive fight scene where you'll have more control over the moves made. For characters who use power armour; specify whether you want them to fight with it or not. (For Arne and Samus, you can specify whether they should fight in the power suit, zero suit, or just a body glove.)
