I did see that, but it seems like you didn't see that his shield was only shot a few times, or that the Cutters torn him into itty bitty pieces. We have more ways of attacking than just the Battery drones Plasma Blasts. If they want to form a shield wall, we can send in the cutters to rip them apart and the Scouts to melt them down.Did you not see the shield guy survive unscathed by the plasma barrage? Get a formation of those dudes, and they will completely nullify your blasters.
Eh, more dice will be thrown to gather energy. Whether it's more efficient or not depends on what we can learn from studying the creatures and the armor. For instance, investigating the creatures taught us that they're vulnerable to electric blasts, meaning we'll have an easier time defeating them in the future. Learning a weakness like that would be a better use of our time than gather energy. Another factor is that we can gather admittedly less energy in other places with no muss, no fuss. On the other hand, if we want to study the bodies and gear after this period, we'll have to come back to the swamp, track down more of the undead with this equipment, and kill them. Learning from these corpses will be a bigger hassle than gathering energy will.Besides, it's more efficient for the Battery Drones currently deployed to gather more energy rather than throw a handful of single dice at a material or information roll.
@Hangwind, how big are the corpses compared to the drones?
