Dragon Summoning

[x] In the name of appearing honest, tell Adia that Edaine is a dick.

[X] That was rude. Ignore Edaine until they apologize for kidnapping and enslaving you.

More than anything else, what Zalan (and by extension we) needs to move forwards is information, the faster the better. Playing along seems the best way to get Zalan out of the cell, which will help get him a better idea of the wider situation he's been dragged into.

[x] Tell them they'd better let you go before your smoking hot boyfriend shows up to rescue you by disassembling their castle like the brave and talented construction worker he is.
-[x] Actually maybe don't say that. Think it, though. Think it loudly.
-[x] You can get through this for him.

That said, it's important to stay motivated. Remember who's waiting for you back home, Zalan.

I'm curious about that mana thingy Edain used - are mana crystals/stones like that something used in Zalan's world?

Telling them we are not controlled is a risk - we are a dragon, after all. And a dead dragon is still a hoard of ingredients (blood, heart, scales, ...).

OK Technically yes, but do we have to make votes solely based on what we think is safest?

I feel like Zalan has been an honest, caring person so far (though he omits details that he doesn't like about himself). One of the traits I like is that he constantly tries to have positive, honest relationships with people, despite being awkward and often not knowing _how_ to interact (or maybe I'm just projecting. But that's sort of what we do in quests, right?).

Lying about being under their control doesn't quite make it impossible to earnestly try to have a positive relationship with them, but it does mean the relationship will be built upon a lie, and it'd take some effort to make sure that relationship doesn't fall apart when the truth inevitably comes out.

I feel like it's more interesting to me if Zalan honestly reaches out, tries to have genuinely positive relations with them (or at least with Adia, because fuuuck Edaine). It fits what came before, and I like the idea of Zalan being honest with people in the name of friendship/allyship/not-enemy-ship, even when it's inadvisable, rather than deceive them.

No. Suggestions can definitely modify the options.
Awesome!

[] "Hey, hey, hey, can we, you know, talk, instead of do spooky evil magic at each other? Please? We just met!"
edit: just remembered Zalan takes votes less as specific words and more as suggestions. Also forgot to include the base vote.
[X] - Be honest. Tell them their evil magic won't work and demand to be set free.
-[X] Try to ask that they stop doing spooky brainwashing magic please, it's making you uncomfortable.
-[X] Introduce yourself properly now that your translation thing is working

-[X]Be very descriptive about it. Attempt to explain that it's illegal to apply binding magic to sentient beings where you come from, and is considered a moral wrong on par with rape.

[X] - Be honest. Tell them their evil magic won't work and demand to be set free.
-[x] They don't appear to be malicious, and used the binding to protect themselves from an unknown being
-[X] Make it clear that attempting to bind him was still very rude

[X] - Play along. Pretend to be a bound summon. Follow Edaine's "orders" for now unless they're evil or dangerous.
[X] - Start talking soon. Just admit his translation spell kicked in and pretend to be their friend while lying as little as possible. This means he can start asking questions right away, and communicate that he's very hungover.
[x] In the name of appearing honest, tell Adia that Edaine is a dick.

[X] Explain that, despite Edaine's best efforts to convince you otherwise, you are in fact not planning on attacking them.
-[X] Be honest if and only if it comes up. If they directly ask if it's working? Tell them no. If they don't ask, let them assume.

So, Adia Faxti seems nice, acknowledging you as something whose wellbeing should be considered. Edaine Faxti seems like they are in over their head(pre binding behavour-> panicky?), using questionable means to ensure their (what it must look like from their perspective) mistake in summoning you doesn't hurt them or their loved ones.

[x] don't intentionally insult Edaine (like calling them a dick or confronting them with their immoral action too directly), yet

feel like we'd be too sick atm for good snappy comments/humor

[x] In the name of appearing honest, tell Adia that Edaine is a dick.

while not supporting this option, when not doing your best to understand them, Edaine does definetly look like a total dick (and might actually be one)
A dick that deserves close contact with the stomach contents of a dragon, speaking of which...

[Edit]
(at second thought the post reads too meme-y for my taste.
Zalan already felt nauseaus before and an intense Experimente like that failed binding can't be good for fighting nausea.
It might also help his situation, giving a good reason for the foxfolk to take him outside and giving a topic change from the binding, at least until He is outside and has a much better chance to run if needed. Aida seems worried for Zalan already and at that point probably wouldn't let Edaine keep Zalan a prisoner anymore, opting to help him without delay)
[End of Edit]

[x] Try to resist the nausea and its worsening because of the experience of the binding spell. When Edaine asks us, turn to look at them through the cage bars. Fail to resist the nausea while looking at Edaine and puke at their feet (infront of them, not literally at their feet)
-[x] speaking, pressing out a word at a time, trying to not puke more: "water? ... fresh... air?"

[x] feeling trapped between honest nature and the danger of truth... Avoid speaking about the binding magic.
-[x] if pressed admit it failed, that our people tend to protect themselves against it, because of the terrible times when summoning magic would abduct our ancestors.
[x] if nothing interjects or if they bring it up again: tell them the truth: You have no interest in harming them or anyone else.

[x] Puts on a poker face. "Hypothetically speaking, let's say that one day, you fell into an interplanar rift by accident and woke up in a summoning circle only for some random wizard to try magically binding you to their will. How would you react to that, Mr Wizard?"

Let's be honest though, sick and tired is the best tone for telling someone that they're a dick when they do something like that. It doesn't have to be witty :V

[X] That was rude. Ignore Edaine until they apologize for kidnapping and enslaving you.
[x] In the name of appearing honest, tell Adia that Edaine is a dick.

Establishing a basic level of respect is valuable. Someone punches you, and you tell their friend that they're a dick and ignore them, you establish that you expect to be treated with a level of respect and that you aren't going to act on their level so they need to rise to yours.

It doesn't really matter that he won't apologize, it establishes how Zalan should be treated.

What a dick. Though this was probably one of the… less bad options they could take "for safety" so best not to make them aware it didn't stick until we've proven friendly enough they will have a hard time convincing themselves to try something more… regrettable.

(Also I'm not entirely able to dismiss the possibility that some things you can get summoning appear friendly until you let them out of the seal, ala demons, so I will, grudgingly, only be annoyed at this action.)

so a quick question how skilled with magic are we? also how does magic work is it you cast a spell and nothing can change it or is magic like Diane Duane's young wizard series where its the mathematics behind the universe because if its the latter we could consider subverting any magic that might be cast on us

We have incredible skill… in a single super specialized field which is useless right now (ah PhDs). Otherwise we aren't very good.

Touché

While I agree on main skill being super specialized, i think it is also implied that Zalan is skilled at alchemy:

[...]"Impressive," says Tieran-Sha. "This school is provident indeed, to lavish medicine of such quality on kits passed out to students. I've seen more meager offerings at sites where trauma is expected."

"Well, ah... my kit might not be completely standard," says Zalan, with a nervous smile. "Onnnn that note, it also contains three Life magic pills which uh... Well, I bet I could impress you twice."

"Still Zalan the alchemist, eh?" asks Tier with a playful tone. [...]
Sounds to me like he tinkered with an existing patch and made it better. So much better that it impresses Tier, who has seen what first aid kits in dangerous workplaces look like. And once told that Zalan made it Tier isn't suprised at all, as if that level of competence is to be expected from Zalan.

And if I'm quoting him already...
(@Ralson Do suggestions have to be suggestions one would tell Zalan (like asking him to fight the nausea) or can it also include suggestions about him (like failing the fight against nausea)? Assuming the latter, but would like to make sure)

Something I just realized - if the inoculation made the binding appear to have succeeded, perhaps the dragons that created that inoculation knew what they were doing?

Screw this guy and screw deception about the binding. Playing along isn't going to last, Zelan's shit at social subterfuge at the best of times and these ain't the best of times, and when it inevitably blows up in his face he's going to confirm his untrustworthiness to these people.

Keep talking to Adia exactly as you have been (I remind the thread we still owe them a bow or whatever a dragon courtesy would be in response to their curtsey). Ignore the mage.

[X] Maybe you should offer to look over the circle for mistakes. It would be unfortunate if they would rip anybody else away right after confessing to the person they were in love with.

The fact that bindings don't work on us is an ace in the hole we can't afford to give up. I'd rather that any mage pissed at us try an option that doesn't work before breaking out the fireballs. Plus we have a literal cheat sheet to help sell the charade.
It's made so it appears to succeed, and tells him enough to play along.
