Dragon Summoning

[] - Start talking soon. Just admit his translation spell kicked in and pretend to be their friend while lying as little as possible. This means he can start asking questions right away, and communicate that he's very hungover.
... Question. Can he specifically pretend that it was the binding that made his translation spell work?

[X] - Play along. Pretend to be a bound summon. Follow Edaine's "orders" for now unless they're evil or dangerous.

Hmmmm... whilst I lean towards subterfuge, I'm not convinced Zalan is particularly adept at deception given what we've seen thusfar. An honest, measured approach may be better in the long run.

[X] - Start talking soon. It's been a very long day and this is no time to be beating around the bush. Don't infodump on them though. Start with essentials and key words, concepts that would be easy to grasp. You can pass it off as the thingy link if need be.
[X] - On the side, contemplate righteous indignation about brainwashing/enslavement magic. Let that percolate and figure out some choice words for later.

[X] That was rude. Ignore Edaine until they apologize for kidnapping and enslaving you.

[X] Play along. We don't wanna put ourselves at risk for now.

"But- but, Ivarey said she didn't have to see a priestess, and Iskalth said he didn't have to see a priestess, and Skev said he didn't have to see a priestess..."
That is very concerning. An awful lot of dragons, many of them students, got dragged across realities. Any that haven't had their inoculations could be in a great deal of trouble.

While Adia seems nice enough she(?) was apparently a willing participant in an effort to bind a demon. That might not be as bad as it sounds, but caution is advisable.

We are weak, unarmed, and ignorant. Lets not pick a fight we don't need to. It remains possible they are just frightened and panicy rather than deliberatly malicious.

[X] Try to recall if a 'spider demon' is a sapient and or inherently hostile creature. And if there are non-terrible reasons for summoning one.

Just ignore the Hedge Mage and talk to Adia like nothing happened.
The binding ritual might have failed but the cage remains a problem.

So, they realized it's a dragon and then went forward with the binding (ie, enslaving) ritual? Means, dragons are known in this world, and they do have the means to bind them, which had to be developed. So, there was a time when they were fine with summoning and binding dragons. Even if that binding now is 'only' to make sure the dragon doesn't attack, they are completely fine to use such means (in contrast to 'oh sorry, we tried something different ... who and what are you?').

Being openly hostile when the means to bind a dragon were just a few minutes away seems like a bad idea - who knows whether they've also got some dragon-killer weapons lying around? And dragons are sought after for the valuable ingredients ...

Inexperienced mage, arrogant enough to consider you a thing to be bound instead of a person like them. Could be nobility, but it could also be that mages who work with summoning magic are just Like That.

Adia seems, at the very least, willing to consider us a person. I might be reading too much into their attitude this early, but they seem like someone who's seen enough monsters to recognise we might not be one.

[x] while you at it, make an appropriately rude gesture to Edaine, he deserves it.

[X] I know mages like you back home. They usually die fairly quickly. Like a child obsessed with fire no matter how many times they are told to stop the continue to light matches. Confident they know what to expect even when mistakes are made. Then they are surprised they burned their families and home to the ground.

If we don't play along, do we have to make demands in our clear position of weakness? The fox wizard is a massive donger, but IDK I'm hoping Aida can be reasoned with without us lying that we've been magically enforced to be loyal, and I'm hoping we can negotiate without immediately calling them evil (which, yeah the fox is probably evil, but if we call them evil it's probably going to be taken as an insult, which would make negotiating harder).

Telling them we are not controlled is a risk - we are a dragon, after all. And a dead dragon is still a hoard of ingredients (blood, heart, scales, ...).
