Death World creature quest

[X] Investigate - Bushes surrounding us and the tree tops above
Due to your current position underground, it's impossible to see further than a few feet. You would have to emerge and improve your sensory organs for such an action to become successful.

-[X] Investigate the other worm

A basic looking worm with a puckered mouth part and no eyes. You can tell that it can travel surprisingly quickly based on it's rapid movements so far, as well as slip out of danger with equal ease. It unnerves you slightly, honestly.

Size comparison:

---

[X] Continue dragging the food in, but leave a portion of it out to satisfy any potential threats.
- [X] Eat any bits that fall off as we drag it further in.

Burying your immediate instincts until you're no longer quite as angry, you instead turn back to your task of pulling - You wouldn't want your efforts or (more importantly) the food to be wasted!

Tugging with renewed ferocity, you wiggle backwards with the meat in tow.

Whoops, in your vigour induced haze, it seems you've torn off a piece of it! Still, no sense in leaving stuff lying around...

NOM!!

Wow, that sure was tasty - But wait, what's going on!?

You feel...
Different...

Choose two adaptations from this list:
[] Beady eyes - Sensing 2.
[] Smooth armoured carapace – Armour 3, Health 2, deflection 1 (Slicing), silence 1.
[] Thin legs – Speed 3, strength 2.
[] Grabbing mandibles – Piercing 3, slicing 2.
[] Fangs – Piercing 3, Venom 1.
[] Razor mouth – piercing 1, slicing 2.

Oh no! Thanks to your momentary distraction, you didn't notice the wormy thing approach and then pass by your burrow. They are
way to close to comfort, causing you to shiver in revulsion.

And to make matters worse, it's started raining!

What do?

this update was a bother for some reason, glad it's finally done.

[X] investigate- now that the worm is above us check him out in detail and use our senses to check the clearing as well that fight had to attract others.

You can't discover anything new about the wormy thing with mere sight alone, despite how close it is to you. Furthermore, the clearing is currently empty besides the blood, meat and wormy thing - Nothing has changed about it's appearance so far...

[x] investigate the soil to ensure its solid enough to last throw the rainstorm without turning into mud.

Recalling your mud tasting session earlier, you decide that it's the right consistency to stay semi-solid throughout the coming rainfall, however it will likely become mud at the very top centimetres.

You resolve to build your burrow quite deeply in preparation.

---

[x] Burrow deeper before turning upwards and burrowing upwards, carve out a small cavern to wait out the rain in underground.

Seeing as the worm has ignored you thus far and you are likely to stay here for a while, you get to work constructing a burrow to live within.

Meanwhile, the rainfall becomes steadily heavier, filling the air with a multitude of heavy droplets. Where they strike the ground, great splashes of muddy water are flung upwards and the soil becomes ever more soaked.

Already, puddles are beginning to form in your vicinity.

After what feels like an age of steady digging to the sound of rhythmic tapping and splashing, your burrow is completed. It's beauty is enough to bring a single, manly tear to your eye.

Your new legs have payed off dividends, it seems.

At the same time, you can tell that the worm creature has begun gorging itself, half submerged and writhing within it's food source. How repulsive.

Shrugging off your distaste, you move to pull in your scavenged treat...

Wait.

...

...

Movement from the north - A singular reptilian eye, peaking over a fallen log.

What do?

[X] investigate- use our senses to see whats happening above while we work.

A mostly empty, slightly soaked forest clearing. But what's that thing up there?

[X] Investigate Reptillian eye

It's gone!!

---

[X] get our meat in and burrow deeper after making sure we dont get flooded from rainfall after all this eat the rest of the meat.

Likely dislodged by the stormy weather, leaves and living debris are scattered into the clearing. This storm is truly intimidating, something you had never expected from your environment...

The rain only becomes heavier and heavier, but all the while you work.

First, you drag your meat meal further into your burrow, preparing to hide it as thoroughly as possible. It's easy enough to attempt, but the true tests haven't started yet.

A leak is sprung by the food's movements, but you do not panic, for fear is the mind killer which cannot be given in to, no matter what your instincts tell you. Instead, you continue your efforts with steel determination.

A second tunnel is dug, high enough to weather this tropical storm, but low enough to be accessible nonetheless. It is here that your true burrow will be placed, hopefully safe from the encroaching rainwater.

Uh oh, this is bad.

The water level is rising far faster than you'd anticipated, vast globular droplets depositing twice your weight in water onto the ground per second. Drastic action needs to be taken.

Damn, you don't even have enough time to divert the water elsewhere, even with your prolific tunnelling speeds. You're gonna have to come up with somethi-

...

...

W-What the hell is that thunderous noise from above you...?

...Crap.

[X] Continue attempting to redirect the water.
[X] Flee your position, leaving the meat behind.
[X] Try to flee with your meat in tow.
[X] Write-in.

[X] Investigate the creature

You can tell immediately upon looking at this creature that it's designed to catch aquatic prey, and that this translates over to underground creatures as well. You're lucky that it's eyesight appears to be underdeveloped, else you'd really be starting to worry at this point.

[X] Investigate surroundings.

Everything above ground is the same as before, barring the new arrival.

---

[x] Flee your position leaving the meat behind.
-[x] Do so by tunnelling above the water level that the pit we have created has made.
-[x] Aim tunnel for a tree we can bore into.

Deciding to cut your losses and escape whilst you still can, you abandon your tasty, tasty morsels and attack the wall with desperate thrusts of your wiggly body. You wiggle so hard and fast in fact, that you immediately begin to excavate a hallway.

Meanwhile, you sense a new challenger approach, likely drawn out of hiding by the lobster thing that had just arrived. It's long and sinuous, with a grin that you just don't like. Already, you wish you could eat it, but alas, this thing is far out of your weight class for now.

With eyes locked on it's apparent opponent, it darts forward with extreme speed and confronts the monster crustacean. Watching them square up to each other is simultaneously awe inspiring and intimidating, two biological killing machines about to clash above your head. For a second, you ponder the strength of your soil, before banishing the thought - You'll deal with that when it needs dealing with.

In a flash, they both cross the clearing and collide powerfully with each other, the shock-wave alone enough to dislodge your footing.

A wound!

Though you wish you could observe more of their battle, you have more important things to worry about. The water is rising much faster than you anticipated, encroaching just as quickly as you can escape it. You're still safe from it for now, but if the rainfall increases in pace any further, you just might become trapped!

The soft vibration of an impact lets you know that the serpent thing's torn-off flesh has landed, directly above your hiding place by the sounds of things.

[X] Dig upward towards the flesh and take a bite.
[X] Continue towards the tree without pausing.
[X] Emerge from the ground before you become trapped.
[X] Write in.

This update took me nine hours of constant work to complete (I counted), which means that it's impossible for me to update the quest every day. As a result, updates will come out as soon as i can complete all the pictures, which will likely be between two and seven days of work (Most likely two or three).
