Dark Prince of Camelot

Yes, and I'm aware of that and already said as such prior.

Doesn't mean I don't want some damn honor instilled IC for later, even if it's buried under the ages of hardship.

'Tis a schism of OOC and IC I suppose
Honor is fine. Honor is great. I enjoy being honorable. I don't intend to let a magical Terminator eat these folk. But nowhere was it stated or implied that we were hired to provide security. So we are not "only following our word to the letter", we are going above and beyond what the bargain entailed for quite possibly nothing but the goodwill of the people involved; you know, how a good person does.

Coo coo; glad we're on the same page then (I believe)

Gotta say I'm really liking the idea of throwing the artifact like a football mostly because it's funny, partly because it damages the Seeker without us bringing out the sword, while also not freaking out our entourage like RIP AND TEARING the guy would

Simply booking it is a completely valid option, two minutes is more than enough time to get in the pick up truck and fuck right off.

We can't make an IC plan around our allies simply because we don't know their full capabilities. Despite what anime may lead you to believe, talking is not a free action.

So we don't know what they can do and have no time to find out, we are unwilling to use our Heraldry, and we have a perfectly viable means of escape.

So why not take it? And if you are worried about it tracking us down, we can lead it to a place where we can fight it on our terms. Like say, somewhere loaded with C4/Tactical Lightning strike rituals/ Fire hoses loaded with Acid.

[X] Run. Just get in the truck and book it.
-[X] Tell them of the Seeker's behavorial patterns and alert them to the possibility of attack.
--[X] Suggest that we ambush it in turn.

Seekers don't conduct electricity super well, so it would be similar to a bird on a wire. I'm sure it could work with some wrangling but I don't know the physics enough to comment right now.
Neither is a human body. The fun begins when the electric current has nowhere else to go. If a body severs a cable when it falls, it is in for a shock.

That said, I think the gravity already provides a good enough boost for the encounter.

[ ] Plan: Master pitcher
-[ ] Grab the ball, run out of a warehouse, and throw it as high up as you can muster. Time it so that the sorcerers appears close to the apex so that it feels the fall.
-[ ] Estimate where it'll land, gather the mortals and tell them to prepare everything they've got to fry it when it falls down.
--[ ] Run it down with the truck?
-[ ] Hope you've softened it up enough and go for the kill.

The kids can't be completely useless if they think they can take on most threats, but we probably should appeal to Bone. We've got about a minute or two at most to explain anything, so we must be quick. Bone is the authority here, and it's his granddaughter's life that's on the line. He is more likely to cooperate, and the rest should follow.

If we can get an alpha strike in, we stand a better chance of dealing with it permanently.

Is there something we can use as an impromptu weapon that would be somewhat effective? What if we run a truck into it?

Hit it with a truck is another great idea. Tell Bone to get behind the wheel, then ram whatever falls down before it can recover.

Talking may not be a free action, but elevator pitch only takes 30 sec, we should aim for something similar.

Also wow, the Halloween thing is really annoying.

So our working plans are "Make like Doomguy" and "Pretend to be an NFL star".

Any other suggestions, or do we start voting?

personally, im in favor of the NFL star/master pitcher plan. plus, i don't have much to suggest by way of combat here, planning things like that has never been my strong suit. i'm always up for more suggestions, though.

either way, may as well cast my vote in advance, since i'm going to be gone for most of the day and not likely to return until late:

feel free to keep discussing, though

Do note that the only reason we have the privilege of two minutes is because of the magic box the balls are in. Taking them out of said box will drastically cut the time it would take for the seeker to home in on our position.

Unless of course, what you intended was for us to hurl the box with the balls in it. In which in that case you better edit the plan for clarity.

Not the impression I've got. They already know the last location of the ball. Two minutes is what is required for them to cast the spell.

They home in on the ball, why would we mask it when our intention is to make them appear at the ball's location (i.e. in the air)?

Nevill is right here. The ball isn't actually a summoning spell - it's an Architect Artifact that Morgana stole a long time ago. She kept it in the box and similar enchantments to hide it from the Architects, but she specifically let Robin and Terri steal it so that they'd open the box and the Architects would hunt them down for her.

Morgana is big on not doing anything she could get others to do instead.

When they appear, it's going to be at the position the artefact is at right? Not the last known location of the artefact? As in, having packed the balls into the box and closed the lid, taking the box for a drive won't leave the seeker appearing back at the warehouse?

If it's the last location, then I vote booking it, with the box and explaining while constantly driving. Constant movement should hopefully mean that we're no longer in the same place as where the seeker smells our trail.

I'm pretty sure it's not simply last known location.

I wonder if we can pull up something heavy over the ball, then cut the rope. So we start with throwing the ball up once the time is nearly up, Seeker teleports in the air, drops down, and we drop [something heavy] on it. Then proceed with magic attacks. It'd be more subtle than going outside, but we lose the option of ramming it with a truck.

It's the last known location, as I understand it. If we grab the box and run, we might get away. There might be complications, as these things are implied to have 'other' means of detection (which might just be a reference to their normal senses), and the orb emits faint power even through the box.

But it should be doable.

I still haven't voted because, honestly, I see fighting as a losing proposition one way or another. Either we risk one of the other 3 dying, or we risk too many questions.

Our job was "appraise the doodad".
Our appraisal is "IT IS A TRAP!".
The magic ball doodad is going to keep drawing these Architect things. If we kill this Seeker, the next time the box opens, something else shows up.
So we should ditch the damn doodad and evacuate everyone present.
Because this is a trap. Then, if the Seeker takes the doodad and leaves, we go somewhere calm and explain what's up.
If it grabs the doodad and follows us, then we can have gained some ground on it.

If we fight and kill the Seeker, our next course of action needs to be "leave the doodad there for the next Architect thing to pick up and get the hell out of Dodge".

Keeping the ball artifact should be a non-starter.

There are possibilities. Supposedly Auntie knows the enchantment to hide it from the Architects. Bone might have something too, given his expertise, even if it would be something more generic. At the very least he might know people willing to buy it with all the strings attached.

Or it can be returned to the previous owner, whom we are yet to meet.

However, keeping the shiny is probably last on my list of concerns.

Edit: in fact, as far as my plan is concerned, the ball might shatter from the impact. Depends on what it's made of.

Edit2: Thinking about it, I see no reason not to combine the two. Pitch the ball as far from ourselves as we can manage, and leg it. This might cause the kids to question our actions, but that's a minor annoyance.

The ball acts as a homing beacon, the box cancels that beacon out. So right now the Seeker's headed towards the last known location, but if you remove the ball from the box the teleport will "snap" to the ball's location.

Seriously guys, that thing's not worth keeping.

[X] Convince the other 3 that the ball isn't worth their lives and will continue to bring nothing but trouble. Then convince them to run with you.
-[X] If they argue the point, grab them and run.
-[X] Leave the box open on the ground just outside the warehouse, ready for the Seeker to grab.
-[X] Get the hell out of there ASAP with everyone in tow.

4 Charisma dice. 2 minutes tops. And we must put some distance between us and the Seeker in that time.

Perhaps grab them now, convince later?

Grabbing them by the scruffs of their necks counts as "convincing", right?
EDIT: Added a sub-vote to just grab their stupid selves if they argue.

This plan is good, it just needs a little cleaning up. Literally, somebody call a janitor after we're done. :V
