I'll be honest, I'd like to stay here talking and exchanging information for as long as we can, mind effect aside. Don't ask for anything or agree to anything, but do freely exchange information so we properly contextualize why she's here and she properly contextualizes what she can offer us.

[x] Admit your ignorance; you don't know who she is or why she's here.
-[x] You're not sick, either.
-[x] Possession? As in, "take over your body" possession?
-[x] Ask whatever questions come to mind.
-[X] Do not under any circumstances agree to any deals or bargains with this entity right now.

So she's a demon bound to an imprisoned body? So red writing is already a warning sign but her voice has the most positive effect on us we can remember to the extent it confuses us and she's talking about contracts and possession. We have to tread carefully here.

-[x] How does she interpret the decision to imprison her? As in, what does it look like from her end?
-[x] Ask whatever questions come to mind but be evasive when it comes to providing answers.
-[x] Sneak up the stairs and investigate the area before agreeing to anything. Maybe her prison's location will tell you something useful?

Yes, I think if we can find a price equal to releasing her without getting involved in a long-term contract that would definitely be best. But given that we get the fuck out of here when our anchor is done in 1.5-2 weeks, as long as we avoid entanglements longer than that we're safer than your average.

e: ALso very important that in releasing her we also get her to agree to our safety.

We don't know whether our anchor cycles us back to the same place repeatedly. Until we can establish that I'd prefer to not assume that we can leave and never come back the way Jade could. In fact exactly the opposite: Until proven otherwise, I am going to assume that we will eventually be forced to return to any given location, if only because the dice will eventually offer us a choice between four absolutely horrible options.

To be honest I feel like soul binding contracts and possession are the one thing we're no safer from than anyone else. We can apparently take people with us when we travel so I don't think it can be counted on as a method of parasite removal and soul magic is something everyone should worry about. Not to say we're doomed but we ought to be careful because I don't think our dimension hopping will automatically save us.

Yes, which is why I'm saying to not involve ourselves in any kind of contract like that.

"Well, I can't. Purging your curse or illness seems like a fair trade for my freedom, but if you want more, I'm afraid we'll need to work out a proper covenant. Know that I don't accept post-death soul leases anymore, not after this. I also never liked sacrifices to begin with. Unless you can think of something better, that leaves shared possession."
Anything beyond "purging your curse or illness" requires "shared possession". Which is to say, she hitches a ride.

I'm going to be pretty amused if we end up just sitting here talking to her for two weeks and then leaving. It'd be... something of a dick move, but with the mind-affecting thing, well.

Well, we don't have an illness, so presumably we can work with "a curse or illness" as the baseline for what we can ask of her instead.

Tempted to tack a 'Make sure you don't accept and bargains or agree to any deals.' Onto the end of my vote, but yeah, for now questions, cautious questions.

That's probably a very good idea.

...I wonder if we need to worry about any of our elementals accidentally making a deal of some kind.

Hopefully not... Added it.

[x] First and foremost: Hostile-djinn/devil/fae protocols.
-[x] Accept no deals, and take care not to offer any, even by accident - state preferences instead of making requests or agreeing to things!
-[x] No true or full names - call yourself Mel or another distant nickname.
-[x] Follow whatever other protocols your folklore and legends suggest.
-[x] Otherwise be generally polite and friendly.

-[x] Talking to her without knowing her name is awkward.
-[x] Whatever she's doing with her voice is also causing you some trouble.
-[x] Try to figure out what her story is.
-[x] Tell her your own story.
