I like when Melia questions everything and ends up 5 questions away from what she was originally asking about. I would like to see that in the next update.

On the other hand, I was specifically going to ask that we avoided this vote, given the possible mind control - unplanned actions are more dangerous than usual.

I feel the risk is minimal compared to the reward of Melia not clamping down on her usual personality.

And telling her our story, which is in the vote, is waaaay riskier than this, anyway.

vvv alright then

You're probably right, but that bandwagon is firmly underway, whilst asking random extra unplanned questions isn't. Best to minimise the threat I can affect.

I'll take that out, then.

Fair enough.

I have to say, though, that this entity is at least refreshingly frank about, what was it... "Know that I don't accept post-death soul leases anymore, not after this. I also never liked sacrifices to begin with." This suggests that they are a being that is at least not entirely depraved and malign, a metaphysical 'businesswoman' who happens to run a rather harsh business, rather than the magical equivalent of a serial killer. Someone you would not by definition have to be insane to bargain with.

At the same time, it is strongly implied that she's accepted sacrifices and let people lease if not sell her their souls. So, wow.

You wouldn't have to be crazy to want to have dealings with her, but it helps. No wonder her first assumption is that Melia is desperately ill.

It's absolutely not a safe assumption to run under, but I'm gonna laugh if it turns out Melia finding her voice pleasant is just puberty hitting her.

Well, I don't remember Melia being specifically a lesbian (although the track record of SV female protagonists tends to swing that way, admittedly).

And while the (glamoured-up?) entity in the circle is admittedly beautiful, she's certainly not the only beautiful woman Melia's ever seen. Nor is Melia so young that she'll never have experienced romantic attraction before (presumably).

So even if she's attracted to women, there's no obvious reason why this entity's voice should be uniquely appealing if magic isn't involved.

I'd bet long odds on a glamour.

I'd have expected whoever imprisoned her to have gagged her if she was known to have a charm effect. Maybe they thought that isolation would be enough?

Note that her thing about "they made you sneak in" strongly suggests that this place is guarded.
