Command: Modern Air & Naval Operations: Let's Play and Expansions

After witnessing this unfortunate incident, I, being an avid Command player myself, can answer some questions.

-Scoring is based on events done by the scenario maker. So a simple scoring for wiping a target event has the trigger of "Unit Destroyed" and the result of the attacker gaining points. Thus, if the scenario designer wanted to, they could have automatically ended the scenario with a total defeat or at least given a major points loss if any Russian ships were hit. In this scenario, they didn't.
-The reason why Israel shot down the missiles is because right now in Command, a side sees any missile within sensor range as hostile.

-Incidentally, in the latest patch, Command changed the anti-missile equations greatly (and for the better). Previously, missiles were actually the easiest to shoot down, because you used the launchers hit chance and nothing else. Now there's a ton of negative modifiers like signature and speed.

Oh my god what the fuck poaw, this is crazy awesome

But wait! There's more!

I am currently running a veritable conga line of strike aircraft, and slinging ineffectual bombs at ammo bunkers. Until I ran out of standard JDAMs, and was therefore forced to use the ones designed for penetrating bunkers (you read that right). In my apathy I've allowed most of my support assists to RTB without replacements on station. This turned out to be a mistake, as the remnants of the Syrian IADS energized their radars and started slinging missiles fucking everywhere.

Like every single missile site I hadn't bombed into oblivion turned on at once and started firing like crazy. Pairs of missile all over the map, the only thing that staved off diaster was the fact that the Typhoon has such a beast mode defensive ECM suite (65% roll and another 55% roll for a chance to beat the Sa-5's seekerhead). Unfortunately Strike Eagles aren't so well furnished, so one of them ate shit.

Additionally an SSGN popped up. That wasn't too bad, I have helos ready to prosecute pop-up subsurface and surface contacts, so I launch a pair of them to check it out. This is the result (read the combat log text), I'll explain it after:

The dirty son of a bitch dodged my torpedo and surfaced. So I sank the sub with the door gun. How fucking Top Gun is that?

PS I just read the combat log closely myself and realized it was a Russian sub....which should have been obvious because it was ID'ed as an SSGN and Syria doesn't have any nuclear subs...

So yeah I think I've broken the simulation.

So have you gotten around to carpet-bombing the Damascus site yet, leveling the surrounding civilian factories in the process?

Stop being the worst!

Well I am sure they're currently having an emergency session of government to vote into being a law that lets them assemble a firing line for ... well, Lord High Admiral Poaw-Custer there.

So will your next scenario be a full-up WW3 one? Because it totally should be. Keep the narrative going. "After the ill-fated Syrian intervention..."

I think the door gunner of that ASW chopper is going to get a medal nailed to his fucking forehead.

The medal is going to be taped to an AMRAAM, which the USAF will launch at them because poaw's clearly gone rogue. (Someone make this scenario now).

I think the Pentagon's busy trying to figure out just how crazy Sir Lord High Admiral Custer poaw has gone.

You just door-gunned a russian SSGM I'm in tears.
That would actually be WW3.
Nope, because noone is going to believe it could happen.

But, seriously, how is that even possible to damage a submarine hull with a minigun?! There's a bug report to send here. (^_^);

Sadly enough, there are not enough weapons in the world for all the volunteers for the firing squad. XD

They're sending in two carrier battlegroups to take out his rogue command. :(

It'd be a totally legitimate technothriller story. "The year is 2014. The place-Syria. A multinational strike team goes into Syria seeking to save lives-and are broken by what they see. As their admiral attacks Russian nuclear submarines, the Russians put an ultimatum on the US Navy. Stop the rogue admiral-or start a nuclear war."

I think we just saw poaw's white phosphorous scene.

"In 2014, a fleet on crack was declared rogue by a military court for a crime they absolutely did commit. These ships promptly escaped from a maximum security blockade to the Pacific Ocean. Today, still wanted by the world governments they survive as gentlemen of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The poaw-Team."

I dunno, taking out a sub with a door gunner might be more one of the hallucinations after the WP scene.

What are you dropping on those "bunkers," poaw?

Mk82s and Mk84s with precision guidance kits, a few Mk83s too ("Ze bombs ze do nothing."). I just switched to BLU-109s/116s that have about 4x more penetration. JSOWs with BROACH warheads, SCALP EGs, and SLAM-ERs get it done as well, Brimstones for whatever reason won't target static ground targets.

How did Raffie's ECM package fared against the IADS, BTW?

They haven't been shot at yet, because I've been using them for my dedicated MiGCAP/SCALP carriers; so they were only there with a massive package of jammers, decoys, and ARMs that shut down any attempt; or they were simply out of range because with SCALP they don't even need to leave the landing pattern to fire.

I'm sure there is a radar somewhere turning on and off while I manage tankers and re-arming aircraft. I probably won't see how the Rafale fares because now that I'm just staring at the screen looking for radars turning on they're not going to last. Air-to-air though, it was comical with the MICA IR + AEW.

Due to a quirk of the UI and me not really paying attention, I just launched a large number of cruise missiles at Southern Syria.....

Except I did it from just north east of the island of Crete, so they'll fly over Israel...

Ouch. But don't you have similar standoff weapons on your Hornets, though?

I guess the missile was somewhat effective at shooting down enemy planes, then?
