One of the free cities from game of thrones, they are trade and production city, lots of slaves
Maybe i should have said Essos
I'd prefer to be like Braavos, if we are going to be similar to one of the Free Cities from the GoT.

If we start slavery with 25% of our population as slaves, then it is likely that by the time we start regular turns the majority of our people will be slaves. If we are attacked, the slaves will sabotage our defences in the hope the invader will free at least some of them.

As a side note @Oshha how easy is it going to be to derail the events of "canon" Chronicles of Nations? I understand that it is partly our fault for choosing to cross the sea but it seems a bit narratively wasteful to have some of the other civs be the Chronicles of Nations civs if we meet them, and thus can influence them, so early. Of course it is also possible that I misinterpreted things and they are there more to make things easier for you to run the quest than for us to have a chance to play outsiders looking in, which would be perfectly understandable.

EDIT: If we are going to be boring hopefully we can be less boring.

Combine slaves, raiding and trade to get the slave trade going! Merchant Republic go!

Can someone explain the Slave thing to me? Why are so many people voting for it?

There is the steep difficulty curve in that you would need to find their region and discover them first before then being able to interact with them on a meaningful level. But once you got interaction going with them, you would butterfly away things by just existing and getting involved in events that you aren't previously involved in.

So let's see...the most difficult part is finding them, then a potentially difficult part would be getting meaningful interaction with them and it would be hilariously easy to derail canon events by the dint of being involved in them.

Ah, I misread your reply above and thought we had already found them. This makes much more sense now.
