Its, just, maybe space the catastrophes a bit out? After the current ones are dealt with?

I mean we pretty much are running from fire to fire. If there are no wars or deicides or grand rituals we have to interfere with for a year we could have a few half year activities, with something like ,

we spend 1 time with our friends 2 learning magic 3 interacting with our allies.
Now chose one to actually write out. Because npcs react to our absence, i feel like we are neglecting them.
If we dont spend our one monthly action to visit a friend three times that means we havent seen them in three months which, given that we have portals, seems unrealistic. Just maybe automate some of the small stuff. Or if you have already been doing so show us a bit of that.

I really like your world, your magic , the people in it with their own goals and opinions. Everybody is always busy,
but the mc is as you said 13 and everybody is waiting for her to do what she promised, learn, and meet up with all her friends. Its a bit much for her.

Edit: feel free to ignore my ideas, i wont be annoyed this is your quest and i cant even write a good short story.

On the other hand, the shorter time in Hedge or School of Sorcery was cool to read.
And if we get into a situation where we don't have looming catastrophes for a year, we could also pay more attention to her education.
Worldbulding on how stuff like alchemy and crafting works AND getting her new stuff/abilities.

Maybe we should ask Samaya what she thinks.
She did this before, so maybe she has good ideas about how to deal with an elf with loved ones that may be forced to fight back against being freed. (risk minimization)
She could also have experience with elves in comfortable (compared to average slaves) positions.
That's a possibility. Do you want to go ahead and do that, y'all?
Sounds peachy keen to me, I am all for it. Samaya is a veteran elf liberator.

you knock Green Flame out (or otherwise incapacitate her), you should be able to carry her through a portal to the underground palace or somewhere else Mishrak can operate on her without being disturbed.
I was under the impression that she could only go a few miles before suffering 'unbearable pain', so I wished to spare her such and bring our chosen surgeon to her.

I have never seen even a single power ranger episode, but you have my support.
I've leaned into the whole 'videogame sandgame rpg' thing, which is why it seems like none of the NPCs can get much done unless Elys is there to see it.
Honestly, that works so long as, outside of visible doom counters, the plot doesn't progress without us. ;^)
Glad to have you here! Stick around, join us by the fire. Metaphorically, of course. We here at Chosen by the Dragon endorse water and all that teems within it.

I assume that, like lessons with Raef, we go around and see Dorian and company every once in a while offscreen. We just need to go onscreen for the big stuff to happen.

I was under the impression that she could only go a few miles before suffering 'unbearable pain', so I wished to spare her such and bring our chosen surgeon to her.
Another thing we can ask Samaya about:
If the "Galadan the Mystic tells her to" thing doesn't work to lift the restriction, is there a good way to have her be temporarily be unable to feel the 'unbearable pain' the slavemagic would cause her. (Elf grade sleep potion, sleep spell, ...)

So i didnt really read the discussion before now but i had a few ideas, if someone already had those feel free to tell me.
1. Our uncle could create liveforms with a specialisation in lifemagic, right? I mean he can make his children shapeshifters and dragons, and he knows more about lifemagic than anyone else right? Even if it impossible to make an allrounder lifemage from nothing, maybe a specialist is possible. Like a being of the deep, that can only do sexchanges. Or only heal bodytrauma. Or only make someone a little longer lived. Just really good at one thing. Not as good as theor father, but enough that peope can make shrines at a harbour and if enough people gather and pray for help one of these shows up. This way mishrak wont have to all the work on his own AND gain massive popularity. Also make the new docs really big so they cant easily be kidnapped.

im sure none of cadre F would oppose greenflames freedom, but it would upend thier lives, and they all come with thier own loose ends.

-how does prentigold react to loosing greenflame?
i honestly have no clue, that man's a wild card, i feel like we dont know the first thing about what wed need to know to attempt to suss out what the safe, pragmatic, ration and self interested course of action is for him once greenflame is either meerly unbound, or unbound and missing.

-is greenflame safe to stay in sambia and at the academy specifically?
greenflame is a powerhouse, we all know this, but she was captured once..
a disguise perhaps? then again, raef and elys are only ever at the academy intermittently. to continue to look out for cadre F, she'd need to be there with regularity. (providing cadre F donot relocate either)

-what happens to cadre F is greenflame just dissapears but they stay?
they get a new form tutor? who could be nice or could be a big danger to them. maybe they just dont have a form tutor anymore, as a part of prentigolds whole sink or swim mentality, "you lost her, if u want one go get her back or find a new one"
i dont think prentigold would actively punish them tho. because that doesnt make his chattel return (or does it?), and they arent the ones who stole her from him. if elys is still able to actively interfer in thier lives, (as in, she can still visit the school) then they can still get help with thier existential threats.

-will prentigold attribute the dissapearence to elys? and if so, will elys still be able to visit the academy? will mishrak still be able to sponsor students? will the mercenaries still be able to protect the space gonne project?
again, this man confounds me, so i cannot say, but id say its a reasonable risk to factor in.

-if cadre F have to leave, what happens then?
so, but hook or by crook, they will still be able to study magic,
isolia will be safe from her ""sponsor""
venta and dorian will either be away from family, or have to bring thier families with them.
philander has younger siblings to worry about and rescue (which only failed last time because he didnt hide them well enough at the academy, he wont have to hide them from elys and co, so they can be extracted at the same time as him)(new kids that dont exist yet are not an imediate concern, and so do not require immediate attention.)

-how will dorian's family feel about having to leave thier old life behind? how will the goblin community feel if they need to be evacuated? will venta still be able to visit if they are safe to stay?
i dont have extra things to say on this point

started writting this when i posted my previous comment but couldnt finish it. have now

He could, I think creating and educating such a creature is within his power, but also, while we all love Catharne, creating sentient creatures to serve as functionaries can border on the unethical at times. The only real exception is if you give them clear choices about what to do and the option to say no. Like, when Mishrak proposed that he could remove the Octoninja's self-destructive reproductive urge, we all knew instinctively that that would have been wrong of him to do, right?

I would say it depends on how heavily the government breathes down his neck. If he has to, he will scapegoat us (and he has enough reason to suspect us without a large leap in logic) to the government. Otherwise, the extent to which he will do anything about this depends on how large the ripples are. I doubt he cares, for good or ill, how much we swing our fists as long as they do not impact him. This is part of why I wanted to bring more than the strictly necessary crew - a prolonged battle with GF would mean huge attention, which means a larger pressure to explain the incident. If we don't make it into the papers, I think we're golden.

A large part of this comes down to what Green Flame decides to do with her freedom, but I think that's how it should be.

After the 'space gonne' and 'war with Aspitolm' arcs are over, I would like to have a long period with no more catastrophes and perhaps even a time skip. So yes, I agree with you. I just think it's going to take a long time to get there.

I was under the impression that she could only go a few miles before suffering 'unbearable pain', so I wished to spare her such and bring our chosen surgeon to her.
In which case, it might be a better idea to recruit Bellona for this mission. Because Mishrak's appearance in Tyrepheum would attract too much attention.

I have never seen even a single power ranger episode, but you have my support.
I only watched maybe two episodes when I was about five years old. And then some of the other kids at school solemnly told me they were too old for Power Rangers. Because I was an impressionable youth, I agreed with them and never watched it again.

I'll add that to the next update.

Could be a good idea. Something to talk about with Mishrak, for sure.

-is greenflame safe to stay in sambia and at the academy specifically?
greenflame is a powerhouse, we all know this, but she was captured once..
Green Flame was captured by an adventurer who found her unconscious and badly wounded after she'd fended off an attempted demonic invasion through the 'weak spot in the fabric of reality' that she and the rest of Green Squad (of which she was the last surviving member) had been assigned to guard. It's unlikely that he could have captured her if she'd been at her full strength.

-how will dorian's family feel about having to leave thier old life behind?
Dorian's family has a fair amount of power and influence, especially now his father has been fully healed and can return to working for the city government. His status as a somewhat important figure is likely to give him a measure of protection.

how will the goblin community feel if they need to be evacuated? will venta still be able to visit if they are safe to stay?
Considering that the goblins of Tyrepheum are used to being persecuted, I'm sure they're used to having friends and family members needing to escape in a hurry.

So about servitor races. The answer is obvious: dont make them servitors. Make em big make em hard make em tough. Make it so their tastebuds really like bread or pepper or something. Not addicted or obsessed, just if they eat it it tastes great. Make a shrine at a harbor. If enough people pray, tell your children and ask if one wants to go. If one says yes, the mortals feed him/her the snack, an offering in bread or a certain spice, and they get to work. Dont make them super happy to work, just make them feel slight satisfaction, if they want to do it. No point in making them feel bored or annoyed with it. If they procreate and teach each other, you wont have to create a lot of them. More a longterm thing but still, not bad.

like a hobby. or a fun snack.
addiction is still possible with a snack even if its more choclate/ crisps than heroin, but aslong as u r mindful of that possibility it should be fine

Closest I ever got was a happy meal toy of the yellow zord.

Fair. Okay, I am down for that.

More of a creature that knows a single spell than a generalized knower and practicer of Life magic? That's more palatable of an idea. There are many dabblers in life magic, but I think I'd feel safest if there were few masters.

Having a plan B) sounds good in life vs death or freedom vs slavery issues.

Still prefer a secret cult with much vetting.
But those creatures could be offered positions in it.

All right, so...

I've started writing the next chapter and I've hit an obstacle: I can't remember if Elys knows how the magical chains tying Green Flame to the Tyrepheum Academy actually work. I know I mentioned "unbearable pain", but I'm fairly sure that was part of an out of character explanation. Right?
(I wanted to have Elys discuss the magical chains with Samaya, which would be very difficult if she doesn't know how they work.)

As far as I can tell, this is what Elys knows:
1. Green Flame is unable to discuss certain things, but she was able to write them down in a book that she was reasonably certain no one would ever be able to find.
2. Green Flame nearly fainted when Elys was discussing with Cadre 1F how to solve the puzzle behind which she had hidden her forbidden diary.
3. Green Flame was unable to go through a portal to Mishrak's undersea palace when Dorian and his family did.
4. Before she was acquired by the former headmaster of the Tyrepheum Academy, Galadan the Mystic, Green Flame was passed from one master to the next, which suggests that there must be a way to transfer what/where/who the chain is bonded to from one place to another.

Let me know if you have any thoughts about this. Also, I take it you want to talk to Bellona as well?

Actually, considering how often Samaya has rescued elves from slavery, it would make sense for her to be able to break their bonds without help. But Bellona could still be useful if you want to make absolutely certain.

If these new guys want to join a the cult? Sure , they would be free to do whatever, but maybe ask them, from father to child, not to use their one spell on those who dont want it. Also i agree talking to bellona seems prudent.

I think you're right on that being OOC info - perhaps, then, Elys could nring up what she knows, and Raef or Samaya fill in the missing pieces before they start talking about it in earnest?

Yeah, we want to be absolutely certain. If this goes south it'll be harder next time.

The Price of Liberty (Part Two)
I guess I should have 'have a serious talk with Uncle Mishrak' (about starting a cult or creating new life forms in order to meet the demand for his services) to the list of vote options next time.

The Price of Liberty (Part Two)
"Excellent," says Red Ruin. Then, nodding at you, he continues, "I am at your disposal. When you need me, let me know."

As you are turning to leave, another thought occurs to him: "I had thought that the life of a princess must be dreadfully boring, but perhaps I was wrong. Is this sort of thing normal for you?"

"Yes, perfectly normal," you assure him. "Every day, a new adventure."

"How marvellous!" he cries, looking very impressed.
Again, you turn around, intent on leaving. Again, Red Ruin is struck by a sudden thought. Again, he calls you back, saying, "You should speak to Samaya. She's got more experience of freeing elves from slavery than anyone else."

"Really?" You vaguely remember hearing something about that, but you can't remember who told you or when.

"Yes, she rescued four pointy-eared beauties from the harem of the King of Sarn, I remember. And I'm sure she's rescued dozens more since then. No doubt she could give you some useful advice," he says. "Or she might agree to come along with you. Either way, that'll make things easier, won't it?"

You give a thoughtful nod. "Thank you. I'll bear that in mind."

"Hey, no problem," he replies, giving you a dazzling smile. "When you need me, just let me know. I'll be ready and waiting."

The next time you see Raef, during your next lesson with him, you have something to say: "I don't want to destroy Green Flame's life. If she wants to stay where she is, teaching at the Tyrepheum Academy and being mother duck to Dorian and his friends, that's fine by me. But I want it to be her choice. For thousands of years, she's had no choice at all: first, Keron stripped away her soul, turned her into an automaton and made her fight demons until eventually she was on the brink of death. Her broken body was discovered by a wizard who healed her and then enslaved her again. She was sold to a succession of masters who used and abused her as if she was nothing more than a toy. Finally, you got hold of her and tried to restore her soul – and I'm sure you would have freed her if you hadn't been defeated and imprisoned before you could – and since then she's been chained to the Academy, forced to do Prentigold's bidding. Even if he's been a fairly lax and indifferent master who hasn't forced her to do anything particularly degrading, he could have done. And the next headmaster might be much worse. So, possibly for the first time in her life, I want to give her the freedom to choose. What she does with that freedom is up to her."

Raef claps his hands together. "Bravo! Obviously, you've spent quite some time thinking about this. I approve and… yes, I agree with you."

"So, you'll help me?" you ask.

"Of course," he says, beaming at you.

"Before I do anything else, I want to talk to Samaya," you say. "I've heard she's rescued plenty of elves and could give me some good advice as to how to go about it."

"That sounds reasonable," says Raef. "I'll arrange a meeting for you."

In a small room, in the undersea palace, Samaya is waiting for you. She has taken the form of a nondescript middle-aged woman with lightly tanned skin and short grey hair. "I've been told you want to talk to me. Go ahead," she says without preamble.

"I want to free an elf named Green Flame, who is being kept as a slave at the Tyrepheum Academy," you begin.

Before you can continue, she grimaces, closes her eyes and says, "I know her. Of course I do. She was one of my brother's projects."

"Yes, he was trying to restore her soul and free her." You nod. "But he was unable to finish his work because–"

"I know," she says, through gritted teeth. "You don't have to remind me."

As far as you know, she doesn't even need to breathe, but she takes several deep breaths and makes a visible effort to steady herself.

"I… I had hoped never to go back to Tyrepheum," she says, trembling. "That's where everything went wrong."

"You don't have to come with us," you try to reassure her. "More than anything else, I wanted to discuss with you how to remove her slave brand."

"Simple enough. I've done it dozens of times. You just have to…" She frowns. A look of trepidation crosses her face. "Actually… I should come with you. I can show you how to do it, I can guide you through it, but if I'm not there and you make the slightest mistake…"

"You don't have to," you tell her. "I was thinking of asking my big sister, Bellona, to come with us instead."

"The Chosen of Teryn?" she murmurs. "Well, I'm sure she could do it, but… No, I should be there. I can't – I shouldn't – I won't live in fear forever."

"Well, if you're sure," you say, giving her a doubtful look.

As the Chosen of Teryn, Bellona has duties that take her far away from the undersea palace, but you manage to catch her one evening when she comes to visit your parents.

"Um. Good evening, Elys," she says, blinking owlishly at you, after you ask to speak to her alone. "I hadn't expected to see you here. I thought you were away at boarding school."

"Yeah, that's where I'm supposed to be, but they don't bother to keep track of my comings and goings these days," you say, waving a dismissive hand.

"How convenient for you."

"It makes things easier, certainly. I have plenty of time and opportunities to work on my projects outside of school. For instance, I'm currently working on a plan to free an elf named Green Flame from slavery. I've already enlisted Raef, Samaya and Red Ruin. And I thought you'd be a worthy addition to the team. How about it?"

"Raef and Samaya are the shapeshifting elves, is that right?" she asks, her eyes widening slightly. "And Red Ruin as well? Impressive allies you've assembled. In which case, I can't see why you'd need me as well."

"I want to make absolutely certain we'll succeed. I consider Green Flame to be a friend of mine and I don't want to fail her."

"She's an ensouled elf but still a slave? That is… unusual."

"One of her former masters was trying to restore her soul. It was a pet project of his," you say, but don't go into further detail. "Will you help me?"

"What will you need me to do?" she asks.

"She's a powerful mage, so… If she's forced to fight back against anyone trying to free her, it would be helpful if you could restrain her. And, if we have to move her somewhere else so we can remove the slave brand without being disturbed, I suspect her slave brand might cause her severe pain, so I'd like it if you – or someone else – could numb the pain or make her fall asleep in such a way that she wouldn't feel anything."

"I can do that. And… well, I have other responsibilities, but they shouldn't keep me occupied all of the time. When do you want to do this?"

"I'll let you know," you promise her. "When I've got everything ready, I'll tell mom and dad and they'll let you know. Is that all right?"

"Fine by me," says Bellona with a nod. "I'll look forward to it."

Several days later, when you've assembled your team, you travel to Tyrepheum's goblin town, which you plan to use as a base of operations. The goblins there are friendly and familiar with you already, likely to be sympathetic to elves and other oppressed peoples, and are unlikely to gossip with anyone outside their own close-knit community.

It is early evening, but the city streets are still full of all sorts of people; you have good reason to believe that your movements will go unnoticed. However, when you offer to scout ahead, you are surprised to find that the Academy of the Magical Arts appears to be the site of a celebration of some kind: the main gates are open, layers of mud and grime have been removed from the paving slabs outside, and you can see a few richly-dressed old men standing around smoking pipes and chatting with each other; bright lights are floating around like miniature suns, you can hear soft piano music, and one of the school buildings appears to have been repurposed as a banqueting hall.

Also, you recognise Simony Bulhac Balasteros, dressed up in fancy clothes and carrying a tray of drinks, apparently serving as a waiter.

"What's going on?" you ask, after sidling unobtrusively up to him.

"Fundraising evening," he says. "Want a drink? The first one's free. And the second and third and so on. Anything for our guests, you know?"

You squint suspiciously at him. "Are you getting paid for this?"

"School fees waived for the next few weeks. Seemed like a good idea to me. My brother thought the same thing – and his little friends as well – you'll find them around here somewhere. I mean, I take it you've come to see them."

"Surely they wouldn't have needed every pupil at the school to serve as waiting staff, so how did you and Cadre 1F get chosen?" you ask. "And what's happened to everyone else?"

"They only asked pupils with a proven record of good behaviour and academic excellence to stay tonight," says Simony, putting on a beatific smile. "All the others have been given the day off to spend with their families. Or the space gonne. Or whatever."

"So… Phil and his friends are serving as waiters. And I suppose all the teachers are here, hobnobbing with the nobility and trying to persuade them to donate," you surmise. "Does that include Green Flame? I doubt that 'the great and good' would take kindly to her mingling with them as if she were an equal, so has she been shoved into a cupboard somewhere?"

"She's here to look decorative. You know: mouth shut, tits out, little black dress, and so on."

"Tits out? She's as flat as a board!" you protest. You feel that it is rather demeaning for Green Flame to be treated as if she were a beautiful statue, but saying that out loud might attract too much attention and suspicion, so you restrict yourself to questioning his choice of words.

"Oh, I like you. I really do." He chuckles happily. "You're such fun."

"Um… thank you?"

He goes on to explain: "Green Flame is a shapeshifter, at least to a minor extent. Maybe she can't transform into birds or animals or pieces of furniture, but she can at least grow her hair long, expand her breasticles and hide those clunky gauntlets she insists on wearing."

"Those gauntlets are part of her body. Keron gave her a full suit of armour just like that."

"Shame she doesn't have much opportunity to wear it these days." He shrugs. "For the past few centuries, she's had masters who've dressed her up like a doll: forced her to wear pretty frocks and lacy underwear, or much less than that."

"And how do you feel about that?" you ask, shrewdly, wondering if you've found an unexpected ally.

He is silent for several moments, long enough that you presume the conversation is over and start edging away from him. However, before you can leave, he says, "Many times in my life, I've had no choice at all. I've been a victim. Does it surprise you that I empathize with other people in similar circumstances?"

"I don't know. Creation has no shortage of hypocrites. There are plenty of people who've been abused and exploited who go on to abuse and exploit other people in turn."

"True enough. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a job to do. Good luck with whatever it is you're doing tonight. I'll be seeing you."

He gives you a nod and then walks away, approaching some of the guests and offering his tray of drinks to them.

What should Elys do next? How do you plan to go about this?

Also, have you brought Jana and Catharne with you on this excursion? Is there anything else I should bear in mind before we carry on with this storyline?

I'd say:
Catharne stays back, relatively safely but ready to swoop in as dragonling.
Jana has Elys back.
Elys familiarizes herself with the camp so that she can quickly portal there, in case we manage to take GreenFlame aside for a minute and get her somewhere where people don't see her leave.

And a suggestion how to go about this.
Raef takes on a form like Galadan the Mystic. (but avoid people recognizing him as Galadan, would probably get too much
If they are questioned by anyone who wouldn't recognize the lie (i.e. anyone but prentigold) he claims to be Elys's patron (having his protégé show him around and tell him her opinion on school, teachers, her progress and so on), acting like "Of course I do, considering my contributions to the school I can expect to hear about the growth of my protege, can't I?".
Then when they found Green Flame Elys tries to get her away from the other party goers and somewhere where she can portal to the goblin camp, where Galadan the Mystic orders her to let [present seal experts] work on the spell binding her.

Raef claps his hands together. "Bravo! Obviously, you've spent quite some time thinking about this. I approve and… yes, I agree with you."

"So, you'll help me?" you ask.

"Of course," he says, beaming at you.
This is a heart-warming moment. I know I, personally, have spent a lot of time thinking about this.
"The Chosen of Teryn?" she murmurs. "Well, I'm sure she could do it, but… No, I should be there. I can't – I shouldn't – I won't live in fear forever."
Also good on Samaya, gotta face your fears sometime. Preferably before your nature as an immortal shapeshifter eventually sandblasts the corners off those memories.
layers of mud and grime have been removed from the paving slabs outside, and you can see a few richly-dressed old men standing around smoking pipes and chatting to each other
Something about this is funny to me. The students get Muck and Grime but heaven forbid the pipe-smoking distinguished gentlemen get their loafers a little messy.
He goes on to explain: "Green Flame is a shapeshifter, at least to a minor extent. Maybe she can't transform into birds or animals or pieces of furniture, but she can at least grow her hair long, expand her breasticles and hide those clunky gauntlets she insists on wearing."
God, speak of demeaning treatment. Prentigold loses a few points for this one. He was already deep in the negative, for, among other things, slavery and calling Jana a monkey, but that's another sin for the pile. At least it's less likely she has anyone's attention.
"Many times in my life, I've had no choice at all. I've been a victim. Does it surprise you that I empathize with other people in similar circumstances?"

"I don't know. Creation has no shortage of hypocrites. There are plenty of people who've been abused and exploited who go on to abuse and exploit other people in turn."
Based Simony moments. Elys has the equal point, though. Empathy for others has not always been high on Simony's list.
This seems like it might be a breaking point for that plan - Prentigold is most likely in attendance, and he knows who Elys's patron is, and likely knows something of the dissappearance of Galadan the Mystic.
I look forward to Green Flame being able to wear her armour again, if she wants to do so.
Same. I wouldn't be surprised if she armored up for a while after this.

As for my take on this, what we need is to get Green Flame alone, and out of the party, without drawing the attention of people who might recognize Elys. To that end, I think we might want to recruit Cadre 1F's help, if ever so slightly. There's two ways I can see this going - someone requests Green Flame's assistance with something outside of the party (and we ambush her with Galadan the Mystic), or we cause a distraction that requires a teacher to be sent to resolve it (and, most likely, they'll send Green Flame since she's lowest on the totem pole and it's booze-o-clock). I would say, at the moment, we do recon. We talk to Cadre 1F, we see what Green Flame is doing right now, we reconnoiter the locations of the major players, maybe ask Cadre 1F if there is anyone yet unknown to Elys we need to watch out for.

I think having Jana with us is a good idea, and I think Catharne would also be fun. If nothing else, she could male a distraction by eating all of a certain kind of party food, which she would heartily enjoy.

This seems like it might be a breaking point for that plan - Prentigold is most likely in attendance, and he knows who Elys's patron is, and likely knows something of the dissappearance of Galadan the Mystic.
Raef can turn into someone that only has the stature of Galadan and finish the transformation before talking to GF, while noone sees him.

But agreed on the recon first and the 'try to get cadre 1F onboard'.

Edit:
He was already deep in the negative, for, among other things, slavery and calling Jana a monkey, but that's another sin for the pile.
Wait, they already talked?
Crap. Forgot that.

Maybe have Samaya play the role of student.
Or drop the act and have Raef pretend to be a generic party goer.

Communication can work through telepathy.

Catharne stays back, relatively safely but ready to swoop in as dragonling.
How exactly will Catharne 'swoop in'?

Jana has Elys back.
Elys familiarizes herself with the camp so that she can quickly portal there, in case we manage to take GreenFlame aside for a minute and get her somewhere where people don't see her leave.
That seems reasonable. Fine.

Then when they found Green Flame Elys tries to get her away from the other party goers and somewhere where she can portal to the goblin camp, where Galadan the Mystic orders her to let [present seal experts] work on the spell binding her.
I think everyone has agreed to this, right?

Something about this is funny to me. The students get Muck and Grime but heaven forbid the pipe-smoking distinguished gentlemen get their loafers a little messy.
Just like real life, huh?

God, speak of demeaning treatment. Prentigold loses a few points for this one. He was already deep in the negative, for, among other things, slavery and calling Jana a monkey, but that's another sin for the pile. At least it's less likely she has anyone's attention.
He's not as evil as he could be, but he's not a nice person.

Based Simony moments. Elys has the equal point, though. Empathy for others has not always been high on Simony's list.
True. He's a complex character. (At least, I hope so.)

Seems like a decent plan.

All right, so... reconnaissance first?

Bear in mind that the more people you have with you at this point, the more chance there is that someone will notice you're gatecrashing the party.

Or... do you just want to brazen it out? This is a fundraiser, you're the Chosen of the god of wealth, so why wouldn't you be invited?

Communication can work through telepathy.
That would work.
