Chakra the RPG: Leaf-nin Edition Ver: 2.0

What is Shinobi!Yukimura Sanada like?
Yukimura is a Kenjutsu "god," every generation of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist can only dream of being half as good at Kenjutsu as he was. In fact, his moniker is a direct foil to Hahirama/Hiruzen's, he was the "God of Bushido."

Well, the fact that Hiruzen inherited Sasuke's Ninjutsu Aptitude also speaks highly of him. In fact, I'm having him be one of the Old World's last legends along with the rest of the Sanada Ten Braves, they'll be known as the "Ten Ninja Saints."
Okay that sounds baller.

I also am a sucker for groups that have numbers in their name.
"Ten Ninja Saints", "Seven Swordsmen", etc.

Why am I a sucker for that sort of naming scheme?

Hard to put a finger on it I guess. There's just something about "The X Y", where X is a number and Y is a descriptor.
It works best when it's a dozen or so or less. If it's larger numbers it works best if it's a few hundred.

The 300 Spartans.
The Seven Swordsmen.
The Konoha Eleven.
The Magnificent Seven/Seven Samurai.
The Three Musketeers.
The Dynamic Duo.
Sinister Six.
Fantastic Four.
Big Hero 6.

And so on. It just has a certain panache, for me.

It's a nice... I dunno the closest I can say it either formula or meter ala music. I feels good on the brain meats.

Hm... I think I've come up with a rather interesting DLC, I just need to find an appropriate trigger for it...

Does anyone else get the feeling that maybe we should have Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura each pick up a weapon just in case? And if so, what weapon do you think they should get? Personally, I could see Sasuke using a Katana and Wakizashi combo. Or maybe that Chokuto he used in canon. Some kind of sword really.

Naruto, I could see two short staves like those he used in Six Path Sage Mode, or maybe something like Asuma's chakra blades to take advantage of his Wind Affinity and to help out his Taijutsu? Or maybe a bow if want to go full long range fighting with him.

And Sakura, I'll be honest, the idea of her dual wielding those giant axes is hilarious to me. Or maybe one really, really big ax, you know, the kind that are the length of the wielder and has a head that's the size of the wielder's torso.

Something like this

Or if we wanted, we could make it a hammer, or some other massively heavy implement of destruction that makes her victims wonder how the hell such a small girl can even lift that thing.

And now that I think about it, I could see all three of them wielding some time of sword. Naruto using a Katana or Jian, Sakura dual wielding Katana, Sasuke again, using a Katana/Wakizashi combo, that could be cool too.

I mean, you've already chosen Sasuke's weapon and if you do the Wave Mission, you could get one of them to inherit Kubikiribōchō.

Wha, oh right. The bukijutsu. Sorry, I'm a moron who fails at reading comprehension and memory. Ignore me, everyone!

Yeah Honestly I'm not sure anyone but Sakura has the control needed for a more sizable hand-held weapon at this stage.

Well Kakashi obviously, but among the students Sakura is the one most likely to be able to use a weapon efficiently thanks to her chakra control being the best of the three so she'd be the one most likely to be able to use a few basic jutsu while holding a big-ass hammer or axe, which is actually not a bad idea for her build.

Sasuke would eventually be able to use a big weapon well as evidenced by canon, but at this stage his hands are pretty busy as is and he doesn't have the muscle to make a larger blade worthwhile, Naruto doesn't have any of his sealess techniques yet, and even when he gets them they're not all weapon friendly.

Honestly, the weapon thing comes from the fact that when I play games like this, I like to have all of the bases covered before I start specializing. I just want our three cute genin to be able to handle themselves should something fall through and they end up unable to use their specialty.

Nah, discussions like this are good.

Here's a small tibit for you; unlike canon, Kakashi hasn't abandoned his early Kenjutsu Specialization.

Technically no, since Sasuke only knows Gokakyu and Naruto only knows Kage Bunshin and the Oiroke so far.

Sasuke needs hands for the gokakyu, and his wires, and his kunai, and his shuriken, unlike Naruto He's actually good enough at those he might kill something with the basic ninja tools. Additionally it's not just special jutsu being considered here, although please note naruto needs at least one hand sign for both of his current special jutsu, but the academy three (or two in naruto's case).

Transformation I could see some people getting away with having to work around weaponry, but if you're using replacement then 9 times out of 10 I'd wager most people don't have time to worry about much else.

That and clones are kind of important to be able to use fast.

Well that's why they're level 1, anything they try needs their undivided attention while Kakashi, the level 79 monster he is, can perform Shunshin while Swordfighting Zabuza and other insanely complex tricks.

So basically, wait about ten or twenty levels and then work on diversifying their skill set?

I support laying foundations for self sufficiency, but on some level the Academy has already done that, and none of the class choices are too over specialized tbf.

That and they're cute genin at the moment.

And giving Sakura an axe as big as she is, or bigger, would make them adorable gennin.

The other two just can't pull it off.

It's like how not every super hero can actually pull off a cape.

Sasuke can grow into it, but Naruto ... Well let's see if we can dig up a giant brush at some point.

Naruto would use clones to lift the weapon. Two or three adorable clones trying to coordinate to wield a giant and heavy weapon.
