The beta performs as well as Ghosts right now.

Like I realize it's a beta with two months of polish left to go, but with them saying so much about how they're actually going focus on PC compared to previous titles, and why they bothered announcing the requirements so early, I was kinda expecting performance better than quite possibly the worst PC version of a title in the franchise. :V

(Also so many goddamn "connection interrupted")

EDIT: That said the game is fun when there's a respite from the legion of microstutters. Even with the specialist abilities going around, I haven't had issue adapting my gunplay to them.

Ghosts and AW pretty much turned me off Cod and after playing the beta for a bit I really don't see Blops 3 being its saving grace for me at least. It still has that problem from AW where everything is chaotic. I can't tell where any of the enemy is so I'm always just stumbling into gunfights. Can't count on my fingers how many times enemies started spawning behind me. Still, it's a Treyarch game, so you can't expect the spawns to be any good until a few months after launch.

My connection sucks too despite being connected to a dedicated server apparently. I like to think my internet is decent but I never had anything below 60 ping, which in this game is pretty noticeable. Thanks at least, Blops 3, for proving that my connections in this game always do suck.

Those are my two major complaints. Maybe I just suck regarding point 1, but I'm sure I'd enjoy the game more if my connection was any better. I try to like it but I just can't.

Also: For people with metal arms they don't throw very far.

Sadly the only working capable PC in my house is my little brother's and he ain't sharing.

The PC beta is fucked by stuttering, can't stand it.
Yeah honestly I have no idea why this isn't fixed yet: not having great graphical optimization is one thing but there's "you have to use lower settings to get good FPS" lack of optimization and then there is "I literally cannot test for balance or hit detection because I keep getting multi-second stutters during firefights" lack of optimization.

In other news, Xbox One/PC betas are now open to everyone.

I'm even getting stuttering on the Xbone version. Not too often, probably not as bad as on PC, but when it happens it's like holy crap.

I was pretty damn good at Cowadoody with something like a 7:1 kill/death on MW/Blops and 10:1 on MW2, but that was on consoles. Considering how fucking bad my mouse aim skills are and that I haven't played multiplayer FPS on PC in years, I'm about to assblasted. Here we go! :V

I think I found the solution; turn off the shader cache if you have a Nvidia card in the Nvidia Control Panel if you select BO3 in the Manage 3D settings section. It is far better, maybe not eliminated entirely but defintely almost gone.

Holy shit when did CoD get so silly and why wasn't it this honest about itself to begin with?

The Beta is damn near unplayable on the Xbone, massive stuttering and damn near constant connection interrupted means I'm playing a fucking slideshow rather then a damn game. Best game so far only had 3 connection interrupted bits in the match.

Sadly I have an AMD card. :V

That said I experimented with the whole resolution scale thing and I got a pretty good scale that doesn't make the game look insanely pixelated but is enough to prevent almost all of the stutters (apparently it's a result of the game not quite knowing how to play nice with VRAM usage yet?)

The following match was the results of it:

Still not quite inclined to get it on launch, but I could see myself getting it in late December if they do fix the optimization by then.

Well this thread looks dead. What better thing to do than post a new story trailer!

Cyberbrain virus? Seems like it.

Also notice the frames of the ''Singapore Incident'' (Coalescence Disaster?), briefly referenced on the enhanceyourselfforabettertomorrow teaser site for those who read it, in the video:

Why is the new Call of Duty looking more like Ghost in the Shell than the ACTUAL Ghost in the Shell game?

Probably because Ghost in the Shell primarily exists in other mediums and so a tie-in video game doesn't necessarily have to precisely the same things. Other Ghost in the Shell games have been pretty story heavy, but the newest one isn't. It's no big.

Black Ops 2 had some interesting ideas in it and a lot of people found its story effective, but for me I found it uneven in tone and message. Regardless, I give Treyarch points for trying. For a series that isn't really built around storytelling, Treyarch has seemed very determined to use the franchise in that way.

I was watching an LP of BLOPs II last night and I think a lot of the problem comes from the way the mechanics have gotten.

Since MW2, CoD's campaigns seem to have spiralled increasingly out of control in how they set up their set pieces. To the point of BLOPs II shoot their way through an entire base full of apparently elite Cuban forces with better technology than them. They do this with 4 guys.

CoD's campaigns were always best when they were about really big scale combat. You've always been better than the AI, but when you're fighting as part of a team of other guys it seems at least like you're in the middle of a proper battle. In contrast, up until the end, MW's special forces sections are carefully scripted. You're either stealthing around or you're running away.

CoD's really lost something, not in its lack of big battles, which it still has, but in the way it sets them up.

Story Overview & Cybercore: Chaos:

There's also more info IIRC coming out today.

New specialist (Firebreak; flamethrower or AOE stun) & new map:

So, let me get this straight.
  • The campaign is 15 hours long.
    • I play a cyborg right out of Ghost in the Shell
    • There is a base between mission I can visit to upgrade myself, my weapons, or read about the lore on an in-game wiki
    • The levels are more opened up instead of just corridors
    • I can choose my gender
    • I can play VR scenarios in my brain
    • WW2 flashbacks
    • Co-op play
    • A nightmare mode which adds zombies to the campaign
    • Another difficulty harder than Veteran
  • There is a zombie mode set in the 1940's.
    • I can play as a magician who is Jeff Goldblum
    • A singer who killed and slept her way to the top voiced by Heather Graham
    • A boxer who can beat up zombies with brass knuckles played by Ron Pearlman
    • It's a 5 hour Left 4 Dead style campaign
  • The original zombie maps return as well
  • Dead Ops Arcade 2
  • A speed running/parkour challenge
  • Multiplayer with...
    • FOV slider
    • Dedicated servers
    • Dress up my soldier
    • Dress up my guns
    • Wide variety of classes with unique character designs
Jesus fucking Christ, this is really a Call of Duty game. I'm honestly considering going with this instead of Fallout 4 at this point.

Welp, now I know what I am going to order after I get the cash and the PC for...

And /v/ just informed me that it's possible to mod yourself into what is basically a fucking killbot, as seen below. Is there truth for this? I didn't really have much interest in Blops 3 until I stumbled onto some information.

He is one of the multiplayer specialists. His powers are either holodecoys or a arm mounted gatling gun.

EDIT:

Hahahaha this live action trailer is amazing.
