Mechanicum Factions
Okay, I will have to revise the faction lists.
Like an idiot I just put them there without doing proper research.

How embarrassing.

The proper list:

Explorator - lat. "scout"
= Explorer

Genetor - gr. "creator" in a biological sense "begetter", "father", ancestor. From the same root comes genos (lat. genus), which means family or species.
= Geneticist

Alchemys - chaemeia is the ancient greek work for egypt (black earth) and also means (black) magic. combined with the arabic article al-, it is the name of a mystical tradition in medieval latin, which (metaphorically) tried to transform lead (the soul) into gold (divinity) by using the philosopher's stone (wisdom).
= Chemist

Metallurgicus - metallon is greek for mine/quarry. -ourgos (from ergon, "work") means "someone who creates something from [stone]"
= Material Scientist

Logis - gr. logizomai means "to count, calculate"
= Mathematician/Logistician

Dominus - lat "Lord, Master" (btw gr. kybernetes is the helmsman of a ship and as a verb means "steering")
= (Robotics) Operator

Myrmidex - the greek Myrmidons were the tribe that Achilles was king of. It is derived from myrmaex "ant" because of their strength.
= Battle Magos (btw magos is the greek word for the persian sorcerer-priests)

Provender - lat. proventus is "harvest", a provendor would be a person who makes things grow.
= Agricultural Scientist

Hespherstari - Hephaistos is the greek god of fire and craftmanship, while hesthaen (from hennymi) means "to clothe, dress"
= Armorsmith

Vulpaxis - lat. vulpes is a fox (carnivorous/scavenger animal), lat. pax means peace and gr. olpes is is flask of oil used to conserve things
= Mortician

Lictanex - lat. licitatio is an "auction", combined with lictor (a servant of roman official who dealt with crowd-control) my guess would be
= Commerce/Communicational Scientist

Cordantor - lat. cor (gr. kardia) is the heart (seat of the intellect), cordatus means sensible, wise; could also be applied to the data-core of a machine-spirit
= Philosopher

Malagra - lat. malus/gr. malos is evil, ago means "to drive away"
= Judicator

Lachrimallus - lat. lacrima is the tear of drop of sweat, malleus is the hammer.
= Slave-driver

The Legio Cybernetica - Sacred orders of Tech-priests devolved into cohorts charged with the construction and use of Battle-automata, existing both as fully independent structures and sub-factions owing either pacts of mutual support or alliance with the Synods of major Forge Worlds.

The Munitoria Logis - Provender of Munitions and Wargear, Servitor and Drone Cohorts.

The Basilikon Astra - The division of the Machine God's servants tasked with the construction, use and operation of void craft and interstellar vessels. This order's divisions by their nature control the outer reaches of a Forge World's systems and so stand apart from the planetary synods, but are still tied to them by dependence and ancient tradition.

The Skitarius (Tech-Guard) - Ancient standing armies of elite cybernetically and genetically engineered troops, originating on Mars and principally loyal to the office of the Fabricator-General. The Skitarii, also known as the Mechanicum Protectors, are not members of the priesthood, but follow their own unique martial traditions and sub-cult of the Machine God.

The Legio Titanicus - The division of the Titan Legions, the Princeps and Moderatii of the Legio Titanicus are charged with the baleful right and onerous duty of mastering and maintaining the God-Machines that are the avatars of the Machine God's destructive wrath.

The Ordo Reductor - Mendicant order of Tech-priests devoted to the art of siege craft, demolition and mass destruction. The Ordo Reductor is essentially nomadic, gravitating to areas of intense warfare, but maintains links to major Forge Worlds for resupply and support.

The Macro Machina - The Institution of Military Vehicles and Transports.

The Lacyraemara - The Servitors, the Cannon Meat and those charged with them.

The Autokrator - The Main Army and Artillery.

The Bonded Cybernetica - Specialized Operations directly connected with the Machines.

Edit: Added the Magos Militant faction info.

As long as it isn't 66, 77, 88 and 99 Research Actions will succeed... Until we start rolling more than one die via Research or modifications or something.

023.30M | Alliance: Legio Cybernetica
The Crimson Colossus, a vast forge-temple in the depths of Mars, was silent save for the low hum of machine spirits that coursed through its walls. Tall, robed figures stood in perfect alignment, their voices silent, their thoughts concealed beneath layers of data encryption. This was no ordinary assembly of the Mechanicum. Here, in this sacred space where the molten heart of Mars forged the future of humanity, two factions met to discuss a union that could shape the fate of the Machine God's followers.

Magos Iomene-35, representative of the Empyric Engiseers, stood at the forefront of her delegation. Her augmentations were subtle, reflecting the Empyric Engiseers' preference for a balance between flesh and metal. A tangle of psychoreactive cables ran down her spine, connecting her to a data-stream that fed her constant readings on the Empyrean. Beside her, Enginseer Gheron, a veteran of the Magos Militant, stood ready with his battle-servitors and mechanical thralls, their hulking forms casting shadows in the chamber.

Across from them, the towering figures of the Legio Cybernetica stood like living statues. Leading them was Archmagos Thanek, a being who had long since shed the constraints of the human form. His body was a testament to the perfect union of flesh and machine, his torso a bulwark of plasteel and bronze, while his head, elongated and crowned with a shimmering array of antennae, moved slowly, scanning the room.

"Magos Iomene-35," Archmagos Thanek's voice was like grinding gears, precise and calculated. "Your faction has garnered much interest with your wards—protections that could safeguard not only Mars but the soul of the Machine God itself. Yet your work touches upon dangerous energies."

"We do not deny the danger," Iomene-35 replied, her voice calm, though her eyes flickered with a deep inner fire. "But we do not fear it. The Empyrean holds the key to a deeper understanding of the Machine Spirits. We have mastered the Wards to keep its influence at bay—and to harness its power. Your automata, Archmagos, could be the ideal vessels for this communion."

Archmagos Thanek's mechanical fingers twitched, tiny servo-motors clicking into place as he considered her words. "Your suggestion is… intriguing. The Legio Cybernetica has long sought to give our creations not only cognition but a true soul. If your Wards could protect the mind of the automata while they tread the fringes of the Warp, there may be potential."

Iomene-35 nodded. "In exchange, we ask for access to your Sacristies, your archives of automata construction. The Empyric Engineers will provide experimental Wards to enhance your most advanced Cybernetica designs, and in return, we ask for your support in defending the quarantined zones. We will need your battle-automata to secure the Vaults we are constructing."

Thanek's eyes glowed a faint blue, data calculations flickering through his mind. "A trade of knowledge and force. We accept your terms, but we will also demand shared access to all data on the interaction between the Machine Spirits and your Wards. If we are to create an automata with a soul, the Legio must oversee the results."

"Agreed," Iomene-35 said, her voice hardening. "But understand, Archmagos, the Empyric Engiseers will not allow the secrets of the Warp to be mishandled. This is dangerous work, and it must be approached with precision."

There was a moment of silence between the two factions, the air thick with machine whispers and data exchanges. Then, as one, both leaders raised their hands, their metal digits clicking together in a ritualistic handshake, sealing the alliance.

"For Mars, and for the Omnissiah," Iomene-35 said.

"For Mars, and for the Omnissiah," Thanek echoed.

Which Joint Project was agreed on?

[ ] Shared Research: Warp-Spirit Interaction
Trade:
The Empyric Engiseers will share their Ward technology and research into the Empyrean's interaction with Machine Spirits.
Allowance: In exchange, the Legio Cybernetica will provide the Empyric Engiseers access to advanced automata designs, including battle-automata prototypes that have shown signs of "pseudo-sentience."
Effects: Unlock further Research into the Warp effect on the Machine Spirit. Automata gain (Primitive) effect against Empyric foes.

[ ] Data Exchange: The Search for the Automata's Soul
Trade:
The Legio Cybernetica will share their vast data and ongoing research on machine consciousness, including their experiments and results on artificial intelligence, machine sentience, and pseudo-soul manifestations in automata.
Allowance: The Empyric Engiseers will provide theoretical frameworks and ritual practices for interaction with the Warp and Machine Spirits, including how to detect, stabilize, or amplify a machine's spiritual essence.
Effects: Unlock further Research into the Machine Spirit Soul. Automata gain (Crude) defence against daemonic possession.

[ ] Security Pacts: Protection of Sacred Knowledge
Trade:
The Empyric Engiseers will provide Ward technology to protect the Legio Cybernetica's most sensitive data vaults and sacristies from psychic intrusion and Warp corruption.
Allowance: The Legio Cybernetica, in return, will dedicate a portion of their battle-automata cohorts for the defense of the Empyric Engiseers' key installations, particularly during periods of high Warp activity or quarantine breaches.
Effects: Legio Cybernetica Archives gain (Crude) defense against Empyric assaults. Chaos Numbers Consequences are mitigated by (Primitive) amount.

It's dangerous knowledge but it could lead to breakthroughs in research.

Defensive measures being taken first makes sense.

Having Automata be able to have an effect against Empyric foes would probably help.

Automata able to punch out demons is nice but we are unlikely to face any for a few turns yet at least.

This might be useful for when the Automata fight in the labyrinths. I wonder if this would provide some protection against scrap code.

This is the most obviously useful option right now, and it can have significant knock on effects down the line.

If I have to pick one at this time I guess I will take the safe(ish) option.

[X] Security Pacts: Protection of Sacred Knowledge

There is no doubt. :V

...with this in mind, I really want to mix and match Alliances whilst doing Research but the key thing is I want us to prep the Wards as much as we can before delving into Mars. Urgh, conundrum.

Might want to at least start buddying regardless but it is rather contentious on Research... OTL

...not to mention potential options that open up as well.

Ah, well, something to worry about in the future when it does come. :V
