Delaying our organization's founding by a turn is absolutely not worth it. Having to choose between having a social life and saving the world is causing way too many problems. We can talk to Mom with a personal action next turn, and negotiate with the Sharks with a national, for instance.

Hey, that's fair. I'll confess that even I'm not sure about the action economy loss for not forming a faction immediately. I'm just also not sure what we're even going to do with our faction right now. Plans for the future are good and all but right now our assets are our heroes, some kids in a treehouse, and 8 funds.

Your standard CK Quest protagonist gets a Personal Actions tab where they can do things like spend time with subordinates/relatives/etc., goof off by playing baseball, occasionally training skills, or give a national action a serious buff. Stuff like Porky's tab, except we get multiple picks. We don't get that right now, because it's just us, Buzz-Buzz, and Porky's lazy behind. I'm pretty sure we've done at least three national Actions that could have been personals. Not having it is an enormous pain in the rear, and the people wanting to delay forming a faction are letting the perfect be the enemy of good enough.

Couple big problems with this plan.
First of all, not raiding the Shack. Last turn, it had a DC 50 minimum. This turn, it's DC 55 and next turn it's going to be DC 60, which would put us at risk of failure. Worse, it means we don't get to interrupt their actions. We saw that when we struck at the police, they had to take their next turn off to lick their wounds. Allowing the alien presence in Onett to spread means they're going to brainwash a whole lot of people, making our lives harder and the cops easier.
Second, not pursuing the Beak Point house aggressively. We can't keep running things out of the treehouse. It's uncomfortably close to the alien's turf, and it's going to be absolutely lousy with cops for at least the next turn. We'd need a bigger base eventually, might as well get it out of the way now and make our lives easier.
Thirdly, going for PSI healing now is not a great plan. We have a nasty debuff, we are flush with cash, and we're beginning to draw unwanted attention.

Also, random thought. Considering we got the bonus for talking with our siblings about our dream, which was playing baseball...what would happen if we used our bonus from it on playing baseball?

Honestly, I mostly wrote that plan out of frustration, but

A) I don't much like being a Hypocrite,

And

B) if it's getting that many votes already, I think the parent issue matters a lot more to people than I had been considering.

For what it's worth, whilst getting that org is vital (no matter what happens, I will not stand for putting it off any longer than the one turn, extra potential optimisation be damned), CR's relationship with her mother is a major emotional weakness that has come up several times. Trying to deal with it is important, especially in a game in which family and mothers are so important it's the literal title of the franchise. So if we do try dealing with it, we'll, a turn where we have advantage to ensure it goes well is something I'm not going to sniff at.

Now by my maths, the odds of rolling lower than what we need for that 80 on the martial are about 45%. Which is a little bit against us, but pretty good for a disadvantaged roll.

As for mother… honestly, given CD's issues, I do feel more confident in this. Advantage roll, assuming the dc is around 65 (tough but not extreme) nets is odds of about 2/3 to hit it, so if we are doing this, this is the turn to try.

As for Beak point… let's just beat up Franky and take over the arcade. Beak point option is about selling the information for cash, not getting it ourselves (which we probably don't want anyway, It's massively overpriced for a building with 3 walls. We can do better).

Good to see other people also worrying about mom, just hope that Buzz Buzz will be enough to help us with the bugs and not kill us or extend that malus.

Speaking of, if any plan involving calling CD's mom goes through, what do you guys think regarding idea of putting Buzz-Buzz on diplomacy? I know that this is probably a terrible idea, but I just liked the narrative idea of him being there when organization forms and talking to kids who decide to join us (or not to), hell, maybe he'll be there to do the talking (or maybe even most of it), or maybe he'll just be there to witness it and will abstain from showing himself. Still, interesting narratively or not, if we do decide to entertain this idea, we need to do it very carefully, because outcomes of this choice are unpredictable.

There are no un fun results here. Although there's definitely suboptimal ones. And we might be headed towards a suboptimal one right now!

If we put Buzz Buzz on diplomacy there is a non zero chance the kids freak out and kill him, or we lose their favor once they figure out we made friends with a psychic alien bug.
 
There is one thing I like about the "Actually socialising" plan which won't convince anyone else to vote for it: CD's spending the bonus she got from her siblings' enthusiasm on contacting her mother, evoking the idea that while Cass herself really doesn't want to do this, she's able to do so with Kart's and Floppy's support.

And I just find that image really really cute.
