Thoughts? Suggestions? Criticisms?
Our Trickster leader is on the other flank. And they're currently stuck in a grind of morale. Switching our center's forces to go on the offensive would come at a penalty, as would doing anything other than breaking the Mongol Lancers with our cavalry.

Also, fun fact: If we count light cavalry, we've technically got more cavalry than the Battle of Vienna.
Hey if Ashford survives this battle he will most definitely gained the Inspirational Leader modifier.
Yes, the moment when you got a bunch of Russian Peasants to start screaming Latin words they probably can barely even pronounce is very much worth that trait.

That penalty wouldn't do much harm considering the fact we have 100 morale in the centre to their 30 with a commander with very few bonuses outside of a siege. So it's more than worth it and can win the battle, especially as our Hussars haven't caused much damage overall to enemy Morale. And they have the numbers to tank the damage we've done to them on the flank.

On the point of having the worlds largest cavalry charge. Yes. This battle is awe inspiring from a historical viewpoint. The first deployment of mass canon batteries. Hundreds of thousands of troops on each side. Tens of thousands of horse on just one flank. The 'unbeatable' Mongols being caught out and defeated by a smaller force. Overall, this battle will go down in history.

If we don't fuck it all up by doing something stupid that is. But with Vasily's competence, and the dice loving you, you'll probably be fine.

And to join in on the Historical Standpoint thing: Vasily and his company have just gained an entire chapter in the annals of military history with this battle alone. Especially if its a total victory, and the Mongols are broken.

Edit: And god knows what kind of stuff will be written about this war once it is over and Vasily and Co win.

Vasily and co (Most likely Ionnos if he continues fucking them up with his cannons and other artillery pieces) will be studied for the next few centuries at least until modern warfare begins. At least.

That morale roll, Jesus. Zima's duel nearly gave me a heart attack though.

The Trickster general perk grants a bonus to changing tactics for other commanders.
Trickster: You like to be unpredictable in battle, to confuse your enemy in whatever ways you can to gain an upper hand. (Changing tactics in the middle of the battle will now automatically succeed. Morale can never go higher than Excellent. Other allied commanders will get a +40 to changing tactic rolls. Enemies gain a -40 to counter tactic rolls if they do not have this modifier.)
So we actually can switch things up without too much trouble, especially if none of the enemy commanders are tricksters (which, considering two of them are dead, is very possible).

[X]Yes
The dice were in our favor this round, but if they wind up turning on us again, then we're going to be in a lot of trouble. At this rate, the center'll probably be fine (although there might be an issue if the Mongol charge actually connects), and it'll take more than a turn of events to make our cavalry flank lose its advantage, but the left's advantage is hanging by a thread. If they wind up fleeing from the battle, then the other flanks'll be screwed, since they're both focused on their own battles right now.

In hindsight we shouldn't have been so confident in our mass cavalry charge on the Right, we hoped it'd smash them to pieces and let us roll them up. But they put elite Horse Lancers there. Which hasn't helped them mitigate the casualties caused by heavy European Cavalry charges. But they have numbers to tank it and way higher morale than we expected.

On the Left Flank is a similar story, we didn't expect them to confront us with Cavalry, we expected to be able to use the Left's flexibility to adapt to whatever holding force they sent against us and overwhelm them to hit the thrust we were certain would hit the centre.

We actually overestimated the Mongols competence. Which is weird. But this battle we just got lucky. And that luck may not hold out forever. Which is why we should take initiative and break their cracking centre, roll up the right and free up the Light Cavalry and Hussars to drive the Horse Archers on the Left from the field.

It's not weird, you choose the tactics, formation and troop composition that totally outmaneuvered this army on a strategic and tactical level, and played to the strengths of what we had and made them pay so far. The opening looks promising, so exploit that promise and secure victory.

Now in the next battle, you might not get so lucky and you might be dealing with the Khan of Khans himself, who will definitely be playing for keeps or making the same mistakes.

Now in the next battle
*kills 200,000 Mongols, almost double what Ghenghis could put into the field in many of his campaigns*
Well, fuck, they have another million soldiers don't they? Did they conquer China when we weren't looking?

At least we might be able to grab whatever remains of the Cossacks after this, and can take placements in the mountain passes to block them off more easily.

But the Rus and Eastern Europe won't be safe, they can still move south through Ukraine.

No, but Chinese mercenaries and Chinese imperial troops could be involved.:V
We ain't dealing with Genghis now are we?;)

Well I'm stupid.

here's the issue though:
so exploit that promise and secure victory.
The key is EXPLOIT. Not 'throw more men at the problem'. We need to think about following up our gains, not trying to fix our problems. Fight like Prussians, not like Frenchmen.

We have only 15,500 Light infantry (Experienced) and 10,000 Heavy infantry (Experienced) in the center against 200,000 Mongols. If they do not break, and we've seen that outside cannons they're really not up for Morale shocks, we'll just be throwing away our center and leaving our cannons exposed. To say nothing of the fact that if we close into melee, the cannons cannot support us without friendly fire.

We must break through on the right, and sweep to the center and side.

Well, lets just apprecuate how low the mongols rolled. Also that duel seemed like they were stuck in mud wavin pointy sticks at each other.

We must break through on the right, and sweep to the center and side
Their Right is not going to break. We slaughtered ten thousand of them in a single charge and barely made a dent in their morale. These are elite Mongol Lancers and Knights. These people will fight to the bitter end and our Right Flank can kill them faster and easier due to its immediate breakthrough, but that's not going to help much if they still refuse to break before the Left starts to crumble under the pressure its facing.

Please note, the 200,000 numbers include the entire army pre casualties. We know they've deployed their melee and shock cav on our right, infantry and Horse Archers on our left and we don't know what's in their centre aside from the fact it's got way lower morale than anywhere else. I'm willing to bet it's the lighter infantry and Skirmishers. We should push them, even if we get outnumbered, if we steal the charge European Heavy infantry is superior to its eastern equivalent and thus the shock of superior heavy infantry charging could break their morale finally.

Either that or risk friendly fire with the canons to try and break them quickly. Either way. The Right isn't going to be free anytime soon. We cannot rely on it.

I'd be willing to go for another bombardment before we make the charge. I just don't think our skirmishers alone will be enough support.

On the other hand, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Our cavalry and cannons are our biggest strengths right now, but if that left flank winds up breaking, we'll be leaving our flanks open to the same exact tactic that you propose using against the Mongols. Plus, we can't afford to suffer heavy casualties right now, since we're going to have to fight more armies in the future (and one of those will likely be commanded by the Khan of Khans himself). At the very least, we've got to make sure that the left flank is able to stand their ground long enough for one of our other flanks to clear things up with their counterparts, so that they can reinforce the left.

I'm terrified of the Cavalry rolls. Zima has triplets again, well she does if the 118 roll is any indicator. Our triplets were gotten from a 119 afterall.
