And like I said, there's the issue of how they manage to get it to work on a global scale through the curvature of the Earth and through all sorts of buildings, mountains, etc. Sorry to be arguing down the Combine's abilities, the concept just really stretches my suspension of disbelief and has ABSURDLY powerful uses

There's more than one Citadel yanno?

And they herded people towards the various Cities by the Citadels.

Probably people far enough away from a Citadel were unaffected, until enough Citadels to cover were set down. Kleiner was seemingly just addressing everyone nearby City 17 in his speech about it.

EDIT: Oh, after checking, City 17's Citadel getting exploded caused a destabilizing chain reaction in all the Citadels so that could have got them all down.

That one I don't know. Beyond saying "satellites" it'd be a level of technological equipment to perform the desired operation as it does in the games, that we just don't "officially" have IRL ( I say "officially" because, again, lots of classified documents, and a ban on research in most first and second world countries. It's unknown if we have the ability or not, but publicly available equipment certainly can't. )

I honestly didn't consider that, thank you. Apologies to be a naysayer, the tech just seemed too incredible to me to be believable (and I just generally dislike the 'aesthetic' of supertech like that).

Well... there's also whatever the hell is going on with G-Man in Half-Life

Casually stopping time on a whim, planting subliminal messages in unconscious beings to relay later (Alyx), self teleportation..just naming a few.

All with the appearance of your average corporate executive..

While I did state that bulking up right now is best, I also do want us to be able to progress on our capacity for offense. We already have Scanners presumably patrolling around our Citadel Zero and while they are admittedly lackluster in the case of an actual attack, the fact we're still unknown to the populace means we can rest easy.

The biggest concern would be some shmuck stumbling into our area and the Scanners are perfect for picking that up. Overwatch can take care of it.

I would eventually like to get our land vehicles running but I recognize we'd need to cut down on all the foliage around us which might bring unwanted attention at this stage.

[X] Army of Monsters

We're gonna need more ground units soon if conflict ever does happen between us and the hutts.

I gotta say, the abstain thing feels really nice, being able to ignore stuff we don't need in favor of what helps speed us along to where we can divert attention. It being half strength encourages us to not do it when we've got viable options in those categories to pursue too though.

Yep. Though hopefully the first ones seeking us out will just be goons on skimmers floating above the swampland.

I got a simple plan for our army prep:

Though more seriously while crabs are gonna be needed for smacking down any true resistance, we are going to need more transhumanoid troops for smaller spaces, gathering items and whatnot. And transportation for them, I'm aiming either repulsorlift vehicles or more aerial ones rather than dealing with making a road out. Combined Arms is the way to go with an army.

if i remember my lore right, head crabs are normally spawned via gonarchs. So it depends on if we have any gonarchs within our citadel (which i believe we do)

[ ] Canister Launcher (0/125)
A simple magnetic acceleration system to launch cargo pods across large distances. Typically used to deliver either Viscerators or Parasitics to a hostile location, sometimes in support of Transhuman Overwatch Activities. Includes a simple cloning device.
Halves Unit Cap upkeep of Viscerators, may launch Headcrab Canisters once per turn.

This is an option we have, so we don't need to have full gonarchs, we have cloning devices which may be modified gonarchs. I didn't take it because while tossing zombie making parasites around is helpful for messing with enemies, we can't really claim territory with it and it wouldn't be super helpful in gaining what we want to gain.

Also it can probably be tracked with a bit of work. And definitely would indicate that someone is attacking what with it being rockets and all.

EDIT: OHhhh you thought I meant headcrabs by crabs.

No, I meant the Crab Synths.

Crab Synth

The Crab Synth is an incomplete Half-Life 2 enemy only glimpsed towards the end of the game in the Citadel on a conveyor belt along with the Mortar Synth, during Gordon Freeman's second pod ride. It is unknown where it is transported to, as it is never encountered in combat anywhere during the...

Hmm, yea fair point. Last thing we need is for us to turn the planet into Ravenholm.

Edited with the realization you thought I was talking about headcrabs, when I meant the crab synths, the 'tanks' of the Combine that never made it as a proper enemy in Half-Life 2 besides being seen on a conveyor belt along with mortar synths.

We have that as an option with the synth production facilities my plan is focusing on. I want a lot of tanks basically.

Do you think we might have synthetic gargantua's? I can imagine that there's no way the combine would let fresh corpses like that go to waste.

Example of a synthetic gargantua (The artwork is from a fanmade half life comic believe it or not.)

That would have been in the Xenian Biosamples back on the opening decisions. Though there are some other things by that artist I may or may not include depending on how things go.
