Korea never mastered airbending under the white losus and their for was not "ready" for all we know that since he death the white losus might have gotten at least a bit more paranoid since then and perhaps more controlling. Then again, that is just speculation on my part.
That's not how it happened. After Korra completed her firebending training, the White Lotus actually called Tenzin in to teach her the last element. The training just had to be postponed due to Tenzin's political duties in Republic City. Korra decided to run away there in order to find him and start her training.
While The White Lotus are definitely somewhat controlling after the Red Lotus affair, Korra was also being a teenager. Our case is fairly different than Korra. We are much wiser than her, and are better able to present our case to the White Lotus.
Also at the end of the day we are the Avatar. No matter how controlling they are, they can't gainsay us if we present a solid argument and put our foot down.
Yes, but seeing that the only stats that we can't improve leveling our bending, I would say that upgrade them is convenient. Especially with this new adventure starting the next update.
On the other hand we are going to the Fire Nation, meaning that there will be many new options in which spend the CP (in the Fire Nation there are things like Dragons or Sky Bison), so maybe it's best to save the CP for later.

Sand whipped past your cheek, not even a graze, before you rolled underneath the wave of sand you knew would come. It was the most important fight. The last fight to be had for how many years, and you could not afford to lose. Which was why you had to take it seriously. Your hands moved like water, and with them did the sand around you move. With more ferocity than grace did the element lash out at the enemy, your own whips striking true and trapping your target.
Bound and immobile, your opponent looked at you still with those ever calculating eyes. Always thinking. Always planning. "That's 2 to nothing, little brother." The smug in your smile could have fed the entirety of the tribe until the next Avatar arrived. Tié's mouth moved but instead of the surrender you wholly accepted, it came out as "Wake up, Siph!" Your smile faltered, brows joined, and a question on your lips when your little brother spoke up again.
"I said, wake up Siph!" There was thwack and you flinched back to face your tribe politics teacher. It didn't take long to connect the mark on your hand and the ruler your dad had. It sure hadn't taken him long to connect it either. "I know it's hard but you have to do this." You understood the words and what they meant, but it had been the same song and dance since your brother left. Things just...they weren't right. And your dad looked like he had enough of it too. Which was super weird because he was, like, the most patient guy you knew! You were sure that he could even out-patient a rock if he wanted to!
"I know, alright?! And I'm trying!" And it seems like you've had enough of it too. "I'm doing my best to learn all of this but I just can't!" A loud bang echoed in the room and you had to withdraw your hand as you tried stifling the small "Ow.". You were a big girl, you reminded yourself. And big girl's don't cry. Specially not in front of their dads! "It should be Tié doing this. This was, is! His thing!" Your lungs heaved as you screamed it to the world, but closer to your dad's face.
Hands curled into fists and you closed your eyes as hard as you can, forcing the tears to stop falling. They were staining both your dress and your pride! You braced yourself for the punishment you knew was coming. One you knew you deserved. So when all you felt was your dad patting your head and whispering words of comfort, all of the bravado you had just came away as tears. Stupid girly tears that you tried sniffing back so they could stop.
Not that any of it helped, because the next thing you knew was you sitting at the roof top with dad doing his best to do, well, do the sitting thing. Neither of you really said anything. Just looking at the horizon and wasting time. It was a lot like what you and your little brother used to do. It was nice, and it made you feel bit a better. Still, the whole thing had you curling your knees. A deep breath. There was something you had to get off your chest and dad looked like he was okay to actually listen this time. You steeled your nerves and opened your mouth.
"I wanted him to stay."
Only for your dad to take the words out of your mouth. "Avatar or not, he's still my son. I wanted to bring him gecko fishing at least once. Maybe even some scorpion turtle gathering." He laughed and it was so weird because you didn't even think that your dad knew how to laugh. "Though I'm sure your brother would have hated bringing the scorpion turtles away from their homes." You eventually got over your shock and your dad never looked as old as he did now.
You didn't want to look.
"Yeah." A breath. "I'm sure. Would've probably gotten mad at you too for even thinking about it." There was a chuckle somewhere there, you were sure. "I can see it already. Tié dragging his feet on the sand. Coming with all the dumbest ideas to try and not go. That's my little brother, alright." The smile on your face hardened into something a bit more genuine. "He'd probably laugh at me if he could see me now. Crying and complaining."
"Yeah, he probably would." Said your dad, and you couldn't help but roll your eyes. "Gee, thanks Dad. Where would I be if it wasn't for your support. Na na na, don't even start." Dad, thankfully, did not. And in turn, silence came back. Yet very much unlike the last one, this one made you feel at home. Secure, even. It was enough to remind you of your younger brother. Of how he'd just go quiet all of a sudden, but still made the world know just exactly what it was he was thinking.
"I miss him. Like, a whole lot." You didn't need to hear it to know your dad did too. "And I should probably stop whining. He beat me you know? Had a sand bending duel and all. Though I let him use his Avatar powers. It wouldn't have been a fight if he didn't. And I can't let my younger brother get a draw with his bigger, better, awesomer sister, right?" At that, your brittle smile turned brighter and you practically flew out of your seat as you stood up.
"You hear that, Tié! You better get better at bending so you can put up a fight next time! I won't go easy on you next time!" Each word was louder than the last, and you could feel your chest hurt from shouting to the Spirit World all the promises. Most of which included winning the next duel, and how he better eat his vegetables if he wanted to stop being a squirt. As your rant finally finished, your cheeks all red from the screaming, you threw yourself back to the roof to look at the sky.
Quiet and patient as ever, your dad merely ruffled your hair again.
"Thanks dad. I'm better now."
Your dad grinned, a joke ready, and somewhere in the far off distance, Tié felt both himself and the entire line of the Avatar cringe.
I accept you as my superior in writing, which isn't all that surprising because I'm not doing this very long and English isn't my native language, but I will say I am impressed nonetheless. If you ever want to be my backup writer/co-quest master, the spot is open.

Once you reach the edge of the desert, you, Huzzah, Roku, and the White Lotus... er, what would be the plural for them? White Loti? White Lotuses? Let's stick with Loti.
Again, you, Huzzah, Roku, and the White Loti travel for a day until you reach the southwestern Kolau Mountains edging near the desert, it takes only a little while until it reveals itself to your eyes. Grass, stone, trees. The sight isn't as impressive as you'd thought, seeing that you've already viewed similar wonders in the underground jungle, but it is still eye-catchingly unusual.
Several more hours of travel, climbing gradually higher and higher grounds. You reach the edge of your first mountain, and taking a look at the map, Master Jirou decides that trying to go around it is pointless. Instead, you climb its pathways and occasionally carve a way with earthbending.

The journey is smooth and calm. The cold mountain winds stab into your face, making you shiver both from the cold and the surprise of something so strange as cold. You can't get used to it. The razing rays of the deadly and judgmental sun is everything your life has been up to this point. Perhaps that is why firebending was how you discovered you are the Avatar, when you were just six.
To think that you can regularly bend other elements now. Soon, they would come to you like breathing.
By late afternoon, you arrive...

Among the rocky cliffs and mountaintops, Omashu stands out like a beautiful gem. At the same time, it is just like the mountains; made up of four 'hills districts' of buildings, yet at the same time looking gorgeous and grand in a way that can't compare with the mountains.
You, Huesar, Roku, and the White Loti enter the city. Instantly, you are taken aback by the architecture. It's different from tribal buildings in so many ways! And the market is booming with all kinds of products you haven't even heard of. Water is common here, apparently, which is good. Roku sniffs out plenty of food but keeps close to you. People cast nervous glances at him but seem to calm down when he stops to scratch his gonads, understanding that he is just some exotic domestic animal.
You look around, stunned, but following the group. Master Jirou stops and turns to the rest of you. "A recess is in order," he declares. "I will go arrange the flight and some housing. Every one of you is free to go eat or rest. Meeting tomorrow outside the airport."
With that, he turns away and begins walking off, but you ran past the rest of the White Loti and tug on his robe. "Can I have some change?"
He cocks an eyebrow, glancing sideways at you. He considers. "You didn't bring your own money?"
"I don't have much," you answer. You reach into your pocket and flash him with a silver coin and twelve copper coins. Your literal life savings. "Not for this economy, anyway."
He nods and reaches under his robe, pulling out a moderate-size, brown sack. He loosens the cord and reaches in with two fingers, digging out five golden coins. He looks you in the face and notices your golden smile, then sighs and pulls out another five. He hands the ten coins to you. "Go crazy."
"Yay!"
The first five coins, you spend to buy a falcon.

Unfortunately, she's not too friendly. It'll take some time to get her to like you, let alone send messages with her help. You should give her a name.
[] Write-in.
After that, you...
5GP, 2SP, 2CP to spend.
[] Buy a cool necklace. You'll give or send it to Siph on the nearest occasion. (-5GP.)
[] Buy candy that looks like crystals. Looks neat. (-3CP.)
[] Buy a guide on taming falcons. (-2SP.)
[] Look for something specific... (Write-in.)
Your shopping spree is over, you get to the hotel you're staying in. You would never expect it to be a cover White Lotus base. Then again, the old king of Omashu, Bumi, was a member of the White Lotus or something along those lines.
You sit down on your futon in the lotus position and close your eyes. Breathe in, breathe out, focus.

Fear.
What if Siph will hate you for leaving her? What if she will resent you? Worse, what if you can't come to visit? Fears seemingly flood your mind as a reaction to your chi trying to breach the clogged filter at the base of your spine. Why is this happening?
You open your eyes, ventilating. Your chest jumps up and down and you release one, strong huff of air. You feel your hands shake once, while you blink and come to grasp with the horrible visions. It won't happen. It surely won't. What are the odds? Besides, even if you're not allowed to visit, you can run away, like Siph said. It may be ridiculous, but it's worth a try if they force you to it. You're not a dog on a leash, you can do whatever you want!
"Right, Roku?" You glance at the animal, who has already fallen asleep beside you.
That sucks.
Sighing, you reach for the Proverb Book. You flip to a random page, then read a random passage, for some reason hoping to find wisdom by chance. You read it aloud. "Every cloud has a price."
...
Eh?!
What kind of Proverb is that? You read further in, your eyes piquing with sudden interest. "He who lives by the sword shall die in the bush." Okay, weird, but let's continue.
"A merry heart makes a long life." That one's a bit better, you suppose.
"Boys will be mountains." You consider. There must be a hidden meaning. Is it meant to say that men are usually stubborn? Maybe it's a native Earth Kingdom saying you're not aware of? Who can tell.

"Another day, another yuan –– Seize the day –– Don't trust anyone over thirty." You stop, reading the next one slowly, as it crushes your heart. "East is east, west is west, home's the best." You feel a demon grip your stomach and tear it out from the inside. You sigh, put the book down, and lie down, then turn over to your side, in Roku's direction.
"What have I done to deserve this?" You almost cry yourself to sleep, but manage to drift away eventually by clinging to Roku.

Wow, the Random Number God has abandoned you, my dear players. May he have mercy upon thine tortured souls. It's a shame, the Proverb book thing has awesome rewards. As a consolidation prize, I'll try to get the next update done as soon as I can tomorrow.
You made it rather sound like we had no clue we were the Avatar when we bent the Water. Shocked by how we could do it an all, and only later coming grips with the fact that we were The Avatar. Certainly didn't sound like we already knew for a year.

Your personality traits literally include foreknowledge of being the Avatar. Tie was shocked because he hadn't bent a different element for a year ever since the "fire incident" at age six. He then had to make peace with the fact that his fear came true, and the firebending wasn't just a hallucination, bad dream, or an earnest anomaly and that he was, indeed, the guy who's supposed to keep the balance.
Mostly because we still have the chance to actually abandon being the Avatar. Thank you bad Earth Chakra rolls. RNG has not yet abandoned us, merely showing a different path we could take.
Also because the What If Omake I made now bears meaning. Yes.
And I don´t really understand @Birdsie why we are using our intelligence bonus for the proverb book, it seems much more logical to use wisdom (since proverbs are an Iroh thing and we are on our way of becoming Iroh 2.0)

We really should get that Rock Candy, because it's probably Jennamite, and if it is promises all sorts of fun possibilities that come with violating entropy.
Dai Lee stone gloves are producable by a skilled earth bender. If we get our hands on a pair, then we can hopefully learn to use/create them. It'd also be thematically appropriate since we're a sandbender without much exposure to solid rock, and those are some sick looking gloves.
Kyoshi was an earthbender, and I was gonna save that name for the more earth-related animal. Also, Yang is short for Yangchen, who so happened to be the Airbending Avatar before Kuruk. At least, that's what the wiki told me.
