Guys i am telling you that we should focus on buffing our stats with cp instead getting some shinies. Look at how close those failures were. The DCs were really low. We could have easily passed those if we had better modifiers, which increase by 1 every 2 points in a stat. At our char level we should have had big enough modifiers to ACE these tests.
I rather disagree. We will be getting a ton of stat ups as we master the elements, and our stats already exceed that of your average adult. I personally think we should try saving up for that 50 CP purchase, becoming one with the cosmic energy

That is true for most our stats, but we can't upgrade neither charisma nor intelligence that way, so investing in them is quite necessary...

You could've gotten so much better shit for this #TeamBisonKiller Omake.

You have long since become used to the hospitality of the desert. From its arid winds to the scabrous sand. In turn, you and the rest of your men have prepared accordingly. And no longer have you had the need to remind your followers what their job entailed. For so long as they followed the orthodox method, then everyone and their families would be fed enough for the week. Your daughter, however, made 'orthodox' just that much more frustrating to accomplish. Oh truly, you were proud of her. Even more so from how she had begun to establish herself in her studies. Focus and maturity, hand in hand, tempered. But you remind yourself that she's still a child. Barely into her teens, and already thinking she knew everything there had to be taught about Bison hunting.

Again, you had to remind her that they had to be quiet. Patient. Boring, even, if that meant understanding the necessity of such qualities in this operation. Said qualities also just so happened to be her weak points. Boisterous. Rash. Excitable. Good in small doses but your daughter had never been that into what people called moderation. Eyes narrowed as you felt the desert winds push against the fabrics of your clothing.

You were confident that your subordinates knew what that meant.

Any more adjustments and the window of opportunity would be shut. You made the call. Hand raised and, like the executioner's, sentenced the Bison its consequences. A hail of darts flew from your hunters. Some already readying for the next barrage as the darts went wide. From the needed six, only a third made it through. The prey groaned, pained and numbed, from the unexpected punishment. Tougher than most however, the bison shrugged off the poison and made to escape.

You called for another hail, even as the winds intensified. The subordinates followed, bar one.

"Siph! Stand down!" It took a moment to realize that it had been your voice that cut through the noise. Yet as stubborn as her mother, Siph continued to slide forward. The sand beneath her feet rippled, pushing her faster and faster towards the target. You had enough time to click your teeth once, as you then ordered your men to give chase. A father's job was to keep his children safe. And you would have gone after her yourself had you been a decade younger.

All of your focus shifted towards getting your daughter back to safety. You had already lost one. You refused to lose the other. You saw your men catch up to her, your next in command already barking orders in the increasing din of the desert winds. Benders already morphing the sand around them into the closest interpretation of a bunker. Feet padded against the earth and you were reunited with your daughter. You spared her the lecture she deserved. Instead choosing to redirect your men to protecting everyone in the team. You pulled your daughter to your chest, even as the men around you practically made themselves into walls to protect the others from the worst.

The wind struck yet you only held unto your daughter tighter. Even as rocks and sand tore through fabric and skin, you refused to budge an inch. A cruel sense of humor for nomadic people. When the winds finally subsided, and everyone breathed easier, you called for a check. Wounds and injuries were aplenty albeit in shallow degrees. First-aid administered to everyone who needed it and you pushed the image of Siph merely standing by the side. Only when everyone had finally been accounted for did you round everyone up to ready themselves for the trip back home.

A trip that went by too quiet.

Siph had tried to strike up conversation. Had tried to apologize for her mistakes. That she wouldn't do something like it again. And deep inside you, you wanted to answer. To tell her that you understand, and that everything was just bad luck coming down on them. But you knew yourself better than that. Clouded thoughts and a tumultuous heart was never a good combination to have were he to respond. So instead of risking any irreversible words, you chose to stay silent. Long enough that Siph got the idea and chose to travel alongside the other, more amicable, hunters in the party.

Guru Pathik may have taught you many things. Killing your emotions however? No, that was all you.

Presumably the one under mine. The difference between the Brother Plans is the amount of money we need for Siph's rock stuff personalized gift thing.

I adjusted it from 3 to 2 because taking 3 would have left us unable to buy the rock candy.

They're technically all the same too though, so yeah. Depends if everyone just wants to hand wave it and just take the difference.

Why did they just withstand the sand-storm, rather than making an earthern bunker? Hardened Sand could protect them far more than their skin.

Also, I'm somewhat doubting exactly how long it'll be before we can come back to visit, in that we'll be gone till she enters her "early teens". We are a fast learner, so it seems like they'd allow us to visit fairly often. And if they don't, we would probably choose to run away.

Straightforward enough. These make sense and are fun. Plus, the QM kinda needs votes to write.

But yeah, probably should revote on overall medium-term and long-term goals. The bending-learning, travel locations, perceived Avatar responsibilities, and Republic City police goals don't really mesh by this point.

I admit that it would be nice to have the chance fo Tie to have an in-story reason as to why he should re-evaluate his mid/long term goals. But there hasn't been that eureka moment yet for the kid, imo.

That, and Tié did Promise his Big Sis that he was still going to aim on becoming that Police Officer.

Let's see.

The market is bustling. After purchasing a guide to the wonderful world of falcon taming, materials the manual claims you will require, some neat food and toys for your favorite shirshu, a bunch of colorful crystal candy, and a bunch of cool-looking rocks of various colors and sizes that you plan to sculpt later and send to Siph, you begin to pack up.

As you're putting the things in a bag on Roku's side, a familiar figure approaches you. "Hello, Tié."

Tozah. The man whose life you saved. You answer politely, "Hello, Tozah. How is your business turning out?"

"I am just about done. Tomorrow, I will travel to Ba Sing Se to deliver important news to Her Majesty," he answers without fanfare or tone. In his statement, you sense a partial omission of truth, but you assume he has no ill-intent, as he is indeed a government worker and you'd be worried if he did spill secrets to an eight-year-old boy. "And what are you doing in Omashu?"

Last night's events return to your thoughts like a painful woodpecker, constantly assaulting your mind. You're a bit snippy in your answer. "Sight-seeing."

"Then you picked an unwise time for departure," he answers with a nod of what you presume to be regard. "The terrorist group known as the Blue Lotus has threatened to attack Omashu this week."

Your heart sinks. Fear wells up inside you. "B-Blue Lotus?"

"Yes, they are a dangerous group of like-minded psychopaths, you should avoid them at all costs."

A skeptical look takes your eyes. You squint at his face. "Liar, liar, pants on fire."

He chuckles. "A joke is forever lost to great wisdom."

"Great wisdom? I'm not that wise."

"Not yet," he corrects you. "But you will be."

You think about that. He's not wrong. You're smart for a kid, but more than that, you're much more self-aware than any other child on the planet, you think. Tozah then says something that throws you slightly off-guard, "By the way, tell me what you want."

Eh? "Excuse me?" you ask, but not with a rude tone.

"As in, what would you like to have? You saved my life in the desert. I want to return the favor in one way or another." That explained his intent a little better. At the offer of a favor, the first thing that you can come up with is some political help to the people of the desert, but you soon consider other things.

Tozah's favor? (Note: Impossible requests do not appear on this list, but the effectiveness of the ones you see is debatable.)

[] Help your tribe by sending them supplies, like water and food, especially during arid seasons.
[] Give your tribe some political presence in the Earth Kingdom. Let Tozah and Makiw be their voice, representing the good of all Sandbenders.
[] Get you Bending scrolls from all nations. "I'm into learning that kind of stuff."
[] Help me become a police officer in Republic City one day. Maybe that dream is not yet to be abandoned.

Jennamite. Rock candy. Blue, green, sometimes even red.

The important thing is, it contains sugar. And sugary goodness is something that once tasted by an eight-year-old child, cannot be resisted anymore for much longer. The concept of candy itself has never been known to you until you put that sweet rock in your mouth and chewed on it.

You've saved five pieces, of course. You heard they are bendable, so they might be useful in the future. In addition, you've sent other, five pieces to Siph, along with a statue of your dad bent out of stone, and a letter to your family and friends that you spent nearly an hour writing down. Writing a letter only three days after last meeting her seems obsolete, but you already miss your old life. You can't help it. The letter is...

[] Excited. You tell about the things you've seen so far with fanfare; all the sights, smells, sounds, and to try rock candy.
[] Informative. You write concisely about what's going on, hoping that a strict format will alleviate your parents' worries.
[] (Spiritual Prodigy.) Enlightening. You compare the many sights to old stories and wisely ascertain the people of the city, describing the local life.

In the early afternoon, Huzzah comes into your room and tells you to pack up, as you're about to go to the airship. You do so, then rejoin with the White Loti. Master Jirou leads the way to the airport, where a huge, red air-balloon is already waiting for you with its door open and boardwalk slid out.

The flight is uneventful. Huzzah, somehow, makes a sandwich again despite the fact that, you're pretty sure, he was broke the entire time and therefore had no right to have bought any bread or food of his own (unless he stole it from the kitchen,) and eats it, then falls asleep. Master Jirou meditates in one of the central rooms, while a pair of White Lotus members keep an eye on you. Eventually, night falls and you, too, fall asleep.

In so many ways, this place is almost identical to the Si Wong Desert.

The people here fear and respect the sun and its awesome power. In addition, they have pragmatical tendencies. And lastly, even despite years of living in the same, enclosed space, they seem to be somewhat fractured. Fire Lord Zuko is on the verge of abdicating the throne, giving it to his daughter Izumi. At least that's what his plan is for the next year.

The reason the Fire Nation's citizens are split is due to widespread disagreement over politics. Some Fire Supremacists, as people call them, remnants of the old ideology of the Fire Nation from the Hundred-Year-War are still about, spreading their insane drivel at people on the streets, even in the capital. Despite that, free speech means no one can remove them.

Fire Supremacists push the ideal of a strong, perfect Fire Nation with a powerful and imposing ruler, who would return the Fire Nation colonies (read: United Republic of Nations,) back into their control. Of course, the Fire Lord and his family are bemused by this, and you can see why: it's precisely that kind of thinking that led to there no longer being that many people who can shoot air from the palms of their hands.

Not to mention the Earth Kingdom, that would just as rapaciously take the Republic apart, since said Fire Nation colonies were, long ago, in the past, Earth Kingdom territories.

On the other side of the conflict, are the more peaceful Harmony Activists. In contrast to the seemingly totalitarian, controlling Fire Supremacists, the Harmony Activists push an agenda of peace, love, spiritual balance, butterflies, and all-encompassing kindness. They believe the Fire Nation should spend more tax budget on fixing its past mistakes, like paying for reparations to the Air Temples that should serve as "landmarks" and "historical museums." You can just vaguely sense the scent of Air Nomads trying to get their homes to working condition through political manipulation in this, but you can't confirm that suspicion.

Besides, it's not like nomads like to get involved in politics. I mean, you're an enlightened child, but all of these politics are already giving you a headache.

On the first day you arrive, you get to meet your Firebending teacher. Boy, is she nice.

Shiko is a woman of the highest caliber. From the size of her assets, to her nifty and groomed black hair, to her unblemished skin, lovely brown eyes; and her long, feminine fingernails. That's the least of it, because then comes her incredible ability to kick the collective asses of three firebenders attacking at once, and you're pretty sure they gave it their best. And all of that was, as she described it: "a literal and figurative warm-up." Did I mention her wardrobe consists less of robes and more of body armor?

A woman of few words. A woman who pulls her punches. A woman whose bosom is larger than your head.

Honestly, you'd have fallen in love at first sight with her, if not for two facts:

One, she's almost twenty-five years older than you. And married.

Two, girls are yucky.

After making acquaintances with her, she cuts to the chase and describes what your workout routine will consist of. She believes that a strong body and mind constitute strong bending, so from tomorrow onward, you will perform one hundred push-ups, one hundred sit-ups, run ten kilometers, eat a dragonfruit, and stay near a lit flame when resting every, single day.

After that, she bids you goodbye for today, and you remain only for half a minute, to watch her step up the ante and invite eight firebenders to fight her instead of three.

You watch the display of violence with a mixture of revulsion and yet, interest and curiosity but Master Jirou shields your eyes and takes you away like a responsible adult would.

A White Lotus takes you to your room. You're going to be staying in the capital. In the distance, the Royal Palace is visible. As you look through the window, you notice the fires that are emblazoned upon it, providing for a display of beautiful lights. Kind of pretty, even though a little over sixty years ago this was the headquarters of a murderous sociopath whose thirst for innocent blood could only be fulfilled by the subjugation of the unclean, non-fiery races.

Damn it.

This atmosphere is already making your thoughts return in the direction of politics.

To distract yourself, you meditate.

It's not that bad after all.

After reading the book's first fifty pages you get fed up with it. It's not that it's bad. It's just that reading pure intellectual power at peak efficiency gets stale with time. You decide to...

[] Take Roku for a spin around town. You wonder if any soldiers will show up to stop you. Wonder if you can race 'em?

I'll admit this update came out less eventful than I suspected. At first, I debated a more drawn and detailed introduction for Shiko, but I ultimately decided it'd be better to do that in the next update, or, hell, even leave it to a omake writers if they're into that kind of task.

Next update, you can expect the beginning of a new cycle of ass-kicking, slowed-down development due to some minor retconning to the training system I have decided to implement, as well as the surprise I promised you.
