Spectacularly bad luck. NCA rolled like, a 98 while New Pueblo rolled a 2. I think New Pueblo rolled a 3 on the "how are things going internally?" roll as well.Poor NPRA, and after seemingly making a great comeback too. Just how did the air force turn the tide so hard? This is gonna suck.
Thing is, we exist in an age where conventional diplomacy just...isn't really something that exists. Like, half of the nations that exist right now exist because someone made a deal and then went back on their word once they'd secured their own powerbase. Agreements only matter so long as the ability exists to enforce them.Regarding the Alliances: I'm skeptical of allying with New Washington- It's not guaranteed we'll actually get the option to ignore their territorial claims, and if we backstab them we'll become a diplomatic pariah.
Regarding the drugs: I'm confused why "Extensive Export" doesn't have much the same risk of the drugs washing back up on our markets and peasants as Differential Controls would?
Thanks for the explanation. But about not being able to project power on the Anatolian coast: I dunno, I expect we'll be quite able to enforce our will on the Anatolian coast once we get our ironclads up and running. We'll rely on naval logistics a lot in general I expect, with how much heavy equipment we're due to roll out and our lack of good roads.Spectacularly bad luck. Also, no one likes New Washington. The various 2nd Wave States see New Washington as everything they left to get away from (what precisely that was differs, but everyone sees something in New Washington that reminds them why they decided to leave the 1st Wave Nations.)
There's also the fact that the parts of Anatolia that New Washington is claiming (it's not literally all extending to the Hittite Empire, they're talking about the CKE, Troy, Lukka, Broken Coast, and NPRA/FRA/NC if the first two fall), all of which well, we honestly can't really project force into even in the best of cases.
In fact, I get the feeling that New Washington's demand for "recognition" is more of an internal consumption/prestige thing than anything else. They can look on a map to and realize they're next in line to get invaded if New Monthan keeps pushing forward.
Our ironclads are coastal monitors rather than anything rated for sea travel, even on the Mediterranean (doesn't help that we're a bunch of amateurs at "how to make ship work.") Longest non-coastal travel they're trusted with is escorting transports on a hop from our new naval base to Apulia. Thanks for the explanation. If we can support a naval base in Apulia in the Apeninne Peninsula, we can sure as hell ascort convoys to the western coast of Anatolia. Our ironclads are coastal monitors rather than anything rated for sea travel, even on the Mediterranean (doesn't help that we're a bunch of amateurs at "how to make ship work.") TBH, 80 Political Support is kind of dangerously high. It's when characters start feeling so secure they might get IDEAS about what they could do to their political opposition.
And our character has a trait about being willing to purge if she sees it as necessary (necessary according to her own biases.)
Future work will spend some of that, but also get more of that. We're looking at probably finishing up the main Ironworks and possibly shocking out the next stage of Prometheus next turn. That's an additional 5-10 PS. 75 PS from Extensive Exports + Agree to Both is plenty.
