Anderson Quest: Killing Vampires and Werewolves and Leprechauns (Hellsing/Bloodborne)

...Is there any way we can protect the kids themselves, instead of just a place?
Because then we just stack that on the children and Iosefka.

If this wasn't Abridged Anderson, this quest would be depressing.

Instead it's just heart-wrenching. :(
Even normal Anderson is a good person
Usually I'd say that Anderson and the Iscariot Organization represent some of the worst aspects of the Romanists, but...
in this situation, Anderson is being a model Christian. o_O
Protecting the weak, caring for orphans, spreading the Word... he's doing good in Yharnem.

Vote?

Uhm... I'll wait for a bandwagon, I cannot plan anything right now (sleeeep time) and there are no bandwagons yet.
When he is not killing Vampires. Canon Anderson is running a orphanage remember. Hell he does not like his kids hitting each other

If she's willing to, or we can persuade her, Eileen could patrol the area around the church.

Because, please correct me if I'm wrong, the only threat that can get through the fuckton of incense are other hunters or people like Lumnia. Which Eileen should be able to intercept and ambush before they become an actual threat.

Another possible solution is to create a 'panic room' inside the church. A room with a single entrance protected with stronger wards, and keyed to permit only the kids, Iosefka, and Eileen, or maybe those they've given crosses... If that's within Anderson's abilities.

Maybe if we're lucky, we can find a sane Henryk who can mind the chapel for the night while we and Eileen go out and do our business. Or maybe we could persuade Djura to look after them in exchange for swearing not to romp our way through Old Yharnam.

There's a sort of small library between the basement and the chapel's main floor, with two ways in: A ladder running up from the waterlogged storeroom beneath the church, and a staircase leading into the main floor.

But there seems to be a device that can seal off that ladder (a big wooden covering) that we can place weight on, and we can reseal the Oedon Tomb gate behind us when we're through besides. We should also probably drop some wards around the doorway into the storeroom, just to be safe.

That'll just leave the stairway, which we can ward like mad. The library's walls seem like wood, but behind them should be stone, if the storeroom's and chapel's architecture are any indication, which should stop any beast from just tunneling its way in.

It wont be infallible, but between the incense, the wards, the foundation, Oedon's nebulous presence, and a possible escape route in the form of the ladder, its probably the safest place anyone in this city can hope to be.

Are there any decent Carpenter/Mechanic NPCs that Anderson could recruit convert to the one true faith, who could fortify the Chapel's mundane defenses while the good Father is out doing the Lord's work?

NPCs that we meet in game who we can send to the chapel(other than the girls): Arianna(prostitute, provides blood), Adella(yandere nun who kills Arianna if you continue to talk to her, also provides blood), Old Woman(occupation unknown, provides sedatives), Paranoid Guy(provides nothing, goes to the opposite safe haven if you tell him to go to the Chapel he goes to the clinic), Secret Beast Guy(will kill a random NPC, provides Pungent Blood Cocktails and Beast Blood Pellets), and Agatha(friendly guy, provides nothing).

Djura's about as close to a mechanic as we're likely to find, and it seems like he built the ladders and platform that leads up to his nest is his work, so me might know a touch of carpentry. He's also a pretty tough hunter in his own right, and he might have a friend he can drag along. Problem is that he's basically decided to stop hunting beasts, as he still thinks of them as people.

Though if we tell him that the folks at the Cathedral are all the elderly, woman, decrepit, or a mixture of the above, he might be willing to temporarily set up shop in the Chapel.

And now that I think about it, the church's workshops are only an elevator ride away from the Chapel. If we want weapons, that'll be the place to get them. Hell, even a few of the mobs there have gatling guns we can probably drag back. Should give the choir something to think about if they raise a stink, provided we can find a few hands to use them.

If I understand correctly, the clouds of incense/possible Odeon mystical influence keeps the Chapel safe from Beasts, it's Hunters and Church goons like Alfred that we have to be concerned about, so that particular problem isn't unsolvable.

Now, getting "I must protect the wee beasties" Djura and "No mercy, God will know his own!" Anderson on the same page, that's going to be a bit tricky.

Nah, sufficiently powerful beasts can straight up ignore incense and any odeon mystical influence, like the Dark Beast begger dude in the Forbidden Forest. He pretty much murders everyone in Oeden Chapel if you bring him there.

Even if Eileen's hunt doesn't take her with us for most of the rest of the quest, her hunt would certainly not be confined to the area around the chapel. I think the Chikage Hunter she will want to fight later is found in Cathedral Ward, or even the upper ward.

That's a damn fine idea.

At most, it forces him to loiter outside the chapel, apparently never going inside except to grab someone and take them out to eat.

A panic room wouldn't counter this kind of threat, because the killer would grab someone while everyone else isn't paying attention, or snatch someone when they wander outside. The victim won't be able to reach the safety of the panic room.

Given that this is a quest with a more organic approach to the cast, we can't be sure that the beggar is the only were-Darkbeast, or that others won't wander into Central Yharnam and discover the people in the chapel.

Note: The panic room is still an excellent idea, but it isn't perfect. It only works against obvious attacks that the people inside see coming soon enough to start running.

Secret Beast Guy(will kill a random NPC
Actually, I'm told he DOES have an order.

First he kills the suspicious man (which makes sense), then either the old lady or the nun (don't remember which), then the blind chapel dweller, and Arianna goes last.

The hilarious thing about Dark Beast begger is that sending him to the clinic results in Lumia turning him into a Celestial Mob. How did she capture him and turn him into that? He can turn into a lightning werewolf with a wind attack, did she use tranq darts?

The way I imagine it...

Darkbeast!Beggar: *in human form, planning to pounce them* Hey, open up, I need a place safe from all these monsters!
*door opens, and mass of tentacles grabs him, dragging him in screaming before the door slams shut*

Yeah, I think we should... Apart from the shifty beggar guy surrounded by corpses. We should give that guy bayonet through the eye.
Honestly, why isn't that EVERY player's reaction?

Dude's clearly eating people when you find him and doesn't even try to deny, hide or justify it. Just pretends that he wasn't doing what you clearly saw him doing... or worse, acts like it doesn't matter.

The way I imagined it wasn't quite as funny:

Darkbeast!Beggar: *in human form* Nice place you got here. None of that nasty incense.

Fake!Iosefka: Right. Are you thirsty? Here's a pungent blood cocktail.

Beggar: Thank you (might as well wet my throat first). *gulps it down, falls unconscious*

Fake: Drugs soothe the savage beast. Let's get you up on the operating table.
