Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 5: Eye Eyes Eyes Eyeing Eye Eyeing Eyes

OK.

This is what I'm thinking:

Communist Oversight
[X] Introduce Iris to English.
- [X] Stunt: Download a set of Rosetta stone programs and books onto your computer, then demonstrate how to use them, making sure to download ones that use plenty of mechanical examples. Let him get on with that while you get on with the rest of your business. Then, before going to bed, hit him with Incomparable Efficiency Upgrade, after checking with whoever would usually use it that doing so is OK.
- [X] Stunt: Start the lessons personally, to give him a good start.

Mind Over Matter:
[X] Meditate to recuperate your essence and speed up your healing. Read some books/CDs/flashdrives to buff up on a subject while you do so (Stunt to describe what topic you're reading/training).
- [X] Stunt: If you're going out soon, you should really now exactly what to expect. Download and memorise whatever maps, schematics, plans and information on Brockton Bay you can lay your hands on. It may be useful to comapre them to what your insects discover, as large scale unapproved developments would be a major clue.
- [X] Stunt: Even before you begin looking, you realise that there's someone who can find this material much easier than you. It's only the start of what she owes you for the dress. You'll ask Dragon to assemble it for you. You can't ask for anything above your clearance level, but she seems to know how to get such things done fast.

Tangled Web They Weave: (Free Action)
[X] Get the spiders to work spinning more silk to weave, then focus them towards making something besides undershirts. (Stunt to describe what is woven.)
- [X] Stunt: There are a whole set of new members of the Protectorate on base, and you've made quite an impression so far. Best to consolidate that and what better way to make them something to remember you buy. Order the insects to make each of them a silken Brockton Bay Protectorate jacket, custom fitted just for them, and let them get on with it while you sleep.
- [X] Stunt: Weaving cloth is a slow, complex process compare to the mostly empty webs that your spiders are used to. If they could feel such an emotion, it would be almost a relief for a few of the black widows to spend the time to weave a set of near-ordinary webs that spell out a full translation dictionary between your old and new native languages and mathematics. When they're done, they can then start translating the physics text books that another set of them are reading off the computer.

Research, Research, Research (Free Action)
[X] Direct our swarm to research topics on the internet for us
- [X] Stunt: Remembering to thank Iris for his assistance first, put our spiders to work roaming the digital web. As the first wards, and long serving heroes, there must be lots of information on Rime, Chevalier, and Mouse Protector and their powers out there. Let your minions assistants find out.
- [X] Stunt: What Piggot mentioned about the Wards program is rather concerning - Glenn might come calling. Forewarned is forearmed, so have your mini.. assistants hit social media and find out what the buzz is.

Soldier, Spy (Free Action)
[X] Continue to investigate the PRT staff
- [C] Stunt: now you've recognised your insects ability to detect scents, it would be a shame not to exploit it. Station some appropriate insects around the entrances and track where employees have recently been. Perhaps you'll get lucky and sniff something out.
- [X] Stunt: Patterns. It's all in the patterns. Plant a unique insect on every single person who enters the base, and track them everywhere they go. It may not happen soon, it may take days, but at some points someone's going to slip up and break routine, or venture somewhere they shouldn't.

Yes, I know the stunts are totally crap, and barely stunts at all. I'm not feeling inspired.

Would using SOPA for the Tangled Web action be wise? A bad idea? Or be considered an abuse of it?

It's amazing the fixation people have on Compassion. We're already significantly more Compassionate than a normal person.

High virtues are insanity. Alratan keeps saying that, and he's right, but he hasn't really explained it. At high compassion, you will give someone the clothes off your back, or the last of your water in a desert. At high conviction, you are willing to do anything, no matter how distasteful, in order to further your goals. At high valor, you are incapable of backing off from a fight, and will react to any perceived insult. At high temperance, you are incapable of lying, and thus, keeping a secret. These are not good things. 3 compassion already makes us one of the nicest people you'll meet.

I don't think they have a Rosetta Stone program to teach English to Old Realm users.
As per the last update, Taylor thinks that there is an appropriate program or book out there for him to use, and I'm going with that.

That's not insanity. That's part and parcel of being a hero.
And I am entirely cool with it.

I think Iris is smart enough he may just be able to figure out the language on his own. He should have superhuman intelligence after all.

[X] spudman

I haven't looked through the votes yet, but I'd go for just about anything over compassion. We do not need another virtue increase. Whenever we increase our virtues we change our personality a bit more, which isn't entirely a good thing. We're Enduring Order Adminstrator, we're not built to be freakishly compassionate, we're made to be conviction driven, which is why we started out with conviction four. We're eventually going to get issues doing our job if we keep raising compassion and then have to eat the clarity from suppressing it.

Wrong universe.

Hyperbenediction Apparatus would still help with that, and we have to stop forgetting to reallocate it at night.

[X] Get your Familiar to follow you in your activities, hoping that it will help with whatever you're doing. This is a free action by default, but still can be modified with Stunts to describe specific intended interactions.

One-Hundred Zeroes:
[X] Research something online. (Stunt to say what.)
-[X] Stunt: Search for the most effective methods of collecting, correlating and using data in an investigation. Pattern recognition, cultural habits, psychological cues, these can all be useful in an investigation. We know enough about Lisa, we can find her.

We already have Investigation 3, so we're already as skilled as a trained professional. Do you really think what we could stumble across on the internet us good enough to count as enough better than us to be a teacher? If we're going to spend time dedicated to training Investigation, why waste time like this, when we could literally walk to the other side of the building and work directly with the experts, and so get training and advance the actual investigation that's on going?

Especially considering we're at 5/6. If we perform any Investigation in the next Interval, we'll get that final Interval of training done.

With A Little Help From My Friends: [X] Spend time with a Protectorate member, maybe even some of the new ones like Rime, Mouse Protector, or Chevalier. (Stunt to say which, and what you want to do.)
-[X] Stunt: Meet up with Chevalier privately and get a feel for what he thinks about us. He saw something different about us, and it'd be important to find out what, especially when it comes to getting Iris to understand the physics differences. If he seems amendable to the idea, try to get a sample of his nonessential equipment for analysis.
-[X] Stunt: Share our incredibly good food and socialize with the Protectorate and Ward members on the base. Try to get over the...awkwardness that the boys' attempt to flirt over the past few days have produced. Show off the new outfits by getting Missy dolled up before hand.

No, not at all. In many ways they make it worse, as the more yu know the more you're compelled to act on that knowledge. Virtues can conflict, and you can be forced to chose to supress one or both.

No thanks.
It's more like spend XP to create a vulnerability and then spend more XP to create a second vulnerability. High Virtues are double-edged swords with no hilts and all blade.

Hold on. Why did we use bugs instead of plugging into the computer directly? Does our omnitool not have a USB connection?

It'd be retarded to be able to spend XP to gimp yourself, and from reading past updates, I trust Gromweld to be better than that. The whole business with the Eye turned out brilliantly.
As I've said, Virtues are double-edged swords. High Virtues constrain a character's freedom of choice, but can provide said character with the boost needed to push through in critical moments.

Not seeing the problem, since she is EOA.
