- [] Stunt: now you've recognised your insects ability to detect scents, it would be a shame not to exploit it. Station some appropriate insects around the entrances and track where employees have recently been, when you've learned their unique scent, try to work out who they've recently associated with as well. Perhaps you'll get lucky and sniff something out.
- [] Stunt: Patterns. It's all in the patterns. Plant a unique insect on every single person who enters the base, and track them everywhere they go. It may not happen soon, it may take days, but at some points someone's going to slip up and break routine, or venture somewhere they shouldn't.
I proposed them as ways of using our insects to do extra stuff that wouldn't use up our time.

I did offer changing the Girls' Night to a Wards' Night so that including Gallant would make sense, at least. Though it'd be kind of awkward to bring up the...incident with the others right there.

I'm willing to compromise, but honestly...yes, I think talking to Gallant is best saved for a separate rest/social action for tomorrow.

I'll post my own vote shortly, which will probably include Arlatan's free actions.
Alright, fine. I can work with that. But what about this action?

Glorious Revolutionary Re-education:
[] Talk to Iris in private to let him know that you need to keep your status as an Alchemical Exalted a secret. Explain to him that this country is very different from the society on Autochthon, having no knowledge of Authochthon or Essence-based physics. Emphasize that revealing your true nature now could cause significant problems with the PRT and other local authorities.
- [] Stunt: After explaining the need for secrecy regarding the origin of your powers, teach Iris English while we read to him by reading the same sections in English and then translating the same phrase to Old Realm. Try to smooth over his natural outrage at the inconsistencies, redundancies and room for misperception in the language while we do so.
- [] Stunt: Introduce Iris to the Protectorate and Ward members in the base, to reduce the possibility of unfortunate accidents.

I seriously think we need to do this, otherwise Iris may end up causing trouble for us.

Iris has mentioned understanding that we're 'undercover' at the moment so to speak.

As for modern propaganda...I think he'll absorb more of that and get a better understanding of that than we ever could once he learns English. Suggesting learning about modern advertisement could be a part of list of subjects in a 'learning' stunt.
Very well. Here's my latest action plan:

With A Little Help From My Friends:
[X] Spend time with a Wards/Protectorate member
- [X] Stunt: Girl's night in with Missy, available female Protectorate members, and Dragon in the common room. Messages by email or swarm speak depending on if they're on base at the moment the messages are sent. Required materials to bring are junkfood, pajamas, and (in Dragon's case) a cheesy movie we can laugh at. Missy can model her new outfit.
- [X] Stunt: Keep our own physical activity to a minimum (without freaking people out with bugs), because we need to catch up on rest to fully recover our physical injuries. Conversation can include asking for advice on the boy's advances, especially during this time when a lot is happening.

Communist Oversight:
[X] Get your Familiar to follow you in your activities, hoping that it will help with whatever you're doing. This is a free action by default, but still can be modified with Stunts to describe specific intended interactions.
- [X] Stunt: Introduce Iris to the Protectorate and Ward members in the base, to reduce the possibility of unfortunate accidents.

Mind Over Matter:
[X] Meditate to recuperate your essence and speed up your healing. Read some books/CDs/flashdrives to buff up on a subject while you do so (Stunt to describe what topic you're reading/training).
- [X] Stunt: Make use of our fashion research from earlier, as well as Glenn's costume proposals, advertisments and other such modern day propaganda materials to show Iris the correct use of propaganda within this culture.
- [X] Stunt: Read and translate any physics, chemistry and biology resources(in that order of priority) that we can find for Iris's understanding of local physics. Start with factors that we know to be the same in both Creation and Earth-Bet, and then work towards the underlying theories behind them.

It's really starting to suck having my proposals shot down like this.

I don't think anyone else except for you has even considered my social/rest vote yet, despite all the discussion. Thanks for that.

Listen to arguments, make your own...whatever you decide on, go with that vote. Above all don't take it personally.
Got it. Apoogies for the snappiness, I've been dealing with lag on this end, and some of the frustration bled through.

Because it has been explained repeatedly that 4 dots in Compassion is not exactly a good thing as far as I can tell, yet people are still going for it. It confuses me.

cenotaph said:
Why'd you keep telling others what they should or shouldn't vote for?
Because the choices we make with regard to Virtues will have a serious and permanent affect on how Taylor handles difficult situations, whether in or out of combat. We can't remove dots in Compassion if Taylor ends up doing something foolish because she was pushed to do so by her high Compassion score.

cenotaph said:
Yeah, so? It's a good option to make her more proactive.
Do you understand how the Exalted System works? Virtues sound good, but in this case, they can also have very significant drawbacks. For example, if Taylor has Compassion 5, the highest level you can get for a Virtue, that would mean she would be extremely hesitant to take a lethal shot at people like the Slaughterhouse Nine if they had any civilian hostages with them. And with the S9, there are guaranteed to be casualties; they are monsters in every sense of the word. But with such a high Compassion score, Taylor may be rendered incapable of acting where it really counts, ultimately causing more problems (and likely more casualties) in the long run.

Does having equally high dots in the other Virtues do anything to offset this?

Also, how do we raise our Attributes? Are those static outside of chargen and Aug Charms?

Equally high dots in multiple virtues just means we have to supress one no matter what. And attributes can be raised in a vat, which is where we get new charms.

Other Virtues can help balance things out, but having them highly scored would still cause problems for us. I'd rather we not increase them any more than needed.
Also, how do we raise our Attributes? Are those static outside of chargen and Aug Charms?
That I'm not sure of. You'd have to ask Grom for details.

Ninja'd by Cheshire.

SwiftRosenthal said:

Aha, no. They make it worse. When virtues conflict you are forced to suppress one of them to move forward. It's a lose-lose situation. There's a reason the Unconquered Sun sits in his dome ignoring the world all day.

SwiftRosenthal said:

High Virtues mandate behavior. Characters can resist, but it comes at the cost of mental stress. Having more than one Virtue at high ratings results in a higher chance of Virtues coming into conflict, meaning mental stress no matter the ultimate choice.

I don't want to think that Taylor's choices and actions are determined solely based on game mechanics, but the fact is that Virtues still play a major role in her behavior and mental condition, and if we aren't careful and let her Virtues become too high, it will negatively affect her performance, even if it isn't completely deterministic.

In any case, I think we're already at an ideal level of Compassion. There's no pressing need to raise it further, and we shouldn't waste Clarity or Willpower in order to counteract a level of Virtue that we didn't need in the first place.

We will be doing more meditating tomorrow...and isn't it better to have at least a decent grounding in the more general physical sciences before moving onto something like medicine?
By the way spud, you know we only have 5 XP points available right now, right?

Did we ever reach a consensus on what mods we want for our first armor? Naturally, I prefer my loadout for our initial run since we're going to want something that can effectively take what Coil - that cheating, save scrumming bastard - can throw at us. Notably, sniper ambush with AP rounds.

Veekie has a solid build for a mobile reconnaissance suit, although I think we should hold off on that until we can replicate Yoroi Rapid-Response Armor or Armor of the Unseen Assassin so that we can eliminate the mobility penalty completely.

To elaborate on his idea - it's not a bad suit. The problem is that with the Exceptional bonus his plan taps out at 8 Armor. Once you factor in Piercing from AP rounds (-4 Armor) and our natural soak (+3), we have 7 Armor vs the sniper rifles baseline 9L meaning that we're no better off (if not worse, since I'm assuming that our power armor doesn't get the +3 vs bullets that our baseline costume had) than we were during the assassination attempt. Contrast that with an Armor of 12, which winds up after applying Piercing and natural soak at 11 Armor, two greater than the sniper rifle's 9L. That is a much more comfortable place to be.

Naturally we'll want to boost that by getting a tower shield and walking around with that as part of our standard ensemble since having a PDV of 5 on top of Armor 12 makes it insanely difficult for Coil to do much aside from scratching the paint.

Long term though? Yeah, I want a nimble recon suit too. We ought to be like Titania Erza with a suit of armor for every occasion. Preferably we'll design things so that we switch mods on the fly instead of entire suits, but that's up to Gromweld.

I believe we agreed on these three systems at least:

Motion Assist Exoskeleton
A network of micro-hydraulics, motorized spools and a reinforced exoskeleton taken from Armsmaster's power armor doubles the wearer's ground speed, and grants 1 bonus dot of strength for feats of strength and inflicting damage with attacks.

Hazardous Environment System
A series of insulating materials and modules designed to protect the wearer against exposure to environmental hazards, including fire, electricity, toxic gases and liquids, caustic substances, biological agents, and hard radiation. The wearer has a soak of +14L/17B and hardness 7L/7B against energy attacks, such as that inflicted by heat or flame, plus many powerful ranged First Age weapons (Essence cannons, implosion bows, etc.) and so on. This includes environmental hazards based on energies, such as bonfires, lava, or a critically damaged nuclear reactor core. In addition, the wearer receives a +2 bonus to all Resistance rolls to Avoid Disease and Withstand Poison/Environmental Damage.

Distributed Computer System
A suite of signal monitoring, transmission and broadcasting systems copied from Dragon's work, coupled to a miniaturized, optical computer nodes spread out across the entire suit based off Armsmaster's own suit's systems, this is a full featured data collection, processing and transmission system, with an operating system built in to manage the suit's functions. Interfacing works through a virtual keyboard projected onto the visor's display, which captures finger or Omnitool motions as the input. This gives the user the ability to to detect, intercept and communicate with most forms of wireless communications, as well as the ports and cables for any wired source, granting the user +2 on rolls involving wireless communications and computer systems. This also integrates with the senses of the Tactical Prediction Model Generator, archiving all gathered data and transmissions to the suit memory.

We still need one more. Maybe the Web Crawler module that veekie (I think) suggested? The one where we would have access to Dragon's search algorithms to aid in investigations, both physical and electronic.

Two hours left on the vote, have a vote count. Voting for the suit comes after this set of intervals, I believe.

[X] Stunt: There are a whole set of new members of the Protectorate on base, and you've made quite an impression so far. Best to consolidate that and what better way to make them something to remember you buy. Order the insects to make each of them a silken Brockton Bay Protectorate jacket, custom fitted just for them, and let them get on with it while you sleep.

-[X] Stunt: Search for the most effective methods of collecting, correlating and using data in an investigation. Pattern recognition, cultural habits, psychological cues, these can all be useful in an investigation. We know enough about Lisa, we can find her.

-[X] Stunt: If you're going out soon, you should really now exactly what to expect. Download and memorise whatever maps, schematics, plans and information on Brockton Bay you can lay your hands on. It may be useful to compare them to what your insects discover, as large scale unapproved developments would be a major clue.

[X] Stunt: Girl's night in with Missy, available female Protectorate members, and Dragon in the common room. Messages by email or swarm speak depending on if they're on base at the moment the messages are sent. Required materials to bring are junkfood, pajamas, and (in Dragon's case) a cheesy movie we can laugh at. Missy can model her new outfit.

[X] Stunt: Keep our own physical activity to a minimum (without freaking people out with bugs), because we need to catch up on rest to fully recover our physical injuries. Conversation can include asking for advice on the boy's advances, especially during this time when a lot is happening.

what.
not only are those out of date(grom modded the HES and DCS modules) it ignores people that want the Advanced Materials Upgrade.
Well, do you have an up-to-date module list to post? I REALLY don't like having to go searching blindly through dozens of pages to find things.
