Cooking a meal and setting up some board and video games should not be that strenuous.spudman said:That requires physical work and prevents any possibility of rest during that interval. If Taylor needs to socialize it should be relaxing.
Though as I mentioned the Girls' Night In can be worked so that it includes talking about/getting advice on dealing with the boys, which should be helpful. All while resting the body.
Very well, point taken. I'll go back and edit my vote.DragonBard said:We trained, we used that training to get a dot in Socialize. To get the next dot in Socialize, we need 4 more Intervals of Socialization, then we can spend XP on it.
Look on the Front Page of the thread.
In Grom's second post, you will find a character sheet for Taylor.
On that sheet, Grom has a list of Abilities Training.
You can only vote for the the Abilities that say 6/6, or Specialties that are listed.
Those show that we have sufficient training to spend XP and increase our Abilities in them.
Look, I'll tell you what: I'll vote for this option if we modify one of the stunts to include apologizing to Gallant for the incident in the supply closet. We seriously owe him at least that much.spudman said:Revised socialization/rest action.
With A Little Help From My Friends:
[] Spend time with a Wards/Protectorate member
-[] Stunt: Girl's night in with Missy, available female Protectorate members, and Dragon in the common room. Messages by email or swarm speak depending on if they're on base at the moment the messages are sent. Required materials to bring are junkfood, pajamas, and (in Dragon's case) a cheesy movie we can laugh at. Missy can model her new outfit.
-[] Stunt: Keep our own physical activity to a minimum (without freaking people out with bugs), because we need to catch up on rest to fully recover our physical injuries. Conversation can include asking for advice on the boy's advances, especially during this time when a lot is happening.
Because TAYLOR needs to have a better understanding of the world that her power comes from.Alratan said:What do people want to do with Occult that Iris can't do better than us?
Why? She already has a strong working knowledge. Getting it up to three dots means we're as good as a professional. Even at the current ranking we should know enough to ask Iris the right questions for anything we need to know. We should never make another test against it, as we can always ask him.BobTheNinja said:Because TAYLOR needs to have a better understanding of the world that her power comes from.
Either one works for me, but I really think it should be in there somewhere. Here's my revised action plan:spudman said:Do you mean modifying one of the stunts in my proposed action or one of the other actions (including free actions)?
We'll never be good enough for that. Essence 10 Alchemicals, with ten ranks in Occult, three relevant specialities, and Intelligence 15 have tried and failed for millenia.Carrnage said:

Why would this be a free action. It takes up time, hence by definition is not free. Free actions are ones that don't take time at all, because we're multi-tasking.BobTheNinja said:Apology (Free Action)
[] Find Gallant and apologize to him for what happened in the supply closet. Explain that the whole thing was a misunderstanding on our part, one that quickly spiraled out of control.
Or, we buy a radio. We should also never be doing any Occult in the field, because nothing in Earth-Bet uses Essence.Nervaqus987 said:Because Iris is always going to be with us whenever we need him and we're always going to have time to ask him a question and wait for a response, which will always be one that we understand right off the bat with no difficulties.
Why would Occult help with that?Quantumboost said:Approach the problem from the side of someone originally from Earth-Bet.
Have a stronger basis for understanding between her and Iris without going high-Clarity.
Which we can't use due to lack of ingredients and is no better than Tinkertech.Quantumboost said:

On this point, what are your objections to the actually free actions I proposed?
Because in order to understand the differences between and interactions of two systems, it's useful to actually, y'know, understand those systems?Alratan said:

Your stunt needs to be something that permits multi-tasking.Gromweld said:- Stunts and Charms can allow you to multi-task, effectively granting 'extra' Intervals. For example, you can spend time making a spider-silk outfit yourself (for a higher quality) or Stunt to have your spiders weave the outfit while you work on other projects.
You know, I decided to put aside both the party idea and the apology in the last interval because I was under the impression that we were going to get those things done this evening. It's rather irritating that they are being put off yet again, and I REALLY don't want the people participating in this quest to forget about those proposed actions. Not only that, but I don't think we actually need to get advice on boys in order to go apologize to Gallant. We're making amends, not asking him out on a date. Plus I personally think it would be rude to put off apologizing to him.spudman said:Honestly I think the apology to Gallant can wait until AFTER we get advice on dealing with the boys. We could include it as part of a rest action tomorrow morning somehow.
No, we've done enough investigation work for today. Right now, we should be winding down, gathering our thoughts and socializing.landcollector said:
Fine, I'll keep that in mind from now on.Alratan said:
Curing Autocthon's disease while he remains Autocthon is likewise impossible, as his disease is an integral part of his identity and his nature, and probably connected to reviving the dead clause, given that Autocthon is part dead and the Engine of Extinction quasi-exists. There are other things that are impossible, such as de-Exalting someone.Carrnage said:False, in exalted only two things are impossible, reviving the dead and backward timetravel, and even those have workarounds.
We don't need to know. Iris will be better at it than we ever will, and we can just ask him.Quantumboost said:Because in order to understand the differences between and interactions of two systems, it's useful to actually, y'know, understand those systems?
Because Occult represents knowledge of Essence-related things, including Primordial metabiology, which Iris is a part of? And establishes further a common base of knowledge on the reality he comes from?
Plus, it gives us greater access to the meta-plot-relevant elements of the setting crossover.
The fact that Iris will always (well, for a thousand years) be better at it than us, as he's a 3rd Circle Craft Deva, and we're a non-Elder Alchemical. If we ever use one of those ingredients we're wasting it, as he can, and always will, be able to make better use of it.Quantumboost said:The lack of viable ingredients is a problem currently, but I see using that as an excuse to not increase the skill that could help rectify that as a cop-out.
These are all things we will not be able to accomplish until we have access to vats, and probably not then, as they're either Artifact 5 or N/A, and/or require massive magitech infrastructure to support.Quantumboost said:Tinkertech is useful for many things, but there are things it doesn't do nearly as well as Essence-tech (no-selling Behemoth's kill aura in an area by shutting down Shaping, for instance) and it requires us to have a Tinker with the appropriate specialty to get samples. We likely won't be able to build a functioning human-teleporter without help from Chariot or acquiring an appropriate Lore specialty, f'rinstance. And there are probably things that currently-plausible Tinkertech just can't do as well as Essence-tech, like shutting down Shaping-like effects over an area.
As has been already mentioned, that Iris gives us an answer doesn't mean that we understand that answer.Alratan said:We don't need to know. Iris will be better at it than we ever will, and we can just ask him.
If we can work in apologizing to Gallant today, I'd be happy to go with the Girl's Night idea, as long as we can hold the Wards Party either tomorrow or Sunday, assuming they're available then. But I really don't want to put it off longer than necessary. We NEED to start seriously bonding with our entire team, both for Taylor's sake and to maximize our teamwork.spudman said:And I've been pushing for as much rest as possible...
I'm not opposed to apologizing to Gallant in person today...if it can work with an action (because it doesn't seem like it can be a free one on its own) somehow.
Maybe it could be made a Wards night in, instead of a Girls' Night, I don't know. Though I prefer the idea of the latter.
I asked before, but I'll ask again. Why don't you want to do any free actions and instead essentially waste the time that would gain us?BobTheNinja said:If we can work in apologizing to Gallant today, I'd be happy to go with the Girl's Night idea, as long as we can hold the Wards Party either tomorrow or Sunday, assuming they're available then. Here's my edited action plan:
Explain the free actions you're referring to please. Right now you're just confusing the hell out of me.Alratan said:I asked before, but I'll ask again. Why don't you want to do any free actions and instead essentially waste the time that would gain us?
*pinches bridge of nose, sighs heavily*spudman said:That second stunt takes away the REST aspect, and has nothing to do with the rest of the action. And it doesn't specify WHEN we find Gallant...because as is it could be seen as DURING the actual Girls' Night. Which screws up the socialization as well.
Either make it a Wards movie night (perhaps including Missy modeling her outfit for the others), or leave the Gallant apology for a different action. It would be a lot simpler to integrate it into a rest action tomorrow. That way there can be that and the Girls' Night this evening.
