Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 14: Newborn Number Needs Nurturing, Nine Newcomers Near

So, our next Tinker project has to be to upgrade our armor with tech we got from repairing all those costumes. I mean Hero's tech alone will be a great boost, but if we got some kind of energy shield, or better power source and so on... Yeah we need to integrate it ASAP.

Wouldn't work, unfortunately. You can't exalt non-humans (well, non-humanoidish. I know Djala count, can't remember if Lintha do.) and the Simurgh is too far outside of human physiology to be a viable candidate :V

If I recall correctly, this is because only humans have a soul-structure capable of supporting a Celestial Exaltation. Alchemical Exaltations work differently... but it's irrelevant, since in this quest Autochthon is making souls as part of the process of making Alchemical Exalts. Ziz would be unlikely to pose more of a problem, in this particular respect, than either Taylor Hebert or Marrow did.

...

She's already thrown herself into the Cradle and used up our Starmetal slot, hasn't she.

Striker/Trump should be the Mental acceleration touch, not the " Limited immunity to environmental hazards" which is a Brute power.
You may have a point about the limited immunity thing; it would probably count more as a Brute/Breaker power than a Trump; chalk it up to inaccurate editing.
Taylor's page can't be more than a couple months old after all.

The mental acceleration thing is a Thinker power.
The fact that it can amplify other people's powers? Would be classified as a Trump.
That would not be public info, because it's one of her trump cards.
i thought taylor said her favorite band was queen?

It's a wikipedia, what do you expect?
What he said.
The actual text says her fave type of music is metal, and her favorite singer is Freddy Mercury.
Just seemed like enough to be confusing, and trigger edit wars.
The issue was not with submodules but rather with the POS upgrade charms. POS by itself does essentially nothing. Even the first upgrade charm, Identity Recalibration Signal, requires Manipulation 5, placing it out of reach at character creation.
That doesn't necessarily mean that we would have chosen POS if it had been an option, but there certainly would have been discussion.
I'm not sure I want to go digging recheck the old argument.
But I do remember that Manip is favored for Soulsteels, and that Grom was hinting that it was an option, along with Mobile Sensory Drone.
*shrug*
Probably something for another Assembly member, I suspect.

We don't have copies of the tinkertech from back then. We can't replicate it.

Yes we can.
More slowly(no 50% speed boost), but we can.
Just not currently cost-effective.
Forgive me. Maybe I'm mistaken. I was under the impression that unless we had done a specific action at that time or relatively close to that time, when we had the tinkertech, to make a copy, then the tech would be considered 'lost' to us unless we re-acquired it. That, I recall, was WoG from Gromwell.

IDK; Better gear is always good. maybe get Chris (Kid Win) to turn our armor into a modular thing so we can switch out pieces as needed, and get him to make the changes based on blue prints we write* up for it.

This could also help him too, because he could use what he learns to make better gear and be more effective. so we would be boosting a Wards combat ability as well as our own.

I mean micro-missles are always useful, and for normal use we can just switch them out for containment foam warheads. There has to be other things in that armor that would be useful. Not to mention then inferred other Tinker-Tech armor we fixed up. Not all of those costumes were just normal things, odds are good 4 or 5 of them had some form of Tinker-Tech in them.

We should also look into making a Nanothorn Sword to use in Endbringer fights.

And of course MINIONS, I mean... assistants to help with things. WE ARE AND ADMINISTRATOR WE MUST DELEGATE!

Hey Gromwell, can we do this?

*Edit:Miss word

This is the applicable Technomorphic Integration Engine submodule
Endodiagnostic Analytical Routines (Perception 4): The Alchemical perfectly understands all properties, powers and other characteristics of any object in the moment of internalizing it. This knowledge remains even after the item is extruded. Through comprehensive empathy algorithms that harmonize with new technology, the Exalt also can internalize objects that lack an owner (claiming instant ownership in the process). Finally, the cumulative difficulty to make a copy, improve a copy or make an improved version of any internalized object via appropriate Craft rolls is halved, rounded up. The example must remain internalized for the entire period of crafting for this benefit to apply.
TL; DR
Blueprints are acquired as soon as the object is absorbed.
The buff for making a copy, though only applies as long as we have a model in our pocket dimension.

This essentially means that yes, we can build a copy of Hero's armor, no problem.
But without an internalized model to work from, it will take us at least 2x as long to finish.
That's a lot of time, given that we have other things to do.

Of course, given that Grom does tweak the rules a little, confirmation is probably a good idea.

Having tons of options sounds like a good idea, but it really just turns things into an unmanageable mess. Debates would either rage forever over whether to use Missile Package 1 or BeamSpam 2.X, or they'd cease entirely as people got daunted by the huge lists and just bandwagon with the two or three people actually willing to read through all that stuff.

I'm much more interested in social options and long-term planning than making tweaks to our equipment.

What I want to see is large scale battlefield control tech not necessarily part of our armor. I'm thinking forcefields that can be deployed to block off a straight mile and able to withstand Behemoth trying to batter his way through it.

...also having access to personal forcefields for armor 2.0 sounds like a good idea, even if it's comparatively sickly. Being able to shrug off damage counts for more than a little when you're as squishy as Taylor is, and the cascading lightning strikes from Behemoth may have made me a mite concerned once upon a thyme.

Beamspam McBeamspammer!

But yes, social options are good to have as well. I'd say a good start would be getting Iris back, deal with that pesky murderhobo infestation, politely inquire as to what Iris requires moving forward (mentioning that Dragon was throwing a medical nanite party and he was invited?), and securing the groundwork for more Resources dots for ourselves. Personally, I'm thinking leveraging the fashionista angle with Parian, but I also want a hardcore spider silk uniform output equipping the PRT and affiliated heroes (and sometimes villains!) to help protect them from the vulgarities of careers where a sizable percentage of their coworkers shoot fireballs from their eyes and are immune to kryptonite.

...next step; apply Craft score to build a better mouse trap

Fair Enough, but a few basic weapons would be useful, unless we want to punch Endbringers. So just some basic Containment Foam missiles, and some Kill Missiles, and well as a blade weapon would be good. Though I personally say, Bladed weapon, plus a teleportation array. That gives us mobility and damage.

Why a bladed weapon?

No, really. If we're using something for close in work, why not just put some shock fists on the armor and work Martial Arts?

The Containment Foam missiles I don't mind, it makes sense, but kill missiles; what for? 99% of the capes she'll face will be containable with the foam, and of the 1% left over chances are they either don't have a Kill Order out on them or regular missiles won't do much better.

Teleportation array I can get behind, though I'm thinking of its utility on a squad based level (or similar; I want me some point-to-point teleportation effects for Endbringer fights. Hooray for getting there firstest with the mostest!)

So, Yeah SHIELDS PLEASE!
They would be something extremely useful.

Those are deffenately a good idea. We need Infrastructure, minions and so on. The ability to have people make things for us, research, or work on just about anything that could come up would be good.

Imagine highering the Undersides as rogues to work for you??? I'm sure we could find someone to take care of Bitches problems.

Why would we hire the Undersiders? We're kind of pissed upset with them at the moment, what with their involvement with the whole 'shoot Taylor, kidnap Danny' thing. Yeah they're mercs so they could, theoretically, be hired by us...but even if we could trust them (we shouldn't) there's the problems of oversight (we're a Ward, one that's been drawing a lot of attention lately, and we came home from a field trip with the body of one of our coworkers and acted like that was okay, people are definately watching us right now), payment (we've only got so much money) and at this point Bitch is so far outside our Monkey Sphere that we couldn't care less about her unless we were actively trying to

First off. Blade because it will give us the 'knight in shining armor' PR angle to work with. Though I concede that the Shock fist would be good.

Second. Kill missiles for S-Class fights. After all it would be a Missile Fabricator so could change easily enough with no real effort.

Third. YAY TELE.

Forth. We need a place to set up a Fabricator (if we can) to run off of blue-prints to make mass use equip for S-Class fights. Like shield backs, and Tele packs.

Fair point, I said them because they're a solid group that could work but we could always reach out to a dif group like (I forget there name, the mercs from BB?). The point is Minions to look into things would be useful.

have you seen our(taylor's) stat sheet? 1 dot of strength and no dots of Melee or Martial Arts, compared to our ranged options(dex 4 + archery/firearms 3) and flight/invisibility we don't want to or have to be anywhere near Melee combat.

>.>
No I had not...

Ok; I vote Railgun.
Ooh, ooh! Let's reignite the drones vs trick arrows and tinkertech bow vs tinkertech guns debate!

I'll start: I vote for fist-headed knockout arrows!

So, just something I cobbled together just now.

Once, there was an ebon maiden...
...Who was given the hope of worlds.
Heros sought her for her power.
Men sought her for her wisdom.
She Says: "They will never win!"
Victory is written by souls of steel.

Thoughts?

Indeed.

This has the added advantage that Martial Arts lets us get Martial Arts charms once we get a vat and the Alchemical charm that lets us actually learn Martial Arts charms.
