Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 12: Luminous Loom Lavishes Luxurious Largess

I don't want Tattletale to love us, I want to nail her to the wall and make her tell us everything she and Coil said to our father, and if she won't talk, we can do it literally instead of metaphorically.

Now, in all seriousness, I don't actually think beating up Tattltale is a good idea. I do think that making it clear that failing to furnish us with the information we require will earn our extended enimity is right and proper. We are damned dangerous and being on our bad side is not someplace she she wants to be.

Also, I enjoy creatively worded threats, and that strikes me as appropriate for a Starmetal :)
No we just offer her a truckload of sinfully delicious food we just cooked if she spills everything, no one can resist our cooking NO ONE :D

mmh from what I remember all builds include:
- regeneration, heal other
- remove armor encumbrance
- various defense charms
the divergences then pop up with:
- perception
- surprise negation
- flight
- truth detection
Also social charm inserts to take advantage of her Appearance and Charisma
And lie detecting we have technology for it already.
with perception/surprise detection getting pretty costly?
2 charms actually, but the nice thing about soak builds is that it is nearly impossible to gank you from surprise by dint of too damned tough, and regenerating to boot. At full armoring, it's not unlike fighting an Endbringer.
mmh truth detection, anima flare and she tells us whats up no one the wiser mmh,

Invisibility is out? I mean she could be rocking her anima flare and stay invisible and keep punching and everyone goes wha?
(I mean that was the problem with our invis right, we go invis repeatedly, which flares our banner and there is the big ass spider pointing our way)
Marrow has very very limited Personal Essence due to the commitment costs of combat charms, which makes stealth difficult to use with...well, anything at all.

Updating my vote:

[x] Bladedancer

[X] PRT and Me: Spend casual time with a PRT member. Stunt chooses PRT person and sets scene.
-[X] Stunt: When you scheduled a planning meeting with Samson, Uriel and Dragon you didn't expect Dragon to show in person. Well, a Dragon suit. Either the suit really was in the area (visiting Armsmaster?) or she wants to put a more personal touch on this project. The aerial photos of Camden taken by you, Gust, and Bezalel's drones cover the table.

[X] PRT and Me: Spend casual time with a PRT member. Stunt chooses PRT person and sets scene.
-[X] Stunt: You feel nervous as you sit down, sharing the table with Chevalier, Uriel and several monitors showing Legend, Dragon and Glenn. You concentrate on the creaking wood of the chair, the lines of the table, calming down before you talk. "I've talked to some of you of this before, but with Loom's warning, it's time to talk openly about Exaltation."

[X] Low Places: Spend casual time with a Rogue, Vigilante, or Villain. Stunt chooses whom and sets scene.
-[x] Stunt: You walk with Parian through the Underground Market stopping occasionally to examine the stalls. The business is a good idea, but I'm working with Dragon on another project as well. If you think you're up for it I think the business could play a part and do some real good. There is a catch though.

[X] Ruinous Ruminations: Pop on over to Kyushu and meditate. Stunt chooses focus (SoPA or Write-In) and sets scene.
-[X] Stunt: Armsmaster's inflamed Corona Gemma has some disturbing implications on the influence of powers on parahumans. You read up on parahuman psychology as you settle down on Kyushu's bare grounds, with Aisha and Vista, your image reflected on a clear water pool as you focus on the Shard of Perfect Administration, the sparks of Industrial Survival Frame dancing across your skin.

[X] Free Action: Between PRT Thinkers, Dragon's resources, and your own rather impressive SOPA supported detective skills, you can find every little hint, every appearance on a CCTV camera, every little bit of data that your enhanced intelligence can then correlate to locate your father and Iris.

[X] Free Action: Like a jumping spider ambushing its prey, you waylay a lone Chevalier on his way to Uriel's office. "I need this signed." You shove the paperwork at him. You worked long and hard using the bug computer to figure out Dr. Yamada's schedule to let her visit the refugee camp semi-regularly. "Can you get the Director to sign it too?"

[X] 4 XP - Investigation ●●●●●
[X] 3 XP - Ally (Parian) ●○○○○

Given that it's actually Armsmaster's work, he could quite easily reduce the size or alter the shape further.

Oh, but she still could be invisible, punch someone into the face, flare her anima, go invisible again. And the guy just forgets that he just got punched by a 2m woman made of crystal?

(I just find that really funny xD)

What I think IC, Marrow would pick;
Patriotism Provoking Display, she probably regrets being not convincing enough to prevent some case53s joining up with Jack
Pattern Restoration System, it can heal ..most.. case 53s right? (it'd kinda a bummer if that costs enough motes to make her immediatly forgotten)

[X] PRT and Me: Spend casual time with a PRT member. Stunt chooses PRT person and sets scene.
-[X] Stunt: Loom's warning and Dragon's plans makes a meeting with the Directors critical. You bring Iris's notes and gathered news reports to Uriel, Director, I have identified some possible threats and opportunities from Loom's warning. I would like your permission and help, to contain the damage to Philadelphia and make success more likely. This is about Camden, and Exaltation.

[X] Low Places: Spend casual time with a Rogue, Vigilante, or Villain. Stunt chooses whom and sets scene.
-[X] Stunt: Brian's ongoing attachment to Aisha makes for an ideal opportunity to guide him, and thus, the Undersiders towards more legal activities. You meet Parian at her new workshop-boutique in Camden, with a list of Philadelphia's PR savvy cape population in hand. If someone's brother could find legal work here, the siblings can be together again, without risking conflict.

edit; regarding my choices, contains planning for threats (S9) and Uriel.
preventing the Undersiders from sliding into crime is all I want (and all we can achieve with them for now, I guess).

Invisibility flat out doesn't work while the anima is going, so it doesn't work like that. But if she rockets in out of nowhere, goes Totemic, hammers you through the walls and then flies away you'd forget WHO did it, only that you got punched by some really fast really strong stranger.

This is completely irrelevant to the ongoing discussion, but I had a brainstorm.

Does the Twins' power work through indirect line of sight? The difference between a yes and no is just whether they have to be "sent" inside first (to log the location) or can shortcut their way in via a live security feed.

In a later arc, could they help us extract any Birdcage prisoners who don't belong there (first vetting each one with Dragon and relevant PRT officials, of course)? If yes, after we get Vat access we could repeat the process, this time Override Spiking anyone who does belong there. Rehabilitation was never so simple!

they can go to any place they know well enough and remember which is why they got taken on that teleporter world tour.

Also, hell no, that's what Doormaker is for. Not putting the Twins in range of that hellhole(at least, not without ISF), especially with all kinds of Masters inside as well who can coerce them into a general breakout.

They were intimately involves in the attempt to murder us, given how obviously coordinated them breaking Danny out was with the hit on us. They don't get a bye because they claim they were working for Coil, about who there is pretty much no evidence that he wasn't just a figment of Tattletale's imagination at this point.

Does our attempted assassination at our own introduction sound like not actively causing trouble?

I think you're seriously white washing them, based on OOC knowledge neither we nor the PRT has access to.
Oh shut up Alratan. You don't like the Undersiders. Fine. You are a broken record at this point. I, and others, believe we can swing bringing them over in the future.

I think that Marrow's build is going to depend on if Grom decides it will be more interesting to give PLM to her or not.

PLM would allow her to replace some combat Alchemical charms with Fist of the Daystar Charms, leaving Personal Essence free for more Alchemical Charms, either combat or social. Plus, it would allow her to learn (or more likely create) more CMA charms later. Question is, does it fit Marrow's style? It could, though seems more Bladedancer, and even then, she's not really a MA but a Melee type.

Which is kind of a drag, as I'd like to see one of our combat Alchemicals with PLM.
Noting that Perfected Lotus Matrix takes 2 motes on it's own, which is the same cost as the Augment and Piston Driven Megaton Hammer + Essence Irradiation Corona, while it takes 3-5 MA charms, not counting the slot PLM takes, to reach the same kind fo quality.

aww xD, oh well.
Forgot to mention, as far as I can see your main build looks really solid (though I have poor knowledge of Exalted) but flavor wise you have my swovote.

Aisha? since she will be our troll build. ... by Thor, someone will get punched and immediatly forget who did it!

We don't have to talk to Uriel ourselves about Camden. Spending our free time helping Dragon isn't something we need Uriel's explicit authorization for and I doubt there is anything we need to physically do in Camden until at least next week.
I would really like to build a Shatterbird warning system, some vibrational sensors around the city hooked to some monster sirens/speakers, (might as well add some seismic sensors).
..Seriously if those guys walk into town I want them to get greeted by an army.

The broken record is the continual attempts o contact them prematurely, diverting effort and endangering higher priorities, and, indeed, endanger getting back in touch with them in the long run by rushing it. For example, why not accept the proposal I made to clear the venture with Parian with Uriel as an official operation? That's much less liely to cause problems than attempts to talk straight to talking to them directly without clearance.

When the Quest Runner and then beta for the Quest Runner has to come out and explicitly warns people about the potential issues of doing so, you should really take note.

Aisha's age makes it pretty problematic to Exalt her soon. There are lots of older candidates that are less so.

I'd think that is something we will talk with Uriel about at the next opportunity, I mean legetimizing capes is the strategy he built his city around. ..excepting Camden. But getting in touch with Grue is time critical?
(I am not certain if your critique applies to my vote)

Regarding Aisha, ignore me.

Jinnt said:
Not saying we shouldn't talk to him just that we aren't doing anything in Camden that requires us to talk to him yet.
If we meet up with Parian/the Undersiders we probably are. Remember that when it comes down to we aren't the one who decides what we should be telling him, he is.

We should probably notify him that they've tried to get in contact with us at the very least. Hiding that there's a new villain team in town would not look good at all.

You know with Marrow's ability to fire tiny supersonic boneshards and massive bone javelins from "launchers" I keep imagining her being like the Heavy arms custom as an alchemical

VOTING IS CLOSED!

Tallying now.

So opinions on the Marrow builds so far?
Not bad. I am amused by some of the more creative builds. Good work, all around, and I'll likely be taking some bits and pieces from what people have presented thus far.

How does Marrows shard affect her stats in a clinch?
Can she exude the jagged armor as part of an attack, such as during a clinch?
Does her jagged armor function as a Razor Harness?
Does her jagged armor and condensed armor stack?
- Marrow doesn't become super-huge anymore (that's a sub-mod now), so her stats are the same as if she was just wearing lots of armor - hence the Mobility Penalties.
- Extruding Jagged Armor is a reflexive action, so it can be done during a clinch.
- Jagged and Condensed armor are mutually exclusive, so they can't be stacked.
- I'm changing the Jagged Armor melee benefit to bring it in-line with a Bloodspike Harness - so, yes, it's like a Razor Harness.

DragonBard said:
But you'd also get an MA charm that has the same affects as Toroidal Shockwave Catalyst

But yeah, unless there were a lot more MA Charms she could learn, it's not as good.
There are a lot more, but most of them just pile on more ways to inflict status effects, etc. And Martial Arts in general get hampered a lot by armor, limiting expansion. If it was Weld, Clockblocker, or any of the Wards(bar Kid Win), they could go a lot further with Martial Arts.

Wait, what? That doesn't make physical sense to me - Marrow extrudes some slow, heavy armor, then pops some spikes out on top of that.

How I thought it would work is a linear combination of stamina cap can be spent on either jagged or condensed armor. So if you can do 8 levels of condensed or 4 levels of jagged, you could instead do 4 levels of condensed AND 2 levels of jagged.

Edit: Re-reading it, and condensed armor is exoskeletal and jagged armor is subcutaneous. Now this makes more sense - I thought they were flipped around. That is, condensed armor is under the skin, and jagged spikes are outside it.
First rule of Exalted: It's Bullshit Magic That Doesn't Make Sense.
I'm still playing with it for now, anyway. The final version will probably work a little differently than I posted.

So who won? I just finished reading the update right as you closed the vote. Really hope it's Marrow.
