While he was dumb when got there, he only really becomes this dumb when he got hijacked by Omega. Otherwise I don't recall anything like that from before he got there.

The show offered two different explanations for why Caboose is, well, Caboose. The first is that Caboose was already simple and Omega and Church screwing around in his head just made it worse. The second is that Caboose's armor went into armor lock and he the lack of oxygen damaged his brain. Personally, I'm leaning toward both in that the armor lock is why Caboose is simple when we first see him, and the aftereffects of Omega and Church's actions in his mentalscape just made things worse.

Restoration is the nineteenth and final season of RvB, as well as Rooster Teeth's last main project after Warner Bros. Discovery closed its doors in March. It retcons the Shisno Paradox and Zero as "simulations" Epsilon runs, hoping he can find something to prepare the Reds and Blues. To my understanding, it was originally supposed to be a proper season, but it was changed into a feature length film.
Oh, and Burnie Burns and Matt Hullum return as writer and director respectively.

Only the ending. I won't spoil anything, but the AI Fragments Epsilon created at the end of the trilogy play an important role.

Seems like it. It's a clever retcon, I'll admit. That said, the film also suggests the events of Restoration may also be a simulation, though never made clear.
On that note, when I inevitably get back to this story, DO NOT SPOIL RESTORATION IN THIS THREAD. I would rather not spoil people who have not seen the movie, if it's all the same to everybody else.
