A true hero... in training (Pokemon Gym Leader's apprentice quest)

[X] Move quickly and get in the way to protect the Shinx. Maybe the Luxray will not kill you.

Full shonen protag time bois, throw logic to the side and lets show this luxray how team azure rolls.

(If anyone doesnt get the joke than i am saddened.)

Honestly, I don't want to use Maelstrom because I'm like 99% sure we will die.

But at the same time, I don't want us to have to be the kind of guy that will just watch a pokemon die in front of us.

So that's why I picked the middle option. Also, hopefully we can appeal to this mysterious treaty, whatever that is.

I like the little guy too much to see him die, but I don't want to risk Maelstrom. We can probably wrangle a deal if we take him and GTFO of his forest tonight.

Guys? The Shinx Line can't learn Thunder naturally. They have to learn it from a TM. He's an abandoned mon.

So we have two theories.

1. It was trained and then abandoned.

2. There's a treaty going on with either a human or organization. In return for being trained, the Luxray can give something back. Humans aren't allowed in its domain. Maybe there's some sort of base or mysterious MacGuffin there?

The Luxray will definitely kill Maelstrom and possibly Haru for challenging him, but if we defend instead of attack, then maybe he'll allow us to live. Either that, or this quest might end up switching to Violet dealing with Haru's death.

We could do nothing.

We could. Might be the best choice.

Not one I can accept.

I get the idea behind the words but please no?

This Luxray is a prideful bastard. He'll just take it as a challenge.

And Maelstrom is the worst Pokémon to pull out and Lily is vastly outnumbered and outclassed. We'll try to rescue the Shinx but we're already playing with fire.

If we can word it as deferential and removing the challenger away - that might work. But anything that can be construed as an order will end badly.

so poke battle cause of the eye thing

Yeah, and the vote about looking him in the eyes? Pretty sure that could count as a challenge. As well as everything said in the vote's dialogue.

Honestly, I think our best bet is grovelling as much as possible and shoving Shinx down with us if need be. I mean, sure it's gonna damage our relationship, but better that than our lives.

This guy is prideful and ruthless. He is willing to fucking bite off a child of his own species' head, just because it challenged him.

No, we are not appealing to a better nature. If there is one, it is buried.

How about this"

Use Maelstrom to stop Luxray. It will be a really difficult battle.
lol no. We barely even fended off Maelstrom's future waifu. Training or not, we got no chance.

Personally, I would prefer going for

[X] With Lily as translator, ask Luxray to allow you to take the Shinx away.
-[x] with the intention of giving shinx to the gym leader

Since it doesnt seem like the little shinx wont be accepted into a pack, lets just take it for now. A quick Pokemon Center trip, and informing the gym leader about our suspicions (with the shinx as proof) then we can let the gym leader decide what to do with the little poke.

too flowery and specific. Best to just vote for the general action usually.
We're trying to appeal to his ego and sooth ruffled fur. If he's got a better nature, it's not a forgiving one. And as the leader of a pride, being shown such deference by a human would help bolster his image.
