[X]Slice Fate
[X] Lift the Siege

Rerolls are incredibly important. We can compensate for the spent Arete with a flurry of fanworks, but if we lose this reroll now, we may never get it again. I don't have any strong leanings about what to do here, but I guess 3 pick enemy fight is as good of a choice as any.
Ironically, the amount of arete we would need to compensate for Slice Fate is so high we can buy Cut Through instead. Since at the update post we needed 8.5 arete for it without arete debt. Thus 7.5 with it. So a mere .5 beyond what compensating for Cut Through would get us.

So... Omake flurry, but dedicated to getting Cut Through. We've already gone quite overboard (past 20k words).

To echo the above, I'd like to know the salient points of why people are voting for Highschool!Letrizia Interlude.

...Saying that out loud, I can probably guess why.
I'm just with Conjured Blade for this update, but Opalescence and Investigate are agreeable enough options. Vigor Itself or Fierce Quickening might be more efficient Arete-less picks and going straight for the Springs awards three-quarters of a point, but we've neglected the Sky and Letrizia in social combat against enemies on her level could be fun.

'On her level' is an interesting phrase, though. What a jarring contrast it must be, to go from the star-striding might of an Elder Implement in the glorious high noon of its existence, totally subsumed in Verschlengorge's astral shadow, to piloting a diminished monster. Hunger's not the only one who's fallen from a great height. But even that can't compare to the sheer loss that must occur every time she steps out of the cockpit. How can you go from god to mortal and back again while retaining your sanity? Arthur experienced psychological backlash just from toggling Defiance; Letrizia does so for a living.

Back to the decision: from an IC standpoint, it's Letrizia who's making this choice. If the Elixir Springs' magic has to do with health, as seems likely, then unlocking it could be crucial for not only withstanding repeated Decimation, but healing her father. Admittedly, they've had mages look at him before, but the Voyaging Realm is vast and contains multitudes.

I wonder how long it would take Gisena to learn how to pilot a plane... Going for a high speed pass over the rotbeast to inflict some spirit sapping wounds and then skedaddling to let it bleed out would be pretty fun
Hmm, can we control our fall with Fall of Night even if we have another person on our back. If Verschlengorge throws Hunger with Gisena on his back over the Rotbeast to do some nullity bombardment and Hunger uses FoN to slow our fall can this be used as a legitimate bombing run?

I'm partially hoping we can parry the School investigation into a second update, which would get us more than the .75 arete just by the extra time gained. This makes the Arete option a lot less attractive.

Also folks: If you're hanging around and not doing anything just try to write. Reactions don't have to be super interesting, insightful, or anything. They just need to be.

We can push to 8.5 arete before we return to the temple, easily if the School investigation ends up giving us two updates here. But Omake value grows the more Omakes already exist, and we're past 20k, so if you have some to drop... now is the time.

The school update already gave us Conjured's tactical omake nuke which is... maybe not 7 points of arete, but still. 10k words. That's, a lot.

I am ready to give him his school hijinks at least for that alone, other agreements besides.

I do wish we Cut Throught the rotbeast tho. I kind of pity these people. Maybe if we get Cut Through the arete barrier, we could fit it on the way out?

I need a break. Then I'll be back to the reaction mines.

I suspect if we get Cut Through we'll probably spend a bit developing it initially before going anywhere. And what better way to test it than on the Rotbeast?

Also, amusing bit about Cut Through is that with effort we will be able to imitate Slice Fate anyway. That the exact kind of incredible bullshit Praxis does. It will take time to develop it to that level but...

It's fine to do reactions if you want to or feel like contributing to the thread, but I'm wary of a mass dump of content purely for Arete's sake. It feels...wrong.
Shrug. I have no shame. And it's nice to see people trying.

Why are we voting to investigate the schools when the reward is a magic option if we're trying to save arete? And if we aren't trying to save arete why aren't we buying unlimited rerolls instead?

If there's no effort and they're not interesting or funny and just padded for wordcount I don't think they generate Arete anyway.

...And later she was dissing dogs as inferior pets. Decide your preferences already, Letrizia!

Hey! Unlike dogs, female ponies are not spayed and thus Letrizia would have no reason to consider a mare unethical!

Mm, it's not really a huge problem, after all the Foremost used their Implements for eons without side effects! They've got Implement design down to a science!

If it's a magic system that requires Arete the magic voters will be laughed out of the room.

It gives us another encounter with a magic system to add to the list for Wreath.

And we may find something useful in the process.

Also I'm hoping to delay our return to the temple as much as possible so we can actually be ready for it when we return.

If it's a magic system that requires arete which seems likely since we won't be fighting anything so won't be earning picks then won't we have just wasted the vote? We could be earning a premium vaction here!

Because Conjured Blade gave a shitload of effort and there's no intrinsic reason for it to cost us Arete. If it does, we'll dump it immediately. either us or Letrizia can just learn it the old fashioned way.

And if we aren't trying to save arete why aren't we buying unlimited rerolls instead?

Because Rihaku's said its roughly equivalent to ++All Stats, which is cool, but nowhere near enough to survive the Temple in the way that Cut Through could be.

I have a compelling reason not to do that for another fifteen hours, but will seriously consider it after that time if the option remains open.

Doesn't earning a premium vacation require fighting the Rotbeast? Because a corruption/rot/necromonstrous opponent sounds like a bad choice when Lord Hunger specifically has an excruciating vulnerability to poison.

That should leave an hour or two before vote close, assuming Rihaku doesn't extend it.
[grunts]

We'll see. Did Rihaku specify the duration of the vote and I just didn't notice, or are you basing this on something he said a long time ago?

Just hide behind Versch and throw blade winds at it till it dies and have Gisena blast anything that comes near us with nullity!

We are earning it! We get to watch Letrizia interact with the school kids. It's going to be great!
That's not Gisena! Also I'm pretty sure by the wording we actually get a better vacation for beating the rotbeast than the other options.
