Look, it's impossible. We're never getting this EFB, and choosing it now wastes one of our two picks.
At the rate we've been going, I expect we'll get exactly one 25-pointer before the Temple's over. It will probably be one of Ruling Ring or Cut Through, due to their easier access and pre-commitment appeal. But surviving is hard and winning is harder. Conditions pile up, benefits too good to pass on appear, and our best plans remain those of mice and/or men.

Once and Future will probably end up being over a month in the making. If it's worth waiting for, why not something else? And if magic is something we plan to do, why not have it be something worth using instead of a footnote forced onto us later by salt and sandy underwear?

Your signature is my favorite one so far!

What if its final defender was simply so powerful that no amount of strength accumulated against its lessers would suffice to challenge it, as he himself was to these beasts?

This has been the concern since the layer concept became known, at this point though I think it's more likely that the issue is being dogpiled by peers/moderate superiors who all have complementary abilities than one single badass.

Hopefully, we can dump a million points into Willpower and create a build with a system of incentives that allows for our purpose to be keener though.

Stranglethorn does pair quite well with Uttermost.

I think 4.5 won because these guys are total chumps. 5.25 would have had the enemies present be at least noticeable.

Likely. Well hopefully our mediocre roll on encounter xp is balanced out with better rolls later.

I don't like all this enthusiasm for Cut Through. We've been warned that it's "heavily build dependent," which sounds to me like it would severely restrict our options if we get it. The worst thing would be having an EFB that turns useless if we take the wrong options later down the road, that would force our hands regarding build votes. And I really don't like that.

I'd be much happier with Ruling Ring, but that takes a bit of time for it to pay off, and there's the lingering specter of that "Contest of Primacy," which we still don't know about.

All the other EFBs take significantly more to get. Once and Future is 24 Arete, but that's further away then 18. Stances can be bought incrementally, but have an even higher Arete cost.

I think I'd be much prefer working our way through the stances then getting Cut Through - even if it takes longer, at least we'll get to use the prerequisite stances in the meantime. And I think the EFB stances are much less likely to restrict our build choices.

Please show me how to SORD GUD Rihaku. I considered Super Juggernaut Undead Chimera but had to discard it since it incentivizes getting Zea +'s over Gisena's! Wandering Magus discarded for same reason and defeating all sounds better than just defeating foes.

Where's the Gisena EFB though! Even this random magus gets one but Gisena is denied!? For shame.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know when/how signature Arete is generated? Is it totaled from the day once signed up or the first of the month (some other day)?

Because it's a random magic ability that by your own admission we won't even be getting until waaay later in the future. By the time we are ready to invest in it, we will have gotten the blurb for it naturally, and acquired two-three more cool magic EFB offers besides.

Oh, it's bribery. I thought everyone here just really liked a simple transaction rofl.

It's definitely also that or I don't think anyone would bother selling out but the 0.05 Arete a month helps and could really add up over time with enough people. 0.1 if this thread hasn't become your new quarantine zone.

It's been a while but fffffffuck the magus. Get me out of that foresight and divination scams. That's like, almost as bad as pyramid selling and that shit is saying something

The musing on super escalation of Temple opponents is... worrying.
I want that damn Ring, both for shiny and good deeds.
I am just becoming sure that we'll need an EFB to actually accomplish it.

Speaking of getting our arm back, we've never actually gotten an option to heal our lung. Now that we have a liver wound as baseline to see how that might be affecting us though it'd be nice if we could rustle something up for it.
