Devastatingly disappointed that we locked ourselves out of being a less tyrannical figure before even once reducing how intractable we actually are, but otherwise this isn't actually a break-point for me. Lord knows I took 12 gauge buck shot to the heart far worse and more often in Terrascape, so this is pretty much nothing next to that.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's make sure to be humble winners and gracious losers after votes as contentious as this one. You're all lovely.

I think I'm done with the quest. Hopefully I actually stay gone this time. Stupid unhealthy obsessing.
If you need to step back for your own well-being, obviously that's what you should prioritize. But I don't think anyone here would be happy to see you go, not when you obviously care so much about the protagonist. I've been in your shoes, lost vote after vote until a CT scan of my heart would've shown a single crystal of salt. Build votes, much like vengeance, can consume everything of a man. But at the end of the day we're choosing between positive outcomes, different roads to take in a story, and it would be a shame to let this outcome tarnish your enjoyment of it.

Now that we have a functional weapon suite, maybe we can think about hunting the Voyaging Realm for a while after the Temple. I'd love to get some family bonding time with Gisena & Liz before launching back into work

Heroes, all of you. Perhaps a vote everyone could agree on would be a magic system that gave rank and casted through sword slashes.

NO.

Sword has already won time and time again. They don't need any cut-outs. Magic has literally never had a victory, we deserve a magic system that has NOTHING TO DO WITH FUCKING SWORDS.

...Sorry, I'm unreasonably angry right now. I used to like swords, you know. I even own a knock-off one.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to break it. Or maybe just throw it out. I utterly despise swords right now.

Ugh, no thank you. I would so very desperately like to have this group spend time among other people that aren't assholes that torture magical artifacts or avaricious adventurers. Let's go eat half a roasted auroch while relaxing with Letrizia and Gisena and breath for awhile afterwards.

Counterpoint: thread animosity generates Arete, which makes Hunger stronger and increases engagement. The key is to ride the local maximum of thread engagement which keeps users in but keeps them unhappy by making stellar vote options that differ heavily in aesthetic and cater to different levels of risk appetite, causing the audience to feel invested in their own version of Hunger as well as feel the urgency to keep Hunger alive/scaling/badass. That sounds like an awfully Tyrannical thing to do. Are we sure the Tyrant isn't actually Rihaku?

All of our abilities hint that the Forebear's Blade is in fact a blade, and as we know not all Blades need to be swords.

We can potentially get a vote that turns it into a Axe! Or even a Spear if we're feeling explorative.

What if the First Blade is the literal First Blade and we're just left with a big rock originally used by Grok to hunt animals

I know you're being facetious, but some people have legitimate hurt feelings right now. Byzantine might have just ragequit. Let's not joke about keeping people involved but miserable just yet. I'd rather we mend fences and work together as a whole towards the next build vote and Arete generation.

My bad, that was insensitive of me.

God, fuck the First Sword. That was such a shit pick in Terrascape, and it wasn't even a useful one since Arthur didn't even put in the effort to murder Foxglove over it and he discarded it to be a dragon later anyway.

Isn't that exactly what they were saying we should do?
Soooooort of. They want to do some freelance adventuring. I want a Hot Springs episode.

It isn't about losing the vote. It's about how I'm reacting to all of it. Losing the vote just makes me realize how pointless the swirl of unpleasant emotions I've been dealing with for the quest is.

Oh my god. It was all a lie, it was a lie all along. It's like finding out that Santa isn't real, or that the U.S. government props up foreign military dictatorships and doesn't actually care about democracy!

SORD...BAD??

Well, in case anyone was wondering, the shitty knock-off sword is safe. Because I can't find the darn thing, and now my anger has burned down and I'm just sad instead. No point in destroying inanimate objects.

...Honestly, it's not the losing that's getting me angry. It's the feeling that everything I do here is all for nothing. First Mage Lord and Fisher King, and now this. It feels like very time I really get worked up, give my all and make sacrifices of time and effort, it fails to get me what I want. That's far more disheartening then simply losing a vote is.

Men we must break free from this endless cycle of Build vote conflict and unite under one banner!

All hail Oddly Versatile Magic Sword!

In before we get a build vote not relating to it.

I'm kind of thankful I was called to vote this time because that made me experience a strange detachment of the voting options. Otherwise, I'd be salty already that we were forced to choose between Unerring an Uttermost. I should cultivate this felling more.

Alas, poor Rage-chan. It seems you could not escape your Bad End. Forever relegated to the sidelines, to be forgotten and discarded at the earliest convenience. Isn't it sad, Rage-chan?

SORD IS SORD.

SORD NOT GUD. SORD NOT BAD.

SORD JUST SORD.

SORD, EVEN IF IT IS NOT SORD.

Memery aside, the vote was well fought. Not all sides won, and even victory might taste like ash. In a more optimistic silver lining focused sort of view, just think of this as more experience to pile up whenever one has to deal with things not going their way.

Threads like these, though heavy in investment, are still objectively low-cost expenditures for the kind of experience to help one deal with future complications.

Rage-chan was worst girl! Her demise has freed up everyone to spend more effort on actual best girl, magical girl Gisena-chan!

Definitely take care of yourself, hun. If you need a break from the thread, then by all means step away for awhile and come back if and when you feel like you're in a better headspace.

If you'd like, you could ask Orm to threadban you to give yourself a vacation from the thread? I know some people have found that to be cathartic before.

ngl tho, I will at least curse everything in the fucking world at least once if my boss doesn't call me about promotions since R A N K lost

Man, it was easier to detach yourself back in EFB. This quest does just... gets to you tbh.

Maybe it is because Hunger is not such a spoiled cocky little gremlin as Nameless Yong, I dunno.
