We haven't outscaled the universe - we can't, thanks to the Apocryphal - but the passive does make the odds of having to fight, say, Full-Power Fervenweirr are much lower. And a scale-agnostic, Apocryphal-level passive attack is going to be really useful going in to the future.
Its special ability only applies to those it directly challenges, and even then the Apocryphal Curse is not only inconsistent but we also suffer from it already, meaning I don't think we'd get to dodge bad situations as easily as you imply. Even better to be stronger and substantially reduce the amount of bad situations we face.

I'm a little distracted irl, but this sure was a satisfying update. I remember making a point about how Adorie couldn't bring her research materials to the ROE for research, but thanks to the Lesser Wish we still got to recover some of her library. I am very happy to be proven wrong about that! (Rescuing books is always good, imo, and the two lesser wishes manifesting power through books is a delightful bonus.)

I'm open to arguments & vote marker trades later in the update cycle. It would be nice to get some indirect Apo mitigation from Interesting Times, or some indirect Apo mitigation by opening up diplomacy with Dr. Apocalypse. There could be major benefits from learning more about how Apo works by seeing it in action against people that aren't us. My first instinct is that Dog of War gives Aeira, Adorie, & Aobaru a safe place to chill out during serious fights. Between Hunger, Versch, and DoW we can implement much more complex battlefield tactics.

In my mind, Dog of War + Twofold Refinement of Battle puts at such a massive power level that we will close to being able to, basically, speedrun the initial conquest of the Human Sphere, which I think will shorten the time that Apocryphal has to escalate for this task. Plus, the faster we conquer, the more of the conquest and post-conquest we get to see before the epilogues.

Oh yeah! Also, a memory from the original Armory of Night votes: having the Apocryphal Armament opens up the possibility for Armament Research, which I'm sure Gisena will be very interested in.

My qualm with Dog of War is that simply 'being stronger' isn't enough for the same reason that Hunger being that strong normally wouldn't be enough.
Or rather it would promise tons of safety in the short term, sure, but eventually Apocryphal chan would scale up. Being able to solo the Dog of War isn't out of the question given enough Pillars of Evening procs. Probably.

In that sense I'd much rather turn that forever scaling against our enemies instead of trying to just face tank it. If the Terminator scales just as hard as we do, I would much rather fight him with Terminal's Ultimate than Dog's raw stats.

One thing to note is that if the enemy apocryphal procs work like ours they take time to charge up. It's not as simple as engage in battle bad things happen. That doesn't happen in a full apocryphal curse, why would it happen in a significantly mitigated one? Comparing it to artful thorn for example is apples to oranges, they're completely different tools.

Rank 11 vs. Rank 9.5 is more than 'overwhelming' advantage so lack of piloting skill wouldn't matter as much. (Adorie or Aeira or Aobaru could hop in the DoW & then Nilfel would be able to field 3 combatants at Rank 10+. DoW means that even when Hunger is not piloting the robot, it is a battlefield-defining combatant. When Hunger is piloting the Robot, RoB kicks in and takes it even further beyond.

On the other hand, using Interesting Times to facilitate Curse Research is the kind of proactive write-in that I'm hoping will become viable once we're in the ruling portion of the task. Same with the other option: I'd love to get RW Gisena into the same room as Dr. Apo

We can just use Supreme Enclosure to feed Vershe so that hopefully wont be much of an issue.

I'm also hoping that 6th and 7th Sign will be actual Signs, even if we are forced to get Night ones. Signs are fun and if we go by Adorie's theory, one of them should provide us with sensory or divinatory abilities.

Hunger, leaving the Realm of Evening: almost completely healed, strong enough to fight an armament on his own, with an ally who can nearly do the same and a whole party of friends who are verging on armament-relevant, and also an Ultra Armament that can totally beat up your armament, even when it's using its ultimate!
Human Sphere: How are you so strong to defeat multiple armaments, when 24 hours ago you basically almost died vs one.
Hunger: I trained whole day yesterday

On Discord, Wolfy asked 'do we have abilities that especially synergize with Armaments'. My response:

Exavolt would have let Letrizia cast combat-relevant spells from within the shroud, so we know spells can be cast while piloting. Maybe Edeldross would apply to Armament stats?

The other stuff we can cast should be compatible as well:
- Deathly Star: Yes, probably
- Ringcasting: Yes, probably
- Artful Thorn / RoQuickness: Only if the robot has a sword to draw the runes
- Would Ruin scale to the Armament's STR stat?

I'm speculating that one of the 2 new Signs would involve an information gathering power because that is crucial in waging war after all.

It wasn't even a day, the Realm of Evening is atemporal, so from a certain perspective, it didn't even take a single second.

Information falls under the third sign.

Third allows for the summoning of reinforcements, or the pursuit of unconventional doctrines.

Spying, subterfuge, recon, etc. That all falls under unconventional tactics. Information gathering is literally what we used it for when we were fighting Augustine. If I had to guess the next signs would be based on things like conquering or suppression. Seeing as how there power escalates with each level, wide ranging abilities like those make the most sense.

You're telling me that a power system with a theme of warfare doesn't have a dedicated information gathering power? That only sometimes it provides knowledge of what the enemy is doing and the rest of the time it leaves its user to guessing what the opponent is planning?

[X] Terminal Advent

The update is called Prelude to Apocalypse. I don't think it's that unlikely that Dr. Apocalypse is coming, and if he comes I really, really want him and Hunger to be Pals and hang out so we can see more of him since I find him very awesome.

On top of that, it's a power that will always be relevant and can't be outscaled.

Hey, hold on. Wasn't there this whole thing where people were worried about Apocryphal proccing and giving an enemy Ring Lord Ruling Ring? Doesn't that mean that negative Apocryphal procs affecting our enemies could take the form of, I don't know, getting low-end Enhancements ourselves? I mean, I'm not expecting Apocryphal to buy Ruling Ring for us, but something more in line with 7 Arete could be doable.

On that note.

Pretty undecided between Dog of War and Terminal Advent after looking at the chapter title again, tbh. Maybe it's completely innocuous and 'Apocalypse' means the Armament in this case, but we had been warned that Apo-chan will take advantage of our temporary 'weakness', such as it is. So immediately having a Rank 11 Armament on hand would be quite reassuring.

On the other hand, what if Apocalypse is a reference to the venerable Dr? He's even mentioned in one of the options...

This makes our build pretty weird tho. Like, getting Echoes will do nothing for a while and so on. Provided we don't just let Gisena or Aeria pilot it, anyway.

Still, in the case we decide to be the pilot, we need to consider the following:
  • Can we use Praxis while within the Armament?
    • Presumably yes since Praxis books could be found within
    • Likely needs Armament relevant sword to use our Praxis
    • Do we gain more Praxis casting pool from Armament
  • How do our Ranks interact?
    • Do we use our or Armament Rank as base? If we use Armament, does it works with our Rank buffs or is it more like Adorie buff? In that case, does it work with Companions?
    • Can we use Armament Rank to cast our Signs? This would be especially important for Armor of Midnight(for reduced cost) and Enclosure
    • If we eclipse Armament in Rank, do we get to use our Rank for military matters and such
  • Can we use Armaments Str for Ruin?
    • If we do, does it gain 250% damage buff from Winter? What about our Str buffs? I'm assuming those don't work for Armament
    • Does Armament makes our Str redundant, or do they stack in some way?
    • Can we use our Blood and Edeldross buffs on Armament? 60% to Stats would be very relevant
All of those are pretty important to consider when planning future of our build - provided we don't just let Aeria pilot it, at any rate.
