Man, how the hell does Hunger's brain stay inside his skull, that's the real magic right there. He might be the most skilled guy we've ever had quest-wise, what the fuck. This fight was rad as shit.

So, did anyone else notice we kinda did all three of the vote options? We went for the alpha strike a la His Shroud was Down, then we tried to pull Seize the Day, and finally, while we didn't shatter the Forebear's Blade, we did crack it.

Though, that silver light bleeding from the Forebear's Blade doesn't seem like a good sign... Probably the price for replicating Vanreir's strike at Procyon.
I think Vanreir's strike was only cherry on top of the Praxis exertion cake.
I wonder what kind of condition it will be. A diminishment to OaF and other Forebear-centric upgrades? Just a massive debuff to our physicality and will? Something worse?
Well, at least Apocryphal doesn't have an Armament anymore... wait, was it just one or were there 2? Not that I am worried- 5 picks and 40 Arete is enough to punch second Procyon in the face without much problem.

Though one thing is for certain- Hunger needs rest. No more surfing the waves of Styx, everyone!

I think it was more like Hunger cycled through ideas until one of them stuck.

Hunger turned blearily to regard her. "Two reasons. First, he was prideful and thought he had won, that there was nothing I could do to defy him. And second, he had a crush on you."

"W-what!? H-how would you- But he never said any-"

"The Plenary Brand broadcasts one's intentions for all the world to see. He never had any intention of letting you die, or even of coming to harm. Not so for the rest of us."
Well, I feel kind of bad about that, now.

Is Procyon slain for good? Or merely defeated and needing major repairs? And is the pilot in resurrectable condition, or is he super-duper turbo-dead?

Possibly a problem or crack in Uttermost? Which is a Defining Advancement to boot. And the pre-requisite to the first Blade EFB we got, Cut Through, which got us the Praxis. We also overdrew on the Praxis a lot in this fight.

So my guess is... probably Uttermost and Praxis related problems. Maybe no Praxis access, and some existential confusion due to a Defining Advancement being... cracked or leaking or something.

It really is too bad that we don't have an Astral Film Crew to follow us around and broadcast our bullshit. Seeing 'literally just a guy with a sword' kill their First Armament would probably set the Republic on edge.
Just buy the incoming Plenary Brand adancement that these picks will surely offer.

( ) Victory's Standard (Conjuctional: Haliel's Favor, Forebear's Blade)

Your victories are writ large, oh king, large indeed. All who know your name quiver at the thought of facing you, and this fear and awe races outward at speed which eclipses reason-the same as your blade.

Apply your rank for purposes of propaganda and social combat to all who know of your deeds. Every new achievement propagates the range of this effect across greater distances in proportion with the difficulty of your Heroic encounters.

Can we.....can we lay down like Hunger is doing?

Please?

Genuinely this was final season anime level in execution.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

But of course...Age, and Treachery in equal measure.

Truly Hunger proves he was and is a hero a cut above the rest. He wouldn't be a curse bearer with the potential to really go places otherwise.

I hope we didn't get any permanent injuries we have to dispel. That would suck.

However, Hunger really pulled this one straight out of the fire so I'll save any large complaints for a status screen.

We didn't die guys.
We. Did. Not. die.

Makes sense that transfinite might can smash Armor of Midnight. Still, absolutely clutch and worth it. Hunger never would have made it all eight rounds without it!

Blocking for the walls was also pretty amazing. Shame that all our armies were too scrub-speed to witness it.

Procyon: "punch-"
Hunger: "A G E"
Procyon: "b-bu- but p-pu-"
Hunger: "T R E A C H E R Y"
Procyon: [dead]
Hunger: "stay away from my daughter"

Let's hope he's dead for good. He's a Letrizia stan and that's unacceptable. Imagine being such a simp that you use your status as a WMD-pilot to break down a literal fucking wall to get to your favorite e-girl.

I'm of the opinion that this was absolutely awesome, and we should never, ever do it again. Like, ever.

It's totally possible that Aab's wish was required to give us the outcome of a Nat 100 in order to survive this update. If that's true, I hope we all heap praise on him because this was amazing.

However, I prefer to believe that each consecutive strategy tried by Hunger was the result of a different re-roll being used up. First the Alpha strike, which didn't quite work, and then the negotiation, etc. It would be a neat way to incorporate the meta-resource into the narrative framework. (It would also introduce a wrinkle where having multiple re-rolls is considerably more valuable than having individual rerolls...)

I am sure we'll find out once the mechanics & build vote are released!

It's Rihaku, so probably a combination? I imagine we're going to have to choose between taking REALLY punishing temporary conditions (and risk getting killed by the NEXT Apocryphal proc) or giving up some of our Rank or Advancements.

On the bright side Pillars is only a day and change away. Any conditions or lost advancements can be healed as long as we use Pillars properly. There's no good time to get crippled but right now is the best bad time.

As promised a month ago, I'm on team COMFY for our time in Pillars. We should be eating peaches, teaching Aobaru how to play chess, and writing letters to our new penpal Haeliel.

The most important thing about this update though - can you imagine how proud Haeliel is right now? are we gonna be tough enough for headpats when next we meet, or will we have to settle for praise from onee-chan?

There's no way she's disappointed, right?

I don't think it's possible to earn Haeliel points by disappointing her, I'd say we probably did her proud.

She already gave Hunger a very light head-pat the first time! And yet you still demand more?!

Well, she probably isn't disappointed in our level of accomplishments in combat, but the Haeliel points gotten from standing our ground were explicitely stated to not indicate Haeliel's approval of the decision, so she might be disappointed in our decision-making skills.

Aaaanyway...this is a good time to bring up that 'tell the cursebearers association about Pillars so any Cursebearers with sufficiently mitigated Geas, or without Geas, of levels considerably lower then that of Haeliel, can pop by and take advantage of that' thing I suggested earlier. Not even for payment necessarily (though anything the other cursebearers can give us will probably be pretty helpful), just because. well. the association is about helping one another, and we can do this, so we should. even a combat class cursebearer might like to drop by, since it has some pretty decent Mitigation when you're in it.

I said I would go back to work, and i promise that I will soon...

but instead I reread the update. Technically, the Walls are only damaged and "thinning" but not necessarily destroyed wholesale. Procyon never actually pierced them, and they were still stable enough for Adorie to be standing on top of them.

Also: Adorie tried to use her bloodline to stem the bleeding from the Forebear's Blade. If that doesn't validate our investment in Nilfel, I don't know what will. She's a good friend.

My favorite part was her literally ripping off bits of her dress to try bind the sword pouring out cosmic essence. It's like fixing a hole in the TARDIS with a bunch of duct tape.

The soldiers of Nilfel must be awfully confused, one moment there is a giant mecha banging on the gates & everyone's chanting death and glory, then they blink as the wall rumbles, and it's just gone. Hungers gone, Adories gone... I wonder what conclusions our genius came up with in the moments after.
