Those two curses are going to fuck us up still. Pretty badly, too. Main point was increasing AHS duration and frequency of procs, not harming everyone slightly less when and id we fail to proc ASH.
Speaking of, do we know the duration of our current AHS buff? The pirate granted one month of respite, which is the benchmark we've been using, but as the absence of Quelling illustrates there are risks to assuming that one proc is representative of all instances of Satiation.

Tower and Whiteout might be worth losing Versch entirely. It's not certain - Attramemnar might not be so good a replacement - but even fully-healed Versch is only barely stronger than our current state. Most of what I'd regret is losing his personality, and he does eat people, so I could probably get over that.
Certainly no they aren't.
Tower doesn't contend against nothing, we could have gotten another EFB if we wanted to with that Arete. Another EFB and a day less for Lord Protector to strike at us. And even if Versh remained hurt he's vastly more valuable for the social and political capital of his rescue from the voyaging realm. If killing the unclaimed armament was a tragedy, then even more so is letting an already friendly and established within social structure perish.

But hm, if the Arcanist really is the proverbial wizard responsible for this mess then that raises the question of motivation. The Mirellyian dynasty's bloodline makes some sense as a life support system, with worship of their Spirit indirectly sustaining Arulothel and by extension the Shard. Are the various Patron Spirits just different Shards, the result of whatever chisel was taken to the Builder herself? Claumgnor is said to be male, but the 'Lord of Smoke and Toil' loosely fits as a Builder fragment, a chip off the old block. The Lord Protector's sudden rise to power and the magics he commands make more sense if he's an investment of the Arcanist, but this theory's pretty threadbare, with a lot of speculation and guesswork. If only we'd spent more time interrogating Adorie about magic and less hashing out trade agreements.

If it really is the Shard, we're going to regret lacking Iridescence. One thing's for sure: we need more Arete.

This is my current votecount. Beasts is still completely unanimous, which I guess means you like my chances, and absolutely no-one's picked Onslaught, which is probably a good call. I probably shouldn't have put these in a set chronological order.
Anyway, Fourteenth Apocalypse looks like it might have a chance of catching up, so I'm going to keep this open for at least a little longer. SI-me isn't looking forward to fighting the Nine without prep or Cleanroom.

Can we diplomacy the legion to turn against Lord Protector?

I think the legion is stronger than Lord Protector and pre-tower Hunger.

Use treachery to end Lord Protecter rule by turn his minion against him.The fitting end for Tyrant.

@Rihaku considering Paxis is built on a foundation of the deepest and most fundamental laws of reality the Accursed is aware of, has it been expanded out to a complete self-consistent physics set? As in, can/do you have entire universes which run on Praxis-OS, not as a technique or style but simply as the fundamental way things work?

The metaphor that comes to mind is the "deepest layer" as soil and the layers above that as a tree, branching out into multiverses with different physics variants. Is Praxis an entire separate tree, or is it "just" a vine that coils across the tree and requires the tree to keep from collapsing to the ground?

And if its a separate tree are Praxis users from the/a non-Praxis tree closer to (ignoring order of magnitude for size)
  • having a twig from the Praxis tree cut off and grafted onto their portion of the/a non-Praxis tree?
  • points where the two trees merge together, existing in both trees?
  • transplanted to the Praxis tree and projecting back to their original Tree?
  • just getting nourished by the Praxis tree dripping sap on them?
  • Multiple of the above depending on whether they are using Noble, Royal, or Imperial Praxis?

We currently have much better than average odds against a Nilfellian Legion, given that Tears + Tower was the only option in Who Dares Win with worse odds, implying that OaF + Tower has better odds. Logically speaking, Tower + ADS + OaF + Tears + Overwhelm + Whiteout should be far enough past a Nilfellian Legion that our odds are overwhelming, excepting tactics from LP, of course.

Last-minute tweak to replace Guardian Angel with Devil's Toolbox for an easier start. Since you're teaming up with a Tinker vs. the Nine anyway, this could be synergistic. Persuasion-wise, killing the Nine is a cause I can see some Tinkers being willing to donate gear toward, and if you claim the bounties you'll be in a position to pay them back.

Hm, now that we've bought ADS, we have two Stance slots open. HDS is good for defeating foes with higher Rank, MoDS for Might- what are the other two? It can't be Machine-Defeating for anti-Wits, there are already too many M-words. Maybe Genius-Defeating? For when you're taking the role of the Monster, Fly-Swatting Stance cripples Agi!

If there's a Spirit-Defeating Stance, that would be especially handy right about now.

Divinity-Defeating Stance seems like a strong candidate, given the contents of the flashback. I wonder what hoops we have to jump through to get Foe-Defeating active alongside All-Defeating?

You know what would have really helped in this situation? Refinement of Place. We warp to the LP and kill him and then warp to Versch and save him. Unfortunately now isn't quite the best time for Praxis training. Try to aim for a teleportation type summon maybe?

Would the Forebear really need two stances active, though?
He did grab ADS immediately rather than piecemeal, didn't he? But he also called SitS a Stance, so he did have two possible stances... wait. That makes three, with FDS. All-Foe-Defeating-Sword Stance? If there's a BEFB Stance, what would be the fourth component? If SitS could be described as All-Benefiting Stance, Companions would fit the pattern as the Friend-Benefiting Stance. All-Foe Defeating, All-Friend Defending.

They all combine to form the Self-Defeating Stance, but in the cool Buddhist (for example) way rather than the thing we meme about.

This drops Angel to 5 and boosts Toolbox to 3. SI-me is now even leerier of fighting the Simurgh without Guardian Angel. Well, he could probably manage.
You do seem to like Go Further, don't you? And maybe-eventually working with Cauldron. Well, the vote isn't called until I start writing tomorrow, but if anyone else wants to vote or re-vote, please tag me.

What the actual fuck did we come back too.

Anyway, changing my vote to this.

You know what really stings here? Stealing your opponents superweapon and using it against them is supposed to be Hunger's sticht.

We really need to dab on this guy before he puts our Big Boi to use or else our reputation may never recover! :p
