A Simple Transaction I

El Stats may be basic, but it builds on what Hunger has acquired so far, and we've been told that there are upgrades gated behind Undying Echo. Getting holistic improvements through sleeping's so good I'm surprised the option's getting slept on! The sooner we take Slumber, the better; it's not like social interaction doesn't benefit from the well-rested bonus too, it's effectively an intellect buff if we regularly catch our z's. We can bank sleep on this trip (there's still a ways to go, half a week out of two months isn't much) to make the most of our time once we reach civilization. And of course it doesn't bankrupt us, we walk away with at least 2 Arete.

Though honestly, these are all fun builds. The name alone makes it hard to argue against the Lord Reaper. Even Conclusion is an understandable choice, admirable for the altruism it represents, though the risks it assumes are tremendous. Especially in conjunction with A King.

Worth noting, Star Cloaked Shroud is a limited time option, while everything within El Stats should be available again next time we trigger Hunger. As such, there is little issue in delaying it the week or two, maybe a month that we'll probably have before the next big fight. Not like we have to worry about things being peaceful or easy for too long, the Apocryphal Curse ensures that.

Interesting! Substantially is so far behind when you guys are all taking 7 cost Arete options! Do you just automatically jump on any shiny that's presented?!

Ambushes, faster opponents, multiple opponents, any enemy or scenario with a stealth focus, simple natural disaster, all of these can absolutely fuck over as offensively focused a build as Lord Reaper. Offense does jack shit if you never get a chance to use it after all.

The great thing about Lord Reaper is that thousand cuts is seven times faster as well as seven times stronger so it works against most things.

If we aren't taking the Conclusion why don't we take the El Stats? We don't get the Exhaustion debuff at the first place thanks to the excess Arete, save 2 Arete for the future, we already have better stats than before and we will get the sweet slumber stats from now on.
 
If we just yolo every vote, we will die sooner or later, and probably sooner. Remember we're already hurt, in an extremely dangerous environment and the Apocryphal Curse is no joke. Let's take a more reasonable approach and try to maximize our survivability.

I'll note that Lord Reaper does invest in Echo of the Forebear, so its not quite a glass cannon build... it has better physical stats than you do now, and the corrosive effect per hit is similar to a Strength increase - and often superior - even without considering its extremely powerful active ability.
