A Realm Divided - A ASOIAF Nation Game

I had a blast running this I really did. And I do hope to enjoy more games with you guys. I just think GoT is a hard sell for a game in the later points of the timeline. Maybe something in a earlier timeline would cause less drama like at the conquest or something.

Its not the setting its us, we fucked up. Hopefully some time in the future we'll have a fresh start with a lot better self control.

Its always after a major conflict that a game dies. Both sides invest a lot into the game but when one side wins one side loses all interests and often causes drama that brings down the game afterwards.

So what is needed in the future are players who can understand that they lost and move on.

Indeed - or have the good sense to make peace when their goodies aren't all dashed to pieces.

gods damn it. *spent hours planning for stuff/ignoring essays for things to be torpedoed by salt*.

This game was fantastic and it was ruined by the people playing it.

What the Mod was going for by the end just came too late and was too softly enforced I think. We obviously can't be trusted so from now on I think we shouldn't be.

My ideas for a new set of rules is:

* The OOC thread is for asking the mod stuff, talking about in game actions and making queries of other players relating to the details of things done.
* All planning and plotting must be done in the IC thread. PMs need to have the mod involved but are for war and espionage plans only. Diplomacy happens semi publicly.
* Characters are established at game start or are evolved over time. They act consistently and no sudden about faces.
* Causing drama, insulting other players, complaining bitterly and side tracking discussions and bringing the game to a screeching halt will result in the Mod telling you to stop and if you continue kicking you from the game.
* A day cool down period between a report coming out and people appealing it/asking for details/arguing OOC. Basically an extension of the previous policy of waiting a day before complaining.

This is just how I will run any future game I have but I think its generally applicable.

While most of that sounds fine, I admit I don't know if I like that point. I don't trust most to fully OOC/IC seperate. I don't even trust myself to, not fully.

I fully support this.

So. I don't want to stop doing GoT. So I have a proposal.

I had an idea of a pre-conquest game where the Targaryens go east instead of west and the Seven Kingdoms are just that. Seven Kingdoms. It would give a lot of options and i think could be great fun, would you guys be up for that. Move onto something new and exciting IMO.

Definitely in.

And I want my Lannisters back. My beloved Lions. I am never letting anyone else touch you again.

I understand and if it proves unworkable we can relax it but I for one think it will reduce the stress if everyone knows what everyone is doing and people just have to make sure that when they negotiate they make a deal that the other player will keep.

Even in ASOIAF the various betrayals take a long time to build up. There are very few cases where its a complete shot from the dark.

I actually really like the idea of everyone having information, I think it would help end a lot of the confusion we had in this.

I admit, I am biased, because I have participated in games where the backstabbing was in full swing with secret pacts all around, but people who lost, well they -lost- and didn't actually complain, so for me its a bit weird that people were so... ...angry at the end of it all.

Also, as for new game, you're an amazing GM, but quite frankly I was incredibly looking forward to the future of this game post war, with plans for (especially the stuff, y'know, MGWPANM) and my economics plans. I'm also busy with studies until after christmas, so if its run right now, I don't think I could really focus on it, i was already sucking up time with this, because I found this so fascinating.

Honestly, I'm just sad, because most of those trying to pour a downer ending into things had quit, or were about to quit. Sigh.

House Gardener has always been been one of my favorites Houses.

Well just think, you could get a very early start lol

But studies come first!

What early start? In this, I'd achieved a number excellent things, publicly and otherwise, was essentially part of the royal family and had expanded my territory by a decent bit.

I honestly can't find myself to -care- Skre, I had pages worth of plans and even more in my head cause this game was awesome and i got a lot of thinking done.

And with this, I'd be able to continue at a reduced pace until new years, where as with a new game, with the first 2 weeks you have to invest super hardcore or you die (in GoT).

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr we could just continue with this game I've just invested a bunch of energy getting back into :V
I happen to agree. That the last vestiges of people who really hate Mortis keep trying to torpedo the game, should, frankly, not be our concern.

This game is too tainted for me to continue with it. It caused some horrendous wounds and attacks to happen that almost made me want to quit the site for good. So I would rather start completely fresh and in a new era that could see A LOT of world building.

Guys I love this game, I have ideas for it.

But no one can say it was not incredibly, stressful to play and it must have been worse for the Mod. Modding sucks, we have a good one here who is willing to give his free time and energy. If he can't handle doing this particular game because of the mountains of salt involved we need to accomodate him not the other way around.

I'm sure we can work out a way of keeping you in the game during the early phases until your work is done. Maybe I could co run your faction or something if we made a marriage alliance?

Note: The above means, that so -what- if we can't fit in all the LP's as players? Like, seriously, most games on this site (and over on old SB) had strict 6-8 player caps, so I never understand the fascination with the crazy numbers most of these games posess.

There is always going to be salt. Especially when you have the same cast.
Honestly part of that is because people in this subforum are very good at making things Opaque for newcomers. I had a reasonable idea of what I was getting into, because hyperbackstab night of the long knives games are something I've been in over the years, but it scares people away a lot. I've seen friends go 'never again' after trying something here, despite the fact they are better at grand strategy stuff than me.

Well I put up what I am willing to do. I like being able to have people just relax and have fun and I think this could be fun in that people can mold the Kingdoms in the way they want.

Well, duh. Most of the other players were your blood enemies or something (at least, thats how it feels lol). Now they're gone, or about to leave due to the dawning realisation they lost.

As for that, honestly, why should I -care-? Like, with this, I got to see Elia live in a healthy/loving relationship with her husband who she occasionally [redacted] as well as slapping him upside head whenever he starts prophecy stuff too much.

I got to see Doran avoid being a bitter chair bound man, slowly rotting from within. I saw a knight of mine save my army by being a cavalry expert.

I got (through tragedy) the impetus for Arienne to become a far better person. I saw Oberyn give his life in a meaningful way, that in long term, meant that his sacrafice -meant- something.

What should I care for some no-name Gardener, Stark, Martell that we only know the houses existed?
