A Play of Blood and Shot (ASOIAF NG)

Aethan has shown zero minus zero care or worry for Rhaenyra which makes me think you tend to only care and feel affection for the characters seemingly valuable to me, insome kind of odd tug of war.

Also Aethan is a bit of a shit father in how he wants his children to love him unwaveringly and unconditionally before he can love them in return.
You do realize Aethan was a piece of shit from day one right?

Wade made it very clear Aethan was kind-of an egotistical asshole. Like Corax only without the beatings.

I mean.... Rhaenyra doesn't seem to want or do anything. Would she give Aethan the time of day even?

Also, he's still here, trying to take care of the kid who's apparently terrified of him and the one who beat the shit out of his brother for no clear reason.

Of course, except Theravis seems to feel like he's (Aethan) some bleeding saint in all this.

Probably not, no. So he gives up on her?

Joffrey-analogue cruel to Tommen-analogue bc cruel and sadistic. Bc he can.

He's trying to improve, which is about the best anyone can hope for. He's still a pretty shit person.

Vel, it has less to do with Aethan and more to do with me not wanting to write any more "Aethan tries to be a good person, gets spat on, tries anyway because 'oh he's giving up on them so easy'". If you've already decided they aren't going to reconcile, why should I waste my time?

Indeed.

And well, being a dad.. Especially trying to make up for the past as a dad... is an end in and of itself.
Also the Seadragons were fairly open to him and he said literally all the dumbest shit nixing the reconciliation. Not my predetermined choice at all.

They were open to him if he went home and killed Chaso for them.

It's funny, the kid raised effectively by cold, unforgiving nobles, is kinda a nicer person than the Targaryen Dysfunction Group [I refuse to call it a family at this point.]

Largely by your author fiat, if we're being honest. In that brief shining moment before I was kicked as Essos Mod I did not have the child born to two strange, somewhat stunted teenagers on the run, forcibly seized and parted from them, and imprisoned by nefarious and inhuman others to serve as a living dagger pressed to his mothers throat.. down as a happy or stable child who giddily wrote in the air and generally breezed through life as an imprisoned apprentice warlock.

I said Kinda. I fully plan for him to start calmly backstabbing former friends in the realm of politics, because no hard feelings, he's just doing it for his people, you know?

He might be nice, and a pretty good person, but that doesn't mean he won't castrate someone for betraying him.

Edit: It explains a lot about Vel that he hugs this post.

I think it'd be more authentic if you acknowledged he has significant trauma and worked that into the fabric of who he is growing up.

Also Dorne has a Valyrian steel armour too.

THEY WHAT NOW?!?
acknowledged he has significant trauma and worked that into the fabric of who he is growing up.
I have had one RP session, and two flavor posts to deal with any of that.

One of those flavor posts already had him traumatic flashbacking to a slave being whipped with a red-hot chain, so, well, I think I'm getting on the right path.

That list is weapons, not armour.

And no, I don't believe I ever named it.

The Targaryens also have a Valyrian steel breastplate (can't remember if just breastplate or entire upper body of armour) which they blew up with wildfire. They also have 2 Valyrian steel arrows and a Valyrian steel ball.

Wherever she is, Yolanda (?) Royce has got to count herself the luckiest woman alive in the Seven Kingdoms.

"Are you sure this is a good idea? We're giving away Valyrian Steel!"

"But it would be a totally sick burn in the name of the Black Goat."

"Fair enough."

I can on,y imagine him trying to squish it in his eye socket and it just not fitting right.
To be fair to Maelys, he was born hideous looking thanks to the Taint and it got worse after nearly being assassinated (although we lost Ser Owen the Greatheart) which cause him to lose an arm, and then got some wildfire grenades detonated in his face at Dorne, which if it wasn't for said VS Brest plate armour would have killed him. It finally took a Faceless Man to off him. Maelys was just hard to kill and when giving something that could have potentially covered that missing eye he went for it. It failed but now they have it.
