Jk Rowling interviews and Twitter where she compares him to Draco but without the redemption arc. That he willing followed Voldemort and dueled Harry.
I think he should get a pass in this one instance if only because we have no clue which memories the Dementors used against him. Nott was clearly knocked out from some heavy stuff.

Or we could just, ya know, not judge someone for things our character is unaware of. I feel that would sidestep this whole issue neatly if Jacob just minded his own business like he usually does.

Glad to see this again. Now to reread the entire thing.

Edit: Also, lets hold off on judging Nott while we don't really know him that well. He is also still in his formative years. People can change.

Huh, i was rereading the story and came up with a mechanics question: Since arithimancy and magic theory have been joined toghether as a single skill, does it mean that every 5 months it lvls up twice? I mean, while taken at face value it might mean something troublesome/op because we would reach 20 with it with only passive gains, the mitigating factor of needing all the other requirements to have it rank up would make an interesting challenge, since we would need at least all base stats 10, int 15, and twelve skills at 15. It actually makes sense in both IC ways since he is a ravenclaw who pretty much loves magic and OOC as an interesting objective.

With a quick look, if we were to raise all school subjects (other than magic theory, obviously) 5 times we would manage to reach 9/12 of the requirements, considering that we are pretty much going to raise occlumency as soon as we can it goes to 10/12, leaving 2 subjects left. With the inheritance diary helping with magic creatures, we would only need one more, most likely either alchemy/divination/healing. Huh, the greatest bottleneck is actually the stats...

The first is disturbing since she may make a comeback and Jacob will be the focus of it. The only girl I want in Jacob life is Luna.

As for Nott he is a pureblood supremacist so him being a pet rabbit would be a improvement for the world.
At fourteen, having been indoctrinated in the supremist aspect of wizarding culture from birth.

There are good reasons for why we consider people at that age to have diminished responsibility.

I'm not advocating for any type of 'saving' or any sort of interaction in the future between Nott and the MC, just that I think that there is importance to categorise people at that age as "is (tragically) likely going to be a supremacist as an adult" rather than "is going to be a supremacist as an adult"

You're all wrong, He's currently a fluffy widdle bunny.

Also, this. Nott is not a teen who has been passively taught bigoted and supremacist perspectives from birth.

Nott is a cute bun-bun and we should get him carrots and also healthier rabbit foods. :)

No. This is a bad reason. "I suffered too" is not ever an excuse. A reason perhaps, but not an excuse. He gets a 'pass' due to youth, the possibility for change, and the fact that we don't actually know how the QM is writing this character. A person suffering does not justify them causing harm to others. It is forgivable, perhaps... but to forgive something carries implication of 'transgression.' - If something is forgiven, then that thing is not justified on it's merits. We forgive harm. We do not forgive stuff like, uh... working in a soup kitchen.

How 'bout we just throw out literally everything JKR has ever said or written outside of the seven books themselves? Because quite a lot of it is rubbish. Generally, appeal to Word of God is a solid answer, but...JKR.

(Personally, I'd throw out the Epilogue, too, but...)

As a gay man, I could go on for days about why JK [1] is... socially sub-optimal in egregious ways. Tbh I kinda want to.

But I think that this is not the place for that sort of thing.

My take on 'canonicity' (for this quest) is this:

Word of QM > Literal text from books that we decide to not ignore[2] > What various threadgoers decide is relevant> BeepSmile's urine > Word of JK.

[1] Dumbledoor. [3] I'm not angry
[2] At 14 I read about SPEW, and how JK framed it and... at that age I was like wtf. You know you've fucked up when 14 y/o BeepSmile can see that something is wrong.
[3] Except for the times when I think about it.

You leveled up!

I realized this writing the next update and would like to do this vote separately. This means that you can now freely distribute 2 Attribute Points. Please vote in plans.

[ ] Plan Tabula Rasa (etc.)

Constitution 2 - Your general physical condition, endurance, health, and strength.
Creativity 3 - The ability to create innovative ideas or things using your imagination.
Intellect 3 - The ability to think in an intelligent way and to understand difficult or complicated ideas and subjects.
Empathy 2 - The ability to understand how someone feels because you can imagine what it is like to be them.
Luck 2 - Success that you have by chance and not because of anything that you do.

Ah, before I forget +5XP for an engaging discussion. The question underlying you're current discussion is a very interesting one (you may consider your wand).

[X] Plan Artist
-[X] Creativity
-[X] Empathy

I didn't realize we're close to leveling up. Is this our first or second level?
