This was a great chapter to end the book and I really enjoyed reading all of it. I don't usually enjoy reading combat scenes (shocking I know), but in this story it's always a pleasure.
Not only that, but I absolutely relish all the mysteries and wordbuilding of this story. So @Tabula Rasa thank you for sharing it with us!

On another note,

"Wow, I told you he wasn't doing any studying the last few weeks," Padma said to Morag next to her.

"I guess that gives Ravenclaw the record for top student back," said Su. "Or wait … Granger also has all O's. What happens in this case?"

In this case, If I had to put a student on top, I would say Hermione as she has more options so more O's to account for.

[X] Plan Friends and Family

I will vote for this because I want Jacob to visit France with his friends. My arguments are :
1. I don't think we will be able to do it next month.
2. I think it would be a good idea to spend some time with friends and not just family. ( Personally on vacation, when I spend all my time with my grandparents or my family they worry and ask I stop to spend more time with friends... Especially with my family in Spain, It makes them way happier to see me with people my age than to see me with them even If I personally enjoy myself eitherway.)
3. It's in France. Et c'est chez moi ;)

I'm really happy with the results of this portion, Jacob own up to his actions and how his arrogance was part of what got Harry turned, he also gets really far into the Dueling Tournament and gets 2nd place. All in all Jacob did wonderfully and really well but didn't get his perfect victory for either they Mystery of the Tournament which is going to be good for character growth and development.

The scene with Jacob getting his grades and is friends seeing was really funny with him being a little shit which was very entertaining. Also happy that Jacob's dad is proud of him even though he didn't win, hell he may even be happy Jacob didn't win so he now has more motivation to improve himself combat wise. Also love the interaction with Harry it was really cool and showcased their virtues and flaws.

[X] Plan: Catching up with family
I would like to see more of Jacob's family we can interact with friends and do magic later but this is time sensitive both with summer only lasting so long and with Grandpa Nic dying.

[X] The Mystery of Life

One thing I want to call out from the update is how excellent the characterization of Harry is here. His best characteristics in Canon are his general kindness and sense of responsibility. I love how this gets brought out and how to contrasts with Jacob. Both characters are coming to similar conclusions, but from different perspectives and drives. I just wish we would have heard about what happened with Lupin. I hope he is as ok as he can be.

You were standing on top of the stage already, taking in the buzz and excitement around you that made your heartbeat quicken. Families, parents, and siblings were all over the stands, some you recognized, most you did not. A few of the teachers were sitting in the teachers block, but you could also see some witches and wizards up there that were only familiar to you from newspapers. Ministry officials had come to participate in the school fun as well today.

All and everyone had come to watch the 29 participants duel it out for the title of champion. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the field, and highlighting the vibrant colors of the robes worn by all duelists.
Well, this is a bigger event than I thought it would be. The student body being in attendance was a given. But I didn't think that parents would be invited nor that Ministry officials would be coming as well. Though I suppose it makes sense that the Ministry might want to scout out future talent.

Wait. "Luna, what is a Blibbering Humdinger?" You had never heard of such a creature.

Luna raised the large jar in her hands to you and said: "This here is one. It feeds on dreams and hopes of people."

You looked at the jar, intrigued despite your fatigue. "That sounds dangerous for you to be holding so closely," you said, taking a step closer to get a better look at the creature. It was quite fascinating. It looked like mundane sand to you. Maybe it was hiding? Or there was a transformation involved?
I like that Jacob accepts Luna's words without question. Other people would say such a thing doesn't exist. But Jacob accepts the fact that such a thing is possible right off the bat.

From above the bed, Harry continued talking to you, while you were fishing his map out: "This is amazing, Jacob. I had no idea it could be so detailed. It even shows more passageways and hidden rooms than mine! How did you do this by yourself?"
Well, I suppose this answers the question of who has the better Map. That Jacob built the Map himself probably helps too because if there are any future improvements needed then he can add them himself.

"Thank you," he said instead. "You saved Sirius and thanks to you, he might be free soon." Harry raised his healthy arm towards you. "Professor Dumbledore told me about the manner of your time loop. You could have died, but you did your best to save my friends and Sirius, nonetheless. I will not forget this, Jacob."
I figured that this would be his reaction. Sure, Harry is a Werewolf now, but he also now has family that he can turn to in the form of Sirius.

With a heavy heart, you lowered your wand and walked over to Percy, who stood victorious on the other side of the stage. You could see the satisfaction and pride in his eyes, and you couldn't help but feel a twinge of anger. But you pushed it aside and forced a smile onto your face.

You stayed silent, extending your hand for a handshake until the Gryffindor released his spell. "You deserved to win." You said.

Percy took your hand and gave it a firm shake. "Thanks, Jacob. You put up a good fight," he said, a hint of support in his voice.

"Yeah," you replied, trying to hide the disappointment in yours.

Percy looked at you sympathetically. " You're a talented duelist, Jacob. I will be gone from Hogwarts now, which means you will be the closest to a champ left."

You nodded. This was just a setback. You'd come back stronger next year. "Thanks, Percy. I appreciate it," you said, before turning to walk off the stage.

Some of the cheers and applause of the crowd was directed at you, but you didn't look up.

The year was over now. And while there was much in form of success, there was a lot of room to grow into next year still.
Percy is a good sport. If anyone deserved to win (other than Jacob), I suppose it would have been him. And at least the person Jacob lost to was a 7th year. Losing to a well placed Silencio also makes sense. I imagine that Jacob may need to get his subjects up to E (12) in order to start being capable of nonverbal spells. If not he can always look up the requirements when he has the time.

There are many things for you to do this summer! Chose 3 actions out of the following for the first month of summer vacation. Usual monthly planning is suspended due to follow-up effects of the obsession trait. Jacob will take time to relax. You will have most unused choices (and some additional options) in the second month.

Vote in plans, please.

[ ] A fathers journey – Your father is going to travel a lot this summer. Nicolas Flamel seems to need his help now more than you remembered from your childhood. If you want to spend more quality time with your father, you will probably need to accompany him on his travels. Go and join his daytrips whenever you can.

[ ] A mothers travel – Your mother has had many paintings commissioned over the last few months that she wants to deliver on. She will be attending some events and visiting old friends. Big social commitments that she would like to have you around for. This sounds like something that you would rather not do, but you want to spend time with your mother. Go and accompany her whenever it fits.

[ ] A Grandfather's obsession – Nicolas Flamel looks much worse than he did during winter break. The old man's life is coming to an end it seems, but it seems that his obsessions don't care for his physical state. He es working on many projects at once. You are still torn on what you feel towards him, but he is family. Go and help him whenever you can.

[ ] Ravenclaw meeting – Morag and Padma are going to be in France for a few days with their families. Morag wrote you about it. Ask Nicolas for something to travel with and go to Paris to show them the Place Cachée. You haven't been there in a year, so it might be fun!

[ ] My birthplace – Somewhere deep below the island, there is the place of your creation. You will search for it and see if it is still activated. You don't know what you will do once you find out if souls are still getting trapped or not … but it might be time to confront this devil.

[ ] The sea below – You have everything that you would need to travel the sea around the island. Go into the water and discover what the world looks down there.

[ ] I am here and now I am there – You know of a spell that allows for teleportation of oneself from one location to another. Now that you have enough space and no legal limitations, why not learn how to apparate?

[ ] Friendly visitors – Ask one or multiple friends to come over for a day trip onto the island. Specify who you want to invite. Possible list: [Justin Finch-Fletchley, Megan Jones, Tracey Davis, Padma Patil, Morag Macdougal, Anthony Goldstein, Terry Boot]
Lots of fun options here. Before anything else, it is probably a good idea to spend time with Nicolas and both Jacob's parents. Mainly because all of them are old and don't have much time left. Nicolas is obviously going to be going soon (probably within a year) and I don't imagine Jacob's parents will last much longer after Jacob graduates, if they make it till then. Seeking out Jacob's birthplace should probably be taken some time before the summer ends. Spending time with friends also looks like a good option. The sea and apparate action also looks tempting, but maybe for next month if time permits.

[X] Plan: Catching up with family

Well, at least Jacob lost to the graduating Head Boy. There is no shame in such a defeat, in the final round, no less.

It is going to be an interesting summer for Potter, to say the least. One way or another, he cannot return to the Dursleys, not with his lycanthropy. Either way, it is his story, his problem, not Jacob's.

The werewolf thing is huge. If Harry doesn't turn, MAYBE, maybe Dumbledore can cover it up. If he does, Riddle owes Lupin huge, as he did a lot of winning the war for him. Harry loses pretty much all of his political power, Dumbledore has to sacrifice a lot of his to even keep Harry in the school. Does the dark magic change him enough that the blood wards don't work? Will they work against him, as he is cursed now? Fanon says that's why Lupin didn't visit. Unless he flees the country, Lupin goes to prison at the least.

Honestly considering all things, Hogwarts is kinda lackluster when magic do not involve wands.
Well, IIRC our parents were around Dumbledore's age and a wizard can easily live well past their 130s...

Why would he be going to prison?
He took the potion and locked himself in his room, so he was not negligent, the only reason he attacked was because Pettigrew sabotaged his efforts to use him as a distraction... Lupin is a totally innocent party in all of this.

Given how bigoted wizarding Britain has been shown to be I doubt it will matter much as those bigots with political capital will make gold out of this if given the chance.

We do know a counter spell, Finite Incantatem, since it's taught in second and third year. But we'll need to be able to do it non-verbally in order to get around being hit with Silencio.

Exactly. It's huge news that The Boy Who Lived is now a werewolf. Blame needs to be spread, and this is a chance to use it for politics. Weaken Dumbledore, who wants Lupin alive, so push for his death.

Edit: it's only partly about Lupin, it's more about political blocks, hatreds, bigotry, and focusing blame away from the dark mark on Peter's arm.

Hm, canonically, in Prisoner of Azkaban, Professor Snape revealed Lupin's werewolf status during breakfast, so the entire school knew about it. Hagrid was the one who mentioned to Potter that Lupin was a werewolf and had resigned.

In this case, the news about Lupin's lycanthropy does not seem to have spread. Even if the rest of the school does not know about it, the only recourse for Lupin is still to resign. No matter the circumstances, Potter's lycanthropy makes Lupin's continued presence rather... untenable.

This is a really good point about partial victories being really good for an initial arc. As our first finished arc it would've been kind of disappointing to tie everything off with a neat bow without any hardships to grow off of. Jacob showed amazing talent and ingenuity to do better than could ever be expected of him, but not so well that he can't reflect on his mistakes. It's just about the perfect level of competence for a motivated Jacob in arc 2.

Between Jacob taking all the mistakes on himself and, while being highly intelligent and competent, still not coming out 100% on top in any of his endeavors definitely leaves room for growth and improvement.

[X] Plan: Catching up with family

I really liked the Luna interactions, particularly how you can almost feel the protective and brotherly streak Jacob developed. Given that, I wouldn't mind seeing tutoring sessions for Luna as a possible project for the next school year.

Jacob knows she tends to wander around alone, he knows other students give her trouble (Jacob has his own experiences), he knows she goes out looking for magical creatures, and he knows she is smart. Let's not discourage her from her passion projects, but prepare her so she can handle whatever she might run into.

Plus, teaching is also a lot about reflecting and revision, which might help us get a deep understanding of certain subjects.

For all intents and purposes, most likely. Who knows if the blood wards will even function properly? Even if so, the Dursleys must be informed about Potter's lycanthropy, unless one wants to risk a situation of Potter butchering them upon the next full moon and embarking upon a bloody rampage through the entire neighborhood.

The Dursleys would not want the risk and are not equipped to deal with housing a werewolf during the full moon even if they were willing. Then, there is the matter of delivering the wolfsbane potion to Potter every month while he is with the Dursleys.

I still agree with this plan ,but the synergy between the birthplace and Nicolas options that has been pointed out are interesting .
