@Tabula Rasa these two overdrive actios are only considered normal actions or they can also be applied to personal actions?

2 normal actions or one Personal action. I reserve the right to call bullshit on things if they do not make sense. Attribute training for example are completely out of the question. Probably all skill learning if they do not contribute directly to reaching a needed treshold.

Examples are listed in both categories.

So it's probably either. at our choice.
Oui.

Edit: @Fanhunter696 You actually made me realize something I wanted to change before the Hiatus. Brewing and Building should not be the same kind of difficult in this game system. I noticed that it hindered you guys from interacting with potions at all. I just changed it around and brewing now costs Normal Actions instead of Personal Actions. Check the last update, now edited for the new mechanic.

@Tabula Rasa The I love surprises perk in the info page hasn't been updated yet

It could just be me but I think finding all 10 castle runes may help in the construction of the Hogwarts map

for an overdrive action, Jacob should look for a spell that can hide him i.e. the disillusionment charm or something similar since Cedric has told him that he's not as good a shadow as he thinks, this would help towards that.

other actions would be to finish up the final potion needed for exam so Jacob can focus on the last case, brew wideye potion, learn lumos deep understanding so he has a light and a wand free to attack or defend, point me spell so he doesn't lose his bearings and increase spell repertoire.

Honestly am I the only one that wants to put another three training actions into DADA training and get it to 12?

Would jump our duelling bonus up by 12 points for three actions.

Probably not, but I would rather learn more spells, train alchemy to create the googles, build the map... etc

And even then we cannot progress up to 12 in DADA until we get to level 7 in creativity as well

-[X] Overdrive applicable: In Search of New Spells – Try to find a spell(s) within or close to your reach that would allow you to stun, knock out, or otherwise thoroughly bind a cunning, desperate, fully grown wizard.

16 actions total, with an emphasis on preparing for the Hunt for Sirius Black. But still making time for Randomness, Runes, and People (Con and Emp). And of course, another adventure in the form of the Forbidden Forest.

Locating Black is Hogwarts Map and Lumos. Capturing Black is Spell Research and Expelliarmus. And we still have next month to make more progress on both those fronts, since as the QM said he orders events such as that in our favor. Feedback is good, but I'll be gone for most of the day.

That Protego mastery looks pretty tasty. But I think we need one more level up before we can try and get a skill to O-.

Only one more potion needed for getting ready for the exams, the Antidote for Uncommon Poisons.

We're now capable of training Intellect again due to the level up. It's now locked at 8 instead of 7.
Ancient Runes now tied with DADA as our best subject due to all those Rune Club training rolls.

So. We have two months, so we don't have to do everything in the same month.
  • 10 actions. 2 overdrive actions.
  • Case V costs 2 actions, but only 1 is this month
  • HARC is one action away from being finished and I'd like to get it done before the end of the year.
  • Hogwarts map has 300 DC. Assuming an average roll of 50, we could allocate 4 regular actions and 2 overdrive actions to be sure that we succeed
  • We can allocate any unused actions for looking for more spells, since Jacob has been told in Dueling Club that he's getting a bit predictable. Also, we don't have any spells for sneaking or restraining people.
For Personal Actions, I suggest that we spend all 5 on learning spells (and our last potion) to have the biggest possible repetoire.
  • Antidote to Uncommon Poisons (DC 100) is out last required potion/spell of the year
  • Lumos (Deeper Understanding) (DC 50) has been pointed out as essential for fighting in dark places, and has come up as something we lack repeatedly (-10 malus for fighting in the dark). The Forbidden Forest is dark.
  • Waddiwasi (DC 50) allows for more using the environment as a source of attacks, which Jacob enjoys.
  • Diffindo (DC 50) allows for the cutting of bonds (including spiderwebs) and is a threat that must be responded to
  • Engorgio/Reducio (DC 100) is the closest we have to a restraining spell right now
[X] Plan Taking Things Siriusly
-[X] [Normal]Case V: The Search for Sirius Black (2 Actions [1 Action in May, 1 Action in June])
-[X] [Normal]Runes Club Research (Progress 9/10. Multiple Actions on this count as multiple rolls stacking)
-[X] [Normal]Overdrive applicable: Stage III, A Hogwarts Map (Multiple Actions on this count as multiple rolls stacking) x4
-[X] [Normal]Overdrive applicable: What hides behind trees I
-[X] [Normal]Overdrive applicable: In Search of New Spells x3

--[X][Sneaking and Capture]
-[X][Personal] Overdrive applicable: Do your research (Antidote to Uncommon Poisons, Lumos (Deeper Understanding), Waddiwasi, Diffindo, Engorgio/Reducio) x 5

Ok, this is my first draft of a plan...

My reasoning is as follows, we should obviously search for Sirius and try to finish the rune research, then we do the map (and with our bonus for alchemy we should get the map finished in 3 actions with average rolls) I am applying overdrive here because mechanically it doesn´t really make any difference, and finally I am taking the Forbidden forest action because making a preliminary exploration could be useful...

And regarding personal actions, I am training alchemy so that in the next turn we are capable of creating the Ghost Glasses (which gives us TREMENDOUS benefits for combat, exploration, and utility), and then focusing on getting the remaining potion done in time and some spells that are great for utility and combat...

I would appreciate any feedback

You are forgetting the bonus we have here that IIRC was around 50...

We can do the map in half the actions you propose...

Hmmm. I wonder if the Homorphus charm is a viable option. DC would probably to high though.

I approve of trying to find more spells. Every new spell opens up more tactical options and widens Jacob's toolkit for solving problems. It's about time we actually do it.

Plus it seems to require placing your wand's tip on the werewolf's throat. Not exactly a tempting option unless the werewolf is completely restrained.

The Stunning Spell still sounds like the best option to me.

Dropping you guys some old information to not have you miss out on old learnings through the hiatus.

The exams will be had after all June actions. Then the spells & potions will be checked. Secondly, there is a general grade of for each subject. To make it simple: A D+ in the Character Sheet will translate into a O in the final grades for a third year.

Herbology & History of Magic are at the cutoff right now (D), but they will turn into D+ with the last class progress in June. The only subject at the moment that is not going to hit the O-exam threshold is Arithmancy. Right now it is at D- and it would hit a D by the time of the exams (Which is fine, I just wanted you to have that information).

Good eye, thanks for pointing it out.

Guys, do me the favor and sort it into what is Personal and what is normal action please? It's a bit difficult to count anything like that.

That works, but I'v found with this and other quests that including options in the turn posts improves readability past the current turn.
Good point. I will add them for future readers :)

How about we not do that. His situation is too funny to be rid of. Also, really don't want to use Actions on Dating.

Yes it is funny. Also who said anything about dating, it was an example of what an airhead he is socially right now. Empathic Intelligence so he notices the small things, such as that, or merfolk being uncomfortable with visitors as sapients; not props.

But since picked both Arithmancy and Magic theory ant the beginning of the year, wouldn't that make us level Arithmancy twice and reach D+ at the time of the exams by leveling up twice automatically?

Is Flying not considered a class we get graded in? Just asking because it's included in that golden trapezoid core skills spider chart on the character page.

Though really it's not as important a class as everything else.

If true, then never mind my comment. I'm glad that we have enough eyes on this to not do any mistakes like that.

I'll have to check when I'm home. Right now I am just on my phone and don't have access to my notes.

Edit: No need for my notes, it is listed in the character sheet with both classes. You are right :)

No, Core skills don't necessarily have classes. You don't have a flying class.
