You know what, fuck it, I abstain.

I came here after reading the Marvel Quest and I must say....The sheer disparity of Luck between Jacob and Sam is immense.

Also, sad that I can't comment on the Marvel one. Starting to really hate the warnings I receive. I had a some stuff to say, but now I forgot them.

"So, Jacob …" Justin said, leaning closer to you and Megan.

"You had a date with Davis, huh," he said, his voice high pitched as he wiggled his eyebrows at you. "Care to tell us about it?"

You opened your mouth to answer, when you felt Megan turn to your right.

Instead of answering Justin, you focussed on her. All positive emotions had disappeared from her face as she starred at you.

"You went on a date?" Her voice was so quiet that you almost didn't hear her words.

Why was she looking so angry?
Lol, clueless Jacob is pretty amusing. I'm glad that he has found some friends that can put up with his awkwardness.

"There are many stupid things in life," the Hufflepuff prefect said, pointing his wand at Zacharias. "But there are not many that rank below a bully that doesn't know when they should just shut up and say sorry."

He looked at Zacharias, then at Wayne who didn't move from his position and looked down at the ground in shame.

Cedric sighed.

"You will say sorry to Luna and I want to see you treat her with respect and kindness in the future," Cedric said with clear annoyance in his voice. "Now, we will have a quick talk with Professor Sprout and later you will hand over her things to our dear Ravenclaw."

With that Cedric carelessly flicked back the wand in his hand and dropped it to the ground between him and Wayne.

"And be thankful that I came after you," he said, now gesturing at you. "He would have cleaned the walls with you."
Scenes like these remind me of how cool Cedric could be. Popular, not arrogant, and just an all around good guy. Pretty great a magic as well. I like the parting line at the end where he is like, "trust me guys, I'm saving your lives right now, you don't want to mess with this kid". Also makes sense that Jacob would have a reputation. His duel in the trophy room wasn't exactly low key, especially when his opponent was out for a week recovering.

Hagrid is the best. It makes sense that Jacob would get along with him considering their shared love for magical creatures. The bonus to training Understanding Magical Creatures will come in handy too.

New Notebook started: Magical Creature Projects

You have worked on yourself a lot, but you have never thought to use your energy to work on a beast instead. There are two things you could do next. But you are not sure which one to go for just yet. Only one entry will get written into your new Notebook though:

[ ] How to tame a wild Water-Horse Taming Creature. A Kelpie lurks in rivers and streams and will kneel in invitation for anyone to ride it across. If this is attempted, the Kelpie will drag the rider underwater and attempt to eat them. The creatures are shapeshifting water demons native to Great Britain and Ireland. They are able to take any form. But what if you have the possibility to meet it under water? Go into its lair and have it get used to you. A Kelpie could be rendered docile and harmless by making it familiar over time. [Requires Understanding of Magical Creatures skill of at least P D+ due to available Mermaid's Breath), DC: 150.

[ ] How to tame a wild Winged-Horse – Taming a Creature. Thestrals are horse-like creatures with black, bat-like wings and glowing red eyes. They are only visible to those who have witnessed death and are notoriously difficult to tame. However, if you are able to approach a Thestral cautiously and offer it food, you may be able to gain its trust over time. It is important to approach a Thestral with caution, as they can be dangerous if provoked. But who would need a broom if you had a flying horse? [Requires Understanding of Magical Creatures skill of at least P D+ due to available Perk 'Hagrid's Friend', DC: 150]
This is a bit of a tough one, I like Thestrals, but on the other hand I don't think that I've ever seen a fic with a Kelpie mount, which sort of adds to the appeal of the Water-Demon Horse. Also, with the confirmation about how huge the lake is and the reminder that Durmstrang managed to use it to reach Hogwarts, a potential whole new world opens up:

Considering that for this quest I like to take the parts that have been not explained that well or were under-discovered in fanfiction and considering that Jacob was already reeeeaally deep and had still not hit ground before he was caught - there might be more to the Lake than the average viewer would assume!
[X] How to tame a wild Water-Horse

Thestrals are great, but there are a variety of animals that can fly, not to mention brooms and the like. The Kelpie opens up a number of possibilities underwater. Besides the fact that it could possibly assist Jacob in a fight against the Soul-Snatcher whenever Jacob goes for his rematch. A Kelpie could help Jacob in exploring the Lake, which seems to be larger than we previously thought. With the confirmation that the Lake is a huge place, which Durmstrang used to reach Hogwarts from wherever their school was, it could actually potentially lead out into the ocean. A water mount would be a huge asset in exploring a place that large. And while Mermaid's Breath is great and all, I don't think Jacob has the constitution to swim for miles in whatever depths the Lake could lead to. Add in the fact that the Lake seems to be one of the more dangerous areas to explore, a second pair of eyes could be useful.

Also, the Kelpie might not be limited to the lake. They do lurk in rivers and streams as well. Jacob could probably use a Kelpie to explore upstream of any body of water. I imagine their may be some rivers near the Lake that lead into the Forrest and vice-versa that Jacob could possible traverse with a Kelpie.

One will simply observe the outcome, as there is no stake in the matter this time, not least due to the fact that in the case of experiencing both acrophobia and thalassophobia, neither option seems particularly appealing.

The best that one can say about the lake is that it, hopefully, does not have sharks in it. Unfortunately, there are far worse things in that abyss, soul-eating abominations and all.
