A Darker Path [Worm Fanfic]

(*) That's more about me and my own hang-ups than the fic itself.
Were you reading it on Spacebattles, Sufficient Velocity, or Fanfiction.net?

Spacebattles is mostly the original except that the mods have zapped some of it, Sufficient Velocity is the edited PG-rated version, and I think FFN is still the full original.

Nah, I edited everything back to PG if I recall correctly.

Read all of it here on SV (that I read). I've only recently started visiting SB at all in the past week or three, and still haven't created an account there for myself. (Though after reading the assorted sidestories/omake for this arc there, most especially Memorial Day, I probably should, if only to add my own likes to the excellent offerings there). I don't currently recall just what it was that triggered my decision to stop reading it, but it wasn't any non-PG segments, as they'd already been removed/replaced here before I started reading.

And I don't think I've visited ffn in well over a decade, at the least. It's entirely possible I've barely been there this century, in fact.

This is the first time I've actually gotten to the very end of one of your stories, rather than just the latest entry.

Technically incorrect, I realised while writing this, as I have made it all of the way through Medhall Intern, but obviously when I wrote the above I was mentally considering it and PRT Operative as the same story for whatever reason.

Now I still have to decide which (completed) story to throw myself into next. :thonk:

Such a horrible decision! :D

I tend to group It Gets Worse and A Darker Path together, since they're both stories where Taylor is clearly going to win every confrontation but it's entertaining to watch it unfold. It Gets Worse is the more comedic slapstick version, while A Darker Path is of course the more vicious one (while still darkly humorous).

I'm trying to avoid SpiceBottles as much as possible, because I keep getting infracted every few months for rules I didn't know existed, like my most recent 10 point infraction for a "Whitehall Breach" where I mentioned real world politics in a thread where the comment was actually extremely ON point.

I've read their rules, and I dread posting there because I never know when I'm going to get hit for something I didn't know about. (I suspect that I know the political party of the mod who infracted me most recently, however ...)

I gave up on it for literally policing thought-crime. As in, saying, "I don't agree with this, but I know that if I speak my full opinion I could get banned, so I'll stop there," earned infraction points.

(Edit: I did message the mod to question the decision, and was sharply told off for not going through the formal appeal process. I raise an appeal thread, the same mod promptly turns up to reject it. But it's not as though being able to sit in judgement on his/her own actions actually changed the outcome, because a bunch of other mods upvoted the comments they made. None of them indicated any degree of concern about me pointing out that they're literally banning people from having dissenting opinions; the mod agreed s/he was doing that and approved of it.)

(Edit 2: Though SV is not necessarily different.)

Exactly. I suspect that SB leans a little more toward support for the current regime. And that is my last statement on all of it. So if I broke a rule here, please tell me BEFORE hitting me with points?

*looks down*

"Oh, hello again, can. Fancy meeting you here."

It Gets FunnierWorse completed, and it was the perfect chaser to A Darker Path: Lighter, funnier, not taking itself at all seriously and not too long. 👍👍
