"That's her! Right there!" a fist slammed against the cold table. This was followed by the person crying out in pain as the shock traveled up his still injured arm. However, his angry gaze never once left the news report on the TV in the room. Specifically, the image of a pink-haired girl as she was led into a police car with her hands cuffed behind her back.
The person sneers at the TV as their injured hand curls into a fist, "She's the one behind all this! I remember seeing her giving orders to the others when they first showed up!"
"I see," the young man sitting across them at the other end of the table replied. He leaned back in his chair with his hands laced together as the two of them watched the news report on what happened last night. The general reaction was as one would expect. People asking what had happened, why it had happened, how it had happened, and what would be done about it, if anything. Of course, many didn't ask what could be done about it. Just that something was done which usually didn't solve the root of the problem.
However, such things were the concern of others. Namely, the parents of the two Raijin students and the various government officials no doubt looking for a solution to the public outcry. The two students were concerned with matters they viewed as important.
The injured young man rubbed the cast his arm was in, turning towards the other person as he spoke, "What have you heard from your mom?"
"The police have numerous students of Kirin High in custody, though they believe some managed to escape," the other young man pulled a small journal from his pocket and placed it on the table. He started to write in it as he continued to speak, "As such, they plan to launch a full investigation into the school itself to find the root cause of this incident and discover the missing culprits. However, many of those taken are likely to be put in a correctional facility as they are considered juveniles. The girl you accuse to be their leader included."
"That's not good enough!" the other student shouted, "That's a slap on the wrist compared to what they did to us! And the only way they'll learn to not mess with our school is spending a couple of months behind bars!"
"Do you honestly believe that there are enough jail cells for all the people they have in custody?" the young man kept his eyes on his journal as he continued the conversation.
The injured student shook his head then smiled confidently and pointed towards the TV with his good arm, "No, but they don't need to put them all away. Only her. She's their leader. If they see her behind bars then they all think twice before trying to hurt us again!"
"You."
"Huh?"
The young man closed the journal before looking up at the injured student with clear disappointment in his gaze, "You keep saying 'us' as if you are speaking for the entire school. When in reality, you are simply speaking for yourself. You seek revenge against Kirin High for what they did and look to achieve it through punishing her. The girl you believe to be their leader based on a single time you saw her."
"H-hey!" the injured student stood up, pushing his chair back as he got to his feet, "What the hell are you saying?! Don't think for a second that I'm the only one who wants to get back at those Kirin assholes!"
"I am sure you are not. However, inconsequential things such as revenge are of no interest to me. And if that is your only reason for contacting me, then we have no reason to cooperate on this matter."
"So that's it? Your mom is the main one blocking any of us from actually getting any of the people who did this behind bars. And instead of helping those of us who were harmed by this get some peace of mind, you're going to let them all get away with this!?"
The injured student flinched away as the young man sent an angry glare his way. The young man stood from his seat and walked towards one of the windows in the room as he spoke, "Do not presume to understand my actions. The police do not intend to allow such a heinous crime to go unanswered. Certain Kirin High students will no doubt be tried as adults and put behind bars. Others shall face other punishments that befit their current and past records. They will not simply allow them all to go without some type of consequence for their actions. And I intend to do the same, but not for you nor anyone else. Not for something as petty as revenge, nor based on a single person's likely biased account of the events. No, I shall look into this myself and confirm your statements. And based on my findings, I shall act in accordance with something far greater than simple vengeance."
"And that would be."
Mitsuhide Furai, Student Council President of Raijin Academy and son of the Commissioner-General of The Japanese National Police Agency, spoke with absolute conviction in his voice as he looked out over his recovering school, "The Pursuit Of Justice."
He then turned back to the TV, ingraining the image of the pink hair girl in his memory. He would investigate this girl, and discover if she truly was the leader of the attack.
And if it turned out she was, then he would not rest until she was punished to the fullest extent of the law for her actions.
Only then would justice be served.
Finally got this in.
Will admit, not completely proud of it. I kind of lost exactly what I was going for as I started writing it. Do have plans to work with it though.
