I plan to go the Perk route. In that certain Milestones on certain Skills will unlock Perks that can increase your AP.
Looking at this...all things considered, when we do train our education. I say we focus on our mathematics. Not necessarily.
While Education will allow you to unlock the path to better time management, it is not the only way.
If you're extremely clever, you can find easy ways to get cetain tasks finished quickly so you have more time, as an example.
It is the most likely to have something to help boost our AP, aka help us manage our time better.
1. Looks like orientation occurred off-screen.While you would typically be paired with a random student at our school, we have decided to assign you to a room with your brother. At his explicit request. You can find your room number printed on the bottom of this letter, and may begin moving in once orientation is complete. May your developing years spent at Raijin be ones of great academic achievement!
Two Floor Dorm Building. I wonder how many building like this there are. Regardless, we should be able to meet our neighbors sooner or later. You skip down to the bottom of the letter and see three numbers "278" printed on it. A glance up reveals the matching gold number painted on the solid black door of the two floor dorm building.
1. So all of the brothers things can fit into three bags and two suitcases. Gotcha."Looks like we're here," you adjust the three bags tied to your back and the two suitcases in your hands. You look over your shoulder at Yamato, who's carrying one suitcase and his laptop under his arms. You jerk your head at the door, "Want to do the honors?"
Your brother steps forward, pulls a card from his pocket, swipes it through the rectangular opening in the gray number pad above the handle, and pushes the door open. He holds it for you while you duck to stop the bags from hitting the door frame. The two of you take a moment to drink in the room you've been given.
...well, this is definite confirmation that this school is for the rich. The entrance leads straight into a living room with a flat screen, two plush looking chairs sitting right across from it, and a small round table between them in the middle of the room. Multiple empty shelves stand to the left and right of the TV, their wood polished to a sheen.
Down the hall to your left you catch a glimpse of a bed with the whitest, cleanest sheets you've ever seen on it through an open door.
The hall your right shows two doors. The open one leads into a kitchen complete with an electric stove and microwave while closed one has the word "Bathroom" emblazoned above it.
And, of course, there's the wonderful pine scent that hits your nose the moment you take off your shoes. You take in a deep breath of it and let it out with a satisfied sigh.
1. One of the bags carries the stuff from the brothers parents. All things considered we OOC may want to look though that at some point. Unless we can be told about it right now? @LinkOnScepterThen the both of you walk into the bedroom and toss your junk on your respective beds, taking care to place the bag containing the stuff from your parents gently on the floor. You take the bed to the left of the door while Yamato takes the one to the right. Both of you open the black suitcases with decorative "R"s emblazoned on them to pull out your uniforms.
You frown at the solid black shirt while you start to take off your clothes, "Urgh, still don't like the looks of this thing. It's so...plain. Think anyone would mind if I wore my white shirt under this?.
Oh hey! Looks like everyone knows about us already. Figures, guess most of those attending must have known if each other's existences beforehand, except for us and any other scholarship students..."Considering how many of our peers looked at you with clear disgust when we entered the campus grounds, making adjustments to your student uniform would most likely result in further ostracization among the student body, along with possible disciplinary action from the faculty for violating the uniform code," Yamato replies after you glance at him for an answer. He's started undressing too.
"Yamato, we just got here," you turn back to your own changing with a shake of your head, "I'm pretty sure no one's 'disgusted' with us yet."
All things considered... at least the brothers don't have to worry about trying to compete with the best of the best...just third best. Which probably, still hell."Incorrect. In all past Official Japanese Secondary Education Rankings, Yokohama Raijin High School has been ranked third 75% of the time.
1. 200 x 0.90 = 180 will in the future have powerful position.90% of the students who graduate from here get into positions that give them great influence over the future of the country. 80% of those students are the Heir Apparent of various corporations and political parties within Japan."
"Aaaaannnndddd that means?"
You hear Yamato close his suitcase just as he answers, "That of the 200 students that go to this school, the vast majority are, or will be, apart of 'Society's Elites'. In contrast, we are here on Scholarships that pay for us to stay on campus. We are apart of 'The Masses'. The student body being kind to either of us is extremely unlikely."
Of course. Have to fit the look.A shake of your head follows as you unbutton the top two buttons on your uniform so you can breathe better.
You know, I kind of wonder if this is literal or metaphorical. Considering Hayato is the Dreamer. Probably not though. He just has latent empathy, and knows his brother well. One step is all it takes to stand in front of him and place a hand on his laptop. His black eyes are identical yet duller than yours as they look up to stare you down. But you can still see the small flame behind them, waiting for something to spark it.
Hmm...suckers bet, we have to deal with overkill attempts to try and 'get us our of here.'"Ok, bro," you start, "What's eating you?"
"As I said when we applied to this school, choosing to live on campus is ill-advised," he flatly explains, "There are too many risk involved to see it as a wise decision."
A GLORIOUS SPEECH THAT SHALL ECHO THROUGHOUT TIM-You smile and place a hand on his shoulder, "That's because you're thinking about it the wrong way. You're only thinking about the risk. Think of the rewards."
Before he can reply you jump back and hold your arms out, "Look at us, bro. We're high schoolers. These will be the most important years of our lives! Here is where it all starts! Forming friendships that last a lifetime! Taking pride in your school and learning to love everything you do! Discovering your passion and following it through to the end! School crushes that will blossom into the unstoppable force of passion that is Love!"
You strike a pose while planting your foot on the table and pointing towards the ceiling, "And the best way to experience it all, is to be directly in its path! Sure there are risk, but they pale in comparison to the unfathomable rewards that await us when we overcome them! No matter what gets in our way, we will prevail! For we are the Nagai Brothers! And nothing can stand in the path we blaze to our future! Are you with me?!"
Spoilsport.A glance at Yamato shows him supporting his head with his hand while looking at you with uninterested expression that you've grown familiar with.
1. At least he agreed with us. There is hope for him yet.Your smile doesn't abate. He finally shrugs while emitting a short sigh, "I suppose there is a non-zero chance of the events you reference happening. So, I will concede that you are correct in this situation. Please remove your foot from the table and cease your posing. Wrinkling your school uniform before classes start or your Martial Arts Club meets will likely result in disciplinary action, which could include the cancellation of your Scholarship."
1. Hmm...I wait in anticipation of which club he chooses."Oh, right," you chuckle while stepping down from your perch and sitting in the open chair, "Actually, what do you have to do to keep your Scholarship again? If you told me, I can't remember. Sorry."
"It is no matter," he leans back in his chair, "Due to my scholastic ability, they have given me three possibilities for how I can go about keeping my Scholarship. The first is to join the Robotics Club and enter competitions with them. The second is to join the Chess Team with the same conditions. The final is to keep my grades above a certain percentage, consecutively, for my first two years. I currently plan to thoroughly investigate each option and then choose the most viable of the three."
1. Pride. Once again, nice to see Yamato is capable of having emotions. You smile and give him a light punch to the shoulder, "That's my bro for ya. Figures your smarts would get you not one good deal, but three huh?"
"It is...only natural," you swear you hear the slightest hint of an emotion edging its way into his voice. It was slight, and only lasted a second, but it was there.
The tiniest hint of pride.
With a chuckle you stand up and start heading to the kitchen, "Well, if you need any help, you know where I'll be. You know I'm here for you."
"And I will be here when you require my assistance to pass your more mentally taxing classes."
"Hey, don't think that'll happen the entire time we're here," you send a cocky wink his way, "Who knows? Maybe this school rubs off on me and I end up smarter than you?"
"Maybe, Hayato. Maybe."
Late to the voting. Hmm...while I would prefer us studying, I guess that can wait until Yamato has more free time, or at least next turn.
Question @LinkOnScepter. Just to make sure, would be be able to use Unyielding Mountain Style during mundane combat or competitions?
Or should we level up street fighting...would their be any benefit to training up this street fighting? Since it is tagged. Skill Perks probably...
Kind of unsure how Normal + Bonus works, since this seems to fit two different ideas.
Though if the latter is what happens if we have the bonus, and not our partner...edited the feelings calc.
Looking at this...all things considered, when we do train our education. I say we focus on our mathematics.
It is the most likely to have something to help boost our AP, aka help us manage our time better.
Anyhow, time to do some analyzing!
1. Looks like orientation occurred off-screen.
2. Rajin...of course.
3. Looks like they do expect us to do academics not just martial arts which again does make sense. Athletes are expected to keep up grades as well.
Two Floor Dorm Building. I wonder how many building like this there are. Regardless, we should be able to meet our neighbors sooner or later.
1. So all of the brothers things can fit into three bags and two suitcases. Gotcha.
2. Guessing both of them get cards like that.

1. One of the bags carries the stuff from the brothers parents. All things considered we OOC may want to look though that at some point. Unless we can be told about it right now? @LinkOnScepter
2. Their school uniform is actually normal.
Oh hey! Looks like everyone knows about us already. Figures, guess most of those attending must have known if each other's existences beforehand, except for us and any other scholarship students...
Getting Kaguya Sama vibes. Odd. Pure vs Impure? Nah, this isn't an elevator school, so probably not as severe.
All things considered... at least the brothers don't have to worry about trying to compete with the best of the best...just third best. Which probably, still hell.
1. 200 x 0.90 = 180 will in the future have powerful position.
2. 200 x 0.80 = 160 are heirs to corporations and political parties.
So what I am hearing is that...there is about 10% to 20% of students here that the brothers can more easily BEFRIEND!!! Around 20 to 40.
Of course. Have to fit the look.
You know, I kind of wonder if this is literal or metaphorical. Considering Hayato is the Dreamer. Probably not though. He just has latent empathy, and knows his brother well.
Hmm...suckers bet, we have to deal with overkill attempts to try and 'get us our of here.'
A GLORIOUS SPEECH THAT SHALL ECHO THROUGHOUT TIM-
Spoilsport.
1. At least he agreed with us. There is hope for him yet.
2. Huh...so our scholarship could be canceled the moment we receive disciplinary action. Right, we have to be careful on that front. This isn't the type of school where we can just go on random adventurers, and speeches.
1. Hmm...I wait in anticipation of which club he chooses.
2. Wait...since Yamato has Education Mathematics 35...does he have 3 AP instead of Hayato's 2 AP? If he plans to investigate all 3 thoroughly this week, then he must have the time. Mathematics does seem to be his highest skill.
1. Pride. Once again, nice to see Yamato is capable of having emotions.
2. Hayato as the big brother probably doesn't wan't to rely on Yamato the whole way through. Though we'll have to at the moment.
Step 1: Don't do bad. While you can lose your Scholarship if you get in trouble, it's a "Three Strikes" rule. You can get in trouble three times before your at risk of losing your Scholarship. And, of course, you'll only get those Strikes if you get caught doing something bad.
Yamato has the actual makings of your typical Shounen Protag in him. It's just after Middle School things happened that forced his feelings into a dark hole. But they're still there, and if anyone has a chance of breaking them out it's you guys.
Gotcha. Hmm, we should probably upgrade Street Fighting in that case. We tagged it anyhow. And I very heavily doubt Hayato wants to accidentally kill someone, due to being too strong. You could us the Undying Mountain in mundane combat, but everyone would be able to tell that what you're using ain't a normal Martial Art. Any Normal person would simply think you're a Prodigy or really strong. If someone has a Partner or is in the Organization, however, they'd start asking questions and following you around.
If your plan is to keep your Partner and yourself hidden from them or don't want to reveal your moves too early, up mundane Martial Arts. That and...it's kind of hard to "Hold Back" when using the Supernatural Martial Arts. Could seriously hurt someone when you don't mean to if you use it.
Gotcha. So it is more.......I really need to read back on my stuff before I just answer.
What's in the Update takes Precedent.
1. Understood. We'll have to figure out how to do that at some point then.If you guys ever interact with your Parent's stuff, I'll fill out the Inventory with what's in it. And yeah, the brothers don't have much.
While you can lose your Scholarship if you get in trouble, it's a "Three Strikes" rule. You can get in trouble three times before you're at risk of losing your Scholarship. And, of course, you'll only get those Strikes if you get caught doing something bad.

BTW, a +2 training bonus doesn't actually mean +2 to the skill. It means the bonus is an additional +10 to the skill per AP.
Or we have, but he either refused to answer or deflected, since we do know that something happened after middle school. Unless that is not actually IC knowledge....Well that and actually ask him about what happened, since we don't seem to have.
QM disagrees.BTW, a +2 training bonus doesn't actually mean +2 to the skill. It means the bonus is an additional +10 to the skill per AP.
(Say you train Empathy: Feelings with a +2 training bonus. Means you train it at 20 per AP.)
Wait, actually:If you have a Skill at Normal, but your Partner has that same Skill at a Bonus, you get a +2 Bonus to the points gained.
That formula doesn't work in this case, since we're the one with the bonus, so Yato would be the one that would gain the +2 bonus, where as we would gain unknown bonus.2. Feelings: Hayato (Bonus) + Yato (Normal).
- Hayato: 0 + 15 + 2 = 17.
- Yato: 0 + 10 + # = 10 (?)
Hm, good to know. That fits, getting their full bonus wouldn't make sense either way, and besides, the training bonus we were getting at SL4 shouldn't have been as high as it seemed like. I guess the training bonuses are marked differently in this quest in comparison to Sage's AGG quests.
I haven't played Sage's AGG quest, so I cannot say.Hm, good to know. Yato was totally intentional, I even said so in the plan, I didn't create the winning plan for our bro, so I cannot say for Yamato, but I'd guess it too was intentional....Hayato, Yamato, and Yato. I am sensing a bit of a naming theme here.
Looks like your right.QM disagrees.
Wait, actually:
That formula doesn't work in this case, since we're the one with the bonus, so Yato would be the one that would gain the +2 bonus, where as we would gain unknown bonus.
[] The Logical Guy - Your brother...is very literal. And rational. Hear other people tell it, they'd mistake him for a robot. He speaks in a monotone voice, acts detached from everything going on around him, and never shows any kind of emotion. He never did this until you guys got into high school, so you wonder what changed?
That's fair. Considering Hayato's apparent personality, we probably did ask at some point.Or we have, but he either refused to answer or deflected, since we do know that something happened after middle school. Unless that is not actually IC knowledge.
Oh it totally was. I made the plan last time, and gave him the name Yamato since it fit Hayato.Yato was totally intentional, I even said so in the plan, I didn't create the winning plan for our bro, so I cannot say for Yamato, but I'd guess it too was intentional.

No vote yet. Still trying to figure out how the system works. Are caps for Martial Arts reflected anywhere? This probably should go to a pinned post about mechanics somewhere.
1. Assuming our Tagged Skills & Bonus Skills don't have an effect that raises the cap for them. Then all of our skills should still be 100.The Standard Cap is 100. This is for most characters.
You can get a Cap of 150 if you complete certain events.
Your brother will start with a cap of 150 and can upgrade it to 200. Cause he's the Protagonist.
1. Assuming our Tagged Skills & Bonus Skills don't have an effect that raises the cap for them. Then all of our skills should still be 100.
2. Though our current cap for Unyielding Mountain Technique is 35, until we raise one of our Resistances to 50. Which will then raise UMT Cap to 50. Not sure on the exact formula behind it though. Since its connected to all Three Resistances.
3. Luckily in Combat, Hayato combines skill checks with Yato, including UMT. Though that's really only for supernatural threats. On the mundane side...well we probably shouldn't be using Unyielding Mountain Technique.

...Well that and actually ask him about what happened, since we don't seem to have.
When it comes to Martial Art Skill Caps:
15 in Corresponding Skill = 35 Max Points in Martial Art
35 in Corresponding Skill = 50 Max Points in Martial Art
50 in Corresponding Skill = 75 Max Points in Martial Art
100 in Corresponding Skill = 100 Max Points in Martial Art
HayatoMartial Art: Unyielding Mountain Technique - The user becomes as a mountain. Unmovable, unbreakable, yet hitting with enough force to shake the earth beneath them. This Style requires the user to not just be physically resilient, but mentally and spiritually as well. For only when all three are in balance does this Style truly shine. Corresponding Skill: Resistance
YatoMartial Arts (+):
- Brawling (+)
- (Tagged) Street Fighting (+): 15
- Unyielding Mountain Technique (+) (Cursed Gauntlets): 10
Resistance:
- Physical (Your Body)
- Mental (Your Mind)
- (Tagged) Spiritual (Your Spirit): 15
In which case, the best bet for Hayato to improve in terms of UMT would be to raise his Spiritual Resistance since he already tagged it...though now that I think about it. I am kind of curious why so many voted for Physical Resistance instead...well doesn't matter much right now, anyhow.Martial Arts (+):
- Brawling (+): 20
- Street Fighting (+): 20
- Unyielding Mountain Technique (+) (Cursed Gauntlets): 50
Resistance (+):

- Mental (+) (Your Mind): 40
- Spiritual (+) (Your Spirit): 50
Gotcha. How were they living life before the quest anyhow? I mean before they managed to get an apartment. Like were they raised in an orphanage? Or...well anything really. Or is how they lived in the past beyond losing their parents a bit of a spoiler? For the record, Hayato does kind of know. But his knowledge isn't deep enough right now to fully see it.
Basically, for Hayato, his brother's change likely has to do with the bullies they had to deal with. But Hayato always beat them up or scared them off, so he's not sure why his brother turned into this.
Plan UMT & Understanding how people feel is a go!
The text of the martial art explicitly says it works better when the three Resistance Skills are in balance. I think LinkOnScepter made a post elaborating about this.In which case, the best bet for Hayato to improve in terms of UMT would be to raise his Spiritual Resistance since he already tagged it...though now that I think about it. I'll make sure to put up the tagged skills.
To explain the UMT Cap; It's connected to Resistance rather than a specific Skill to represent the entire Martial Art.
You guys can focus completely on Resistance: Physical, and still Master the Martial Art...but you won't be able to make full use of it.
Supernatural Martial Arts take full advantage of every part of a Skill.
To put it another way, there's a reason your Gauntlets has more points in all parts of Resistance. He knows more about and of the Style than you do, and thus can use it in multiple ways besides physical.
I am aware, I literally quoted the martial art. I was just confused on why everyone didn't focus on spiritual to raise the cap first, then the other resistances. But I didn't vote for any of the resistances, so shrugs. The text of the martial art explicitly says it works better when the three Resistance Skills are in balance. The vote for physical resistance probably would work better in the long run admittedly. Though I'm not sure if In-Balance means UMT gets weaker if all three resistances are not at the same level, too low, or too high.
Or if UMT just becomes more useful regardless, as long as one adds points to the resistances.
...having multiple partners would be hell on AP. Especially if each came with a different martial art.
[X] Train with the Gauntlets
-[X] Unyielding Mountain Technique
-[X] Feelings
Unless it's Brawling or Street Fighting, which essentially boil down to "Hit Them Hard Until They Fall Over",
Train all Resistances in tandem, got it.Make a long story short, it's the whole True Martial Art thing Shounens have.
UMT will be just as effective if you only max one Resistance Skill, but it will have holes in it that can be exploited, and you wouldn't be able to unlock the "OP Pleass Nerf" Bullshit final technique.
