Eh. There are lots of ways to serve green bananas, and serve them well. Caribbean cuisine is loaded with them. But its a one off comparison, train of thought, and probably isn't worth greater vivisection.

The Adrian Monk of the Pokemon setting? I'm slightly scared now.
Regigigas basically only has 4 states of existence; Hibernating, Beating The Shit Out Of Something, Moving Geographical Features To Where They Belong and Making Another Regigolem.

No matter where or when Regigigas is encountered, it will be doing one of those four things. Usually either Hibernating or Beating The Shit Out Of Whoever Woke It Up, as there isn't a whole lot of call for geographical rearrangement these days thanks to geology usually staying where Regigigas puts it. And no-one has ever actually caught Regigigas making another Regigolem (that I remember anyway), presumably because Regigigas does the Regigolem creation in some kind of hidden safe place where it won't be distracted.

So yeah, there are some similarities there. :V

Actually, I'm pretty sure there's never been an event where you actually fight Arceus. He just approaches you and bam, god in a ball. So...he willingly is captured?

To be fair. It's also got it's own group of legendary idiots to corral. Mass uncontrolled life growth or sudden massive death seems more important to it than the weather.

Except that in all likelihood, Xerneas and Yveltal aren't even awake most of the time, being stuck in their Tree and Cocoon modes respectively to sleep and re-gather the energy they need to be active. They also aren't actively at each other's throats the way Groudon and Kyogre are, so while their abilities need to be kept in check, there's a lot less chance of them suddenly meeting up and kickstarting the end of the world (again).

Not sure about how Zygarde Actually fits in as a legendary in Kalos since we never got Z, but trivia fact about its relation to irl mythology. Its forms seem to match Loki's kids with Angrboda; Fenrir, Jormungandr and Hela. A bit more questionable trivia connection that could explain the cell collection bit is this thing I found.
HeLa is an immortal cell line used in scientific research. It is the oldest and most commonly used human cell line.

Cool! I quite liked the mythological connections in Kalos; the Norse theme was really interesting... too bad I wasn't more interested in X and Y just in general.

Edit: I'm pretty sure that canonically (in the anime at least) the only times that Groudon and Kyoger have undergone primordial reversion was back when they first created the oceans and the continents. Which were then yanked into their correct places by Regigigas apparently, because reasons?

Nope - Mega Special 3 in the Kalos arc has them both suddenly (and rather inexplicably) going primal, and due to both of them going after, I quote, "The Legendary Giant Rock" (or, less laughably, the Megalith), they met up in the middle of the ocean near Rustburo and immediately started brawling with each other. Granted, Zygarde's first core had only just escaped Team Flare recently at this point, and Mega Rayquaza showed up on site to intervene before too long, but that's still the sort of world-ending, ecosystem-collapsing scenario you'd think would be pretty definitively within Zygarde's jurisdiction, yet which it never bothers showing up for.

Later episodes in the season seemed to show part of Zygarde as being angry with humans and imbalances in the natural order, but not to the point of actually doing anything until Lysandre hits half of him with a rage beam. And later, even in the midst of an active unnatural disaster, Zygarde STILL doesn't decide to help out until the very last second, after literally everyone else present has failed to stop it. This is the problem with having your brain in multiple pieces which can actively disagree with each other, I suppose.

Since when are bananas stringy?

Well, that's how I remember them as being when I've tried them before. If not, great!... but I still don't particularly like the taste, so the point is moot for the purposes of this story.

Regigigas basically only has 4 states of existence; Hibernating, Beating The Shit Out Of Something, Moving Geographical Features To Where They Belong and Making Another Regigolem.

Don't forget "glitching out like a broken computer" and "flinging around hyper beams while attempting to do the YMCA".

How does it even do that when its signiture ability is being to slow and weak at the start of a fight. Not to mention Regigigas is LV1.

I recall it as being level 70 or so in Diamond, so yeah, something went weird there in Platinum.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there's never been an event where you actually fight Arceus. He just approaches you and bam, god in a ball. So...he willingly is captured?

There was, actually, but you can only encounter it in diamond and pearl (not sure if it worked for platinum) with the help of an action replay, as there's no other way to obtain the unreleased azure flute item. You go to the top of spear pillar, play the flute, and a giant floating staircase appears. When you walk to the top of it, Arceus is waiting there, and like most other legendaries, as soon as you talk to him a battle is initiated, whereupon this music (which has a real "You are not supposed to be here" vibe) starts playing. Pretty cool on the whole, and since you could use the same tactic to get the Darkrai and Shaymin encounters (and also to literally change the viewpoint of the game if you wanted), I considered it well worth the 15 dollars the AR cost me.

Also, I'll still be trying to get the next chapter up by Thursday, but uh... a tree kind of fell on my house yesterday. Evidently Zygarde got angry at me for talking smack about him. Thankfully it didn't go through the house, and my computer is intact, but yeah, expect a potential delay.

The only way to capture god is to play god.

I can't really speak much for Zygarde's reasoning in the anime, but the games and manga gave me the impression that he's mainly there to deal with invasive threats. Groudon and Kyogore already have a built-in countermeasure if they start causing issues, things like Necrozma and the Ultra Beasts very much don't. It would explain why %100 Zygarde only showed up in Alola despite the threat of Team Flare and the Ultimate Weapon.

It's the job of humans to handle humans, the role of Rayquaza to keep Groudon and Kyogre in their place, and so on. He takes out things that don't have a natural counter, like a rampaging Mewtwo, literally alien fauna, and what's implied to be an insane counterpart to Arceus. Handling the screw-ups of the natives isn't really his job. It being meant mainly for completely removing/destroying that which doesn't belong would explain it's indecision, it's not sure what needs to be obliterated since this is pretty much a normal thing for poke-humanity.

You can actually get there without an AR by glitching the game (link). But yeah, annoyed they never released Arceus in basically any form where I am (literally the one Pokemon I don't have in Diamond).

Oh jeez I forgot how fucking ridiculous Regigigas was in the anime, but I'm going to throw both of those under 'Beating The Shit Out Of Something' as I never claimed that Regigigas would succeed at such, merely that it would be trying to.

Also: Registeel: [EXERTION] :V

e:
So that's the fight with that music, I remembered that music but I could never remember which fight it was in what Pokemon game.

It's all coming back to me now, the fucking about necessary to get that damned flute and then heading into the Hall of Origin only to hear this, 'well that sounds ominous'. Then you fight Arceus and you hear that and it becomes obvious even to dumb teenage me that shit is about to get extremely serious.

And then Arceus melts my team and I have to go figure out how to deal with such an overpowered Normal type, because it turns out I don't have shit for that.

Man, I remember that I had fun playing Pokemon, but looking back on those memories I really don't know why.

Honestly, Arceus' music sounds like it's trying to warn you. Don't try and play a gods game, or you might not like what comes to punish you after. Your not fighting a pokemon, your fighting actual GOD and you walking right up to his house, kicked in the front door, and demanded a fight. No glory or honor, just something that could erase you and all of existence without much of a thought.

Isn't that the start screen music for DPPt?
