Light infantry equipment
I'm only going to do one of the unit types equipment for now, not because I'm lazy, but because my last final lasted three hours and I need to have some rest.

Armor: Laminar Armor, Padded Kettle Helmet, and a Kite or Heater Shield.

Primary Weapon: There is no standardized equipment in the Rus, but all soldiers have a sword and a spear.

Secondary Weapons: A Dagger or hunting knife.

Footwear: Various, but almost everyone has some type of boots that they use for marching, in varying degrees of repair.

Other equipment: Long Ax's, throwing ax's, javelins, Boar spears, Fishing nets, donkeys for carrying supplies.

What's the extent of the Empire's control of North Africa? I know Egypt is a thing and the Empire is in conflict with Mali, but I don't know who controls what.

Also who controls the Low Countries? Does Denmark still control Norway?
North Africa has various petty kingdoms that are tributaries/Vassels under the rule of the Egyptian sultanate.

The Low Countries are divided up in other separate kingdoms Belgium and Luxemburg are part of France, while the Netherlands is part of Germany.

Denmark does not control Norway. Norway is another province in the empire that has its own prince.

Good, but they were all very loyal to Poland. Nothing Zima could say would cause them to stay with her when they were commanded to return home.
Thanks. Now the question remains: might there be a few of Zima's former officers who feel that Poland would be better off under a more... familiar leader?

Maybe we ought to write some letters...

Omake : Preparations
Akhmat Khan is furious. After the disastrous defeat at kulikovo, following the general fulk's 4th Silesian dragoons regiment counterattack on the mongols left flank that led to a decisive victory for the rus.
Yet, this time the odds are in his favor. Following two hundred thousand strong chinese invasion of India, the imperial reinforcements have all been forced to retreat and now the rus are on their own.
Moreover, a chinese general has recently arrive in his camp, offering gunpowder of all things and even teaching the mongols how to use them. With these new weapons, the mongols are now able to fight on par with the rus own gunpowder infantries.
While he do not trust these chinese, for only a fool would do so. The chinese intentions are clear, they wish to distract the empire to weaken their response to the chinese invasion. But Akhmat do not care, he will use this opportunity.
It is clear that the rus now posses the numerical superiority, for they have seventy thousand to his fourth. But regardless, today the mongols shall emerge victorious especially with their new gunpowder cavalry regiments.
While it is true that the rus has dealt a terrible blow to them. Today the proud nomadic horsemen of Mongolia stands united and strong, ready to avenge the rus for their humiliation!
On the other side of the river, the grand prince himself is preparing to battle. Following the unfortunate retreat of rus's imperial allies, he must achieve victory without them. He prepare his new favorite mount, an adult ussuri brown bear that towers over him. Behind him is Nicholas himself, currently assembling and preparing the men of the 1st Novgorod Bear heavy cavalry regiment.
Further behind them lies the combined armies of the rus, fidty thousand men strong. Cavalry regiments stand proud in their horses, spearman regiments with their spear held high, gunpowder infantries with their guns ready. The various banners of the rus stands high, Ruthenia's, Moskva's, and Crimea's. At the head are Lord Rodrik, Duke Viktor, and Duke Pietro with their bodyguards.
On the left side stands the twenty thousand polish army, lead by the iconic polish heavy hussars. They are ready to join the rus in the battle. In the front of the formation lies the Queen of Poland herself, Zima Królowa. The polish people stands ever ready for the upcoming battle.
The people's of the rus, burdened by mongol raids for centuries, have finally come together to end the mongols yoke. Today they all stand in defiance to the mongols, to end this once and for all!
Only the heaven above know who the victors are, but one thing remains certain. Whatever happens, the land of the rus and all nearby lands will never be the same again!

Firstime omake ever :V

It was a'right but just a tip, PM the OP with your story first. It'll probably have to be non-canon too.

@Magoose You mentioned that Novgorod was our only presence on the Gulf of Finland, with the rest of the Gulf-s shoreline controlled by Sweden and the Baltic states. What's the Empire's relations like with those nations? Also you mentioned Norway was part of the Empire but Sweden wasn't - how tense are things between Norway and Sweden?

1. Grammar. Commas, apostrophes, quotation marks, and others. Use them.
2. Capitalization. Be consistent about it, and for proper nouns.
3. Give Enter-Chan headpats.
4. Stick to either third or first person. You constantly switch back and forth.

Suggested edits will be forthcoming.

The empire controls all those nations, I think I mentioned that. But if I did not, now you know.

Sweeden, Norway, and Denmark are called the "Three Brothers." They bicker and fight to varying degree's, but at the end of the day, they are A-okay.

Its okay, but I'd follow @Always Late advice. And give me a PM so I can look at it and give you some feedback. Though my editing skills are not good, I can assist you a little bit.

You also forgot to name the reward you want.

Synov'ya Rossii
Synov'ya Rossii

You could do nothing to help her. And you hated it. The familiar, cloying, infectious feeling of helplessness filled your soul as you sat outside the birthing room.

You wanted to do something, anything, to help Zima get through the night. But the midwife refused to let you near her. Tradition, she first said. To your sword she next said that you'd do nought but get in the way of her and her apprentices.

You wanted to protest to her, to force the stubborn old woman aside, but the midwife gazed into your eyes, cold and unflinching. "If you are there with her, she will die."

Her words struck you like a dagger to the heart, and you could only follow her orders. Waiting was all that could be done now. Wait. Wait and hear the screams of agony from the woman you loved as she brought your children into this world.

But you had faith. Faith in the midwife, her assistants, and in Zima. You knew she was strong, and that even facing death she would try fighting her way out of it.

And then Zima's screams mixed in with the cry of an infant, the babe's screams were like music in your ears. One was out of Zima, alive and well.

Hours passed by but to you, they seemed to drag on for days. The night becoming early morning with the sun rising overhead. Screams and cries filled the villa, as your other children entered the world.

And then there was silence. The cries of newborn lungs stopped, you could no longer hear your wife's voice, and you could only hear the barest hints of whispers from beyond the door.

An eternity passed before you saw the door open and the midwife walks out towards you. She was silent, making sure you made eye contact before she said. "The children are all alive."

"Is Zima okay?" You asked.

The midwife nodded. "She's resting, but she is fine. Even for one of her blood, she's very lucky to be alive."

You felt the tears in your eyes start to leak as you emotionally embraced the midwife. "Thank you."

The midwife froze for a moment before awkwardly embracing the man who not too long ago had pointed a sword at her. When you let go, the midwife straightened herself into a more dignified posture. "I expect the payment will be given before we leave."

You nodded. "Yes, one of my men will retrieve your payment immediately."

"Good…" She sighed and looked back towards Zima's birthing room. "I suggest getting another midwife to help nurse your children. I'm a bit old for that."

"Alright. But may I see her now?" You asked.

"Yes." The midwife replied.

You nearly ran past the midwife and charged through the door. You paused at the entryway at the sight before you.

The midwife's assistants were moving around, either cleaning their hands or tending to the children.

Your gaze went to Zima, and you saw her eyes barely opened, looking towards the door. She looked like she had been through a battle. Her face was red, her eyes, what little you could see of them, looked red and puffy. Tears were falling down her cheeks as she smiled at you.

You slowly walked towards the bed where she rested, your ears barely making out the sound of soft crying from the other room, where you knew your children were being cleaned.

"Zima…" You whispered her name so quietly that you thought she didn't hear it. "You did it."

Zima reached out and grabbed your hand. "We both did." She whispered.

Then the three assistants walked in, each of them carrying a child. "They are all boys, your grace." The assistant in the middle said.

All your emotions flooded out as you felt tears fall down your face and your smile rose. The three little children in their arms were yours.

They were all beautiful and they were yours. "Can I hold them?"

As you cradled the three wonderful sons in your arms, whatever fear you had from the night were replaced by joy and relief.

[X]Arkadiy
[X]Artur

Arkadiy is derived from Arkadios... which is named after the greek word for 'bear'. Arthur's also got Celtic roots, combining both 'bear' and 'king'.

So we've got"King", "Bear", and "Bear-king". What's not to like?

Alexi is named after our father, obviously.
Dmitry and Ivan are references to people who defeated Mongols IRL, Dmitry Donskoy and Ivan III.
Also Ivan is a reference to Russian fairy tales' common characters: Ivan the Fool and Ivan the Tsar's Son. Both are third sons, both are not as smart and practical as their older brothers, but resourceful and incredibly lucky.

Traditional Slavs names:
'Growing glory', 'Bright glory' and 'Vengeful glory'.

I'm against the weird fixation on bears this thread has all due to that joke early on about bear cavalry.

What I am for are Shaseyu's names as they have meaning and are normal Russian names I've heard before while those are questionable in my mind so

[X] Alexi
[X] Dmitry
[X] Ivan

As do mine.
are normal Russian names
So are mine, I checked.
Now I can't do anything about you not meeting any Arthurs or Augustus.

Nor your poor sense of memes.:V
