[X] The Tsar-Khagan

I'd prefer if we were a Mongolian, but I suppose this is the closest I'll ever get to a male 'asian' (not japanese) protagonist quest.

@Magoose The mention of the Aztec gods in the opening post made me curious - will there be magic and supernatural influences in this game? Or are we sticking exclusively to real-world tech?
No magic or supernatural elements. It's gonna be just real world stuff/tech.

-[X]Heir to the Throne: Your Grandfather, His Imperial Majesty Phillip 'The Wise' is dead. Murdered in the Coup that killed many of your closet family. And you did. (Age must be over 16 but younger than 30)

I honestly don't understand how people came to conclusion not!HRE/early German Empire = Alexander the Great. It's obvious we would have to deal with a bunch of internal bullshit before being able to do anything, which is boring. With Frontier though we could become the Ruler of the Steppes, conquering both Russians and Mongols before looking towards either East or West. It's different and unusual.

Not to mention any CK II player should feel ashamed of themselves for voting for a start that's already an Emperor :V

Honestly I just like the name "Alexander" and once I saw that our grandfather and the previous Emperor was named Philip I thought it would be a cool name for a plan. We still have our education and starting traits to pick from so as of yet the personality of the character is still up in the air.

Besides, we can earn the title "The Great" through rulership and keeping the Empire together.

The Aztecs are an empire spanning the entire Americas, we're not exactly giving historical accuracy much weight here.

We do have to deal with political situations, but if we wanted an actual stable empire in Russia/Mongolia we'd have to do similar things. Smoothing over interracial tensions, managing feudal vassals, tax laws, legal cases... you get the idea.

You have any idea how hard conquering the steppes and keeping them stable is? Better to start with some actually civilized territory.

While conquering the Mongols would be a logistical impossibility, as a Tsar-Khagan we'd likely have a shot at unifying the many divided principalities of Rus. A visit from Genghis Khan himself is due in 20 years (which was kind of inconclusive in canon - the defending armies were routed, but the Mongols left right afterwards), and his successors would come knocking the decade after. It would make for a good Doomsday scenario.

Not sure what Europe has to offer on that front...

Fair enough. It was mostly because of comment(s? can't remember) about conquering Europe that boggled my mind. Still think it's boring compared to becoming a Russian Khan tho.

Sunset Invasion was a mistake.

Sure, but it (probably) wouldn't be our first focus. It's obvious from the description of the Heir that we'd have to deal with all the shit happening in our own backyard first, while with Frontier... Well, I'm not sure, probably trying to consolidate the Frontier before attacking Rus? Still would have to deal with bureaucracy at one point, but it isn't as obvious problem as the former; taxes, vassals etc. would be a problem no matter where we would have started.

We're a Russian version of Ghengis Khan. If he could do it, we would do the same. But, you know, better 'cause we're going to conquer the whole world.

Europeans have been fighting each other for the last five thousand years. I'm sure we'll find someone who wants to be either independent or Emperor themselves and sow the fields with their corpses. We'll probably have to focus on centralizing power, winning over the military, rooting out corruption, taxes, etc. Conquering an Empire is far easier than actually running one. The Empire of the actual Alexander the Great disintegrated the moment he died, while Rome lasted a thousand years, and even longer if you count the Byzantines. Running around open territory and stabbing everyone who doesn't kneel to you will get you an empire, but unless you have the infrastructure to make that Empire last it's only going to end up as a footnote.

Fite me, m8.

Conquering the world in medieval times just isn't feasible, it is logistically impossible to govern such a large empire. You're going to run into problems after a while and then you're stuck actually ruling what land you already have. Unless you want your empire to fracture after your death, like with Alexander and even Ghengis. No, if we want to conquer the world it has to be a multi-generational project, which is much harder to do when you're a steppe civilization. Nomads are pretty hard to control.

Well... Alexander the great is interesting but The Tsar-Khagan is more original so why not ?

I change my vote for

[X] The Tsar-Khagan
